It's so good to know self-defense for women has progressed substantially since 1969. I have never seen such cooperative attackers! And saying that women aren't "fierce fighters " is just plain sexist. I've trained some women who would scare the crap out of most attackers.
Some nice diversity in the choice of girls for this film - I presume that was Alice McGrath's influence! Not bad practical stuff, either - general useful moves you can learn in a few minutes and remember.
Felix Uncia it’s her husband Bruce Tegner who’s the instructor in this film. He was an Armed Forces self defence teacher and an early pioneer of mixed martial arts. He was also practical in that he plainly spoke about your realistic chances of fighting when you were smaller, weaker or frailer than your attacker Sure, this video does go for yuks at times, but it makes for a more interesting presentation & whilst no one would claim you’d be a good fighter after this brief course, the message holds true...do enough to escape and get help.
That's Bruce Tegner and Alice McGrath in that video. There's a companion book to it: Self-defense for Girls: A Secondary School & College Manual
Wow. I had Bruce Tegner's Karate book as a 13 year old kid and studied it religiously. It's nice to see him in action.
That's Heather Menzies from the Sound of Music! RIP 🙏
