I must say, that looks WAYYY better with someone holding/playing it than it looks on the BC Rich website.
NGL, the pink pants help
Great to see you back, Arnold!
Such a beautiful instrument, along with the beloved Warlock! I wish they made long scale bass versions (37"+, 5-6 strings) for lower tuning though, and 8-9 string Warlocks (29"+) with Floyd Rose.
That red Mockingbird in the background... could be mine! 😎
“You could be mine” 😅
Chaneling Deicide in a pink pair of jeans...Sir, i am now questioning myself...
Oh yeah, there's a reason Jo Bench swore by her Ironbirds as long as she did, they sound amazing. Her exact words were "Aye, they're f****n' gold, now, aren't they?" If I were still playing and had $1900 lying around, I'd want one of these...or I'd get one of the body blanks from Ed Roman Guitars and take it from there. Either way, Ironbirds are as 80's as it gets and that's alright by me.
My oh my that's beautiful
Hey Arnold. Love seeing bass content. What is your signal chain here? The tone is massive. Also was wondering how the reach feels to the lower frets in this bass.
One of the problems I had with the Ibanez BTB 5 string was dead frets/fret buzz. Good to know that’s not an issue with this. Can you have like super low action without fret buzz though? That is crucial if you’re a fingers player like me
Considering buying one. For 1900$ (and 100$ with shipping so 2 grand essentially) I would expect it to be top notch and to be perfect. I am a fingers player and do tremolo picking with fingers. I have for ages been playing Ibanez Sdgr 5 and BTB 5 strings as well as a low end warlock but this sounds much better than those.
We have a headstock on a shape that was ruined by the we having some bridge. Someone left an iron bird at my house once and I use it to scare my Oma.
I miss Arnold
With Geezer Butler’s recommendation.
he hated his. Never played it again after LiveAid
Shame it doesn't have a true ebony fretboard.
That beauty gives me Bolt thrower vibes
BLASHYRKH!!!
Jo Bench says hello.
Jo Bench approved.
Just received mine yesterday - good notes all around. Definitely paying for the vibe more than anything else…the bridge on mine wasn’t tightened down (about 2mm floating off the body in one corner) and lots of similar fit/finish quibbles with binding when you look up close.
That said, I’ve wanted one of these for ages and it just feels and sounds so right that I’m happy to have shelled out to snag one. The quality is there where it really matters, neck, fingerboard, electronics, so good enough for me.
…now if we could just get a case/gigbag… Cheers!
I just got mine a couple days ago with the Gloss Red finish. The bass is fucking aweeeeeesome!!! It is very versatile. Can play all styles of music from Funk (the slap tone on this bass is great!), Jazz, Rock (duh), Metal (duh). Roll back the tone and you get a real warm Motown tone. This thing is literally a tricked out P bass, in fact, I own two USA Fender B Basses and the Rich is actually better than both combined. Super fast neck with a 14" fingerboard radius. I have mine tuned to E Standard right now with my own set up, got the action super low as well. My gripe tho, is the same gripe you have, the binding... except on mine, it seems they were able to get it in the deep cut aways but kind of went too light with the paint on easy areas, can see some of the red poking through, have to look really hard tho to notice it. Is this bass worth $1899.00, ehh, not really. If it wasnt in such high demand, its more of a $1,400.00-1,600.00 bass imo. I got lucky with mine. Sweetwater and Musicians Friend/GC was completely sold out of them. I bought mine from Red Blanket guitars located in Seattle. They are the biggest retailer of B.C. Rich guitars and basses in the world and are an independent shop. I live on the east coast, took 4 days for me to recieve it and the owner Damon Thomas is highly responsive and answers any questions you have (via email) in a timely fashion and will have an actual conversation with you. Over all im more than happy with this bass. If anyone is interested in buying these and has the cash to drop on it, you wont be dissappointed. Jump on them as soon as they come back in stock though. Theyre back ordered like crazy
Brat is literally the sickest band live. Saw them with Cromags
The pink pantser.
Holy fuck, good to see this pop up today.
I had a USA made one of these in 1987. It was the most neck heavy instrument I've ever owned and not fun to gig with. Great tone and quality though.
I actually was pining to get this bass for a long while. However, honestly it sounds terrible in this video. Especially compared to what you can get with spector.
Hey Arnold, is there a way to direct Dm you? I have a question :)
Hit me up on instagram
Tone all the way up through that Darkglass plugin. Yes. That is the bass sound I want. Great looking bass. Getting hold of BC Rich guitars has always been extremely difficult for me, given I live in the UK.
It’s a shame about the whole…incident. The new owners seem to struggle staying out of trouble. I’ve got an IB 5er so I guess I’ll just keep and enjoy that for the duration. Here’s to hoping the internal issues find a mutual resolve.
Jo Bench from Bolt Thrower approved it was made for C# tune🤘
wish they made a 6 string of this
cool pants :)
Wow that bass is gorgeous! Thanks for reviewing it Arnold 🤘
good lord that thing is hideous
That's a weird way to spell "incredibly awesome and I want one now"
Awesome that you're reviewing a bass, that thing looks like a monster but I would destroy it after 2 gigs
