Nowadays plane crazy mechs literally have no function whatsoever, and the reason mechs have legs is because they are used to walk but instead, this generation just put rockets and anchor block and call it a day and all they care about is how it looks and not how it functions, those type of "mechs" aren't mechs, they are just flying statues.
New update made walking systems way easier, but like, most mechs in media don’t usually walk, or at all lol. (Armored cores are known for flying, Dom cannot walk, falken flies so he’s not made for walking, look at his feet(or lack of) Imo, walking just limits the mech more from their potential in combat and style, and running isn’t walking

When you’re flying, and your legs start dangling around in the air, that greatly affects your center of weight and thus, affects your mech’s flying capacity. Which is why mechs have rigid legs nowadays. It allows for enhanced stability in the air.
