Lecture 16 Material Balance Problems on systems involving Recycle Streams

This video gives a very easy way to solve material balance problems on multiple process units with one or more process streams being recycled back. Video starts by discussing the advantages of recycling and when it should be used. Then two more problems on recycle have been discussed. First problem deals with drying of solids. Second problem is a classic problem on Distillation column with two recycle streams, namely reflux from the condenser and reboil from the partial reboiler. On first look the problem seems to be complicated because one has to handle two recycle streams.But following our methodology, and following the step by step procedure developed and championed till now in my previous videos, one can easily calculate all the unknowns. Distillation problem is the unsolved problem of Felder (problem 4.31)
