People of all ages and ethnicities mental health is worsening exponentially. And rather than helping to improve the situation, politicians across the board are exacerbating it. We need to talk about this much more and find ways to help sufferers including those who are too proud or ashamed to admit they’re sufferers, before the problem becomes overwhelming.

Denise is brilliant. I have mild autism and other health problems and I don't get much help from my adult mental health team sadly. I'm left to defend for myself basically.

    • @SuperGingerBickies
      @SuperGingerBickies 2 роки тому +1

I know, right? It's tough enough as it is coming to terms with multiple health problems and the effect on your mental wellbeing but factoring in autism exacerbates it ... you'd think there would be more out there, wouldn't you? In my case, if I hear one more mention about counselling, I really will go into the mother of all meltdowns!

You say that you suffer from depression, what do you think is best, saying 'i suffer from depression' Or saying 'I am happy'
      Try looking into Buddhist mantra,s
You need to programme your brain
I am happy, I am happy, I am happy, x108 times.
Look at Denise still living emotionally 30 years in the past.
      We all have our problems
      Please try
      It works.

That won't work for true depression. You need to go to your GP and ask for help. The 'I am happy' mantra may work once the depression has been treated

    • @nuncaolvidare4895

      Well said curlybean
I've been in recovery for a few years, the first 5 I practically lived in meetings: morning noon night. Over the years I've spoken in depth some of the time with thousands of people and their struggles with mental illness and addiction. Not everyone who is in recovery suffers from ill mental health but many do. Personally I do mindfulness and meditation and visited and stayed at Scotland's largest Buddhist retreat many times. Now buddism can be great but it is not as simple as telling yourself you are happy. I am still linked in with my community mental health team - I've relapse with my mental health on average 3x a year.
I have been diagnosed with clinical depression with psychosis and delusions. They diagnosed and treated me for bipolar for two years before another diagnosis of complex post traumatic stress disorder; following this I got a bit of stability.
Unlike Denise I do have a traumatic past and people's comments saying you just tell yourself you're happy is far from truth. I'm blessed to have discovered meditation and Buddhism but people with real underlying issues need 💯 help from those services too. Well said.

So many people are utterly ignorant about mental health. I've been told many times that I have no right to suffer from anxiety and depression because I "don't live in a warzone or have a serious physical health issue." That's not how mental health works at all. In some ways, mental health should be treated in the same way as physical health. For example, if there is someone who has a physical health issue, they may well require more help, support, patience and understanding from others. That's exactly the same for someone with a mental health issue.

I've suffered with depression but, to be honest, I'm fed with Denise banging on about her depression - drones on about herself with nothing positive about helping yourself. Victim mentality. 😔

You're making the very common mistake of assuming that someone's mental health will always mirror their external environment and circumstances. A very fortunate person in life can develop physical health issues, and the same goes for mental health issues.
