Can't agree enough. Did an Active Shooter class and the first thing I did after was buy three pairs of quality running shoes. I should have taken pictures of the bruises around the arches of my feet from sprinting around corners, using cover, and dodging fire. I always, always have shoes I could hoop in, on now.
You seem to carry a normal-ish amount of stuff. I dig the tourniquet option there. That is why people make these videos. For other people to learn from. Thanks for sharing with us.

Man I like this guy! John you put out a great vibe it makes watching your vids enjoyable. I can honestly say you have a great attitude towards proper gun control. I see so many ass hats out their that take everything so serious they forget to enjoy the firearm. Teaching respect for the firearms with the proper attitude not just how bad ass a person is. Thanks for the great content.
Don't be the grappling hook guy say's the guy carrying a surpressed .22 in his backpack! hahaha...just showing some love! Great setup. Looking forward to the video on the RATS T setup.
Love the vids, love how you approach certain topics. Keep up the great material!!! I've watched tons of EDC vids and I have to be honest I haven't taken much from the others but a freaking flashlight is genius. I normally always have 1-2 in my vehicle but on person is a great idea, because we cant always get to our vehicles. You just single handedly upgraded my EDC. Thank you sir.

Solid funny comment though! 😂😂🇺🇸🗽🦅🇦🇹
My father used to do work with getting people out of gangs and they would wear two pairs of underwear so when they would get arrested and in jail they could wash one pair in the sink while still wearing the other. Got to stay fresh.
I carry exactly every piece of gear you mentioned on this video with the addition of a lighter. It's the only other thing I'd recommend for an every day carry. It's unobtrusive, light and can serve in several day to day purposes and or possible emergencies. I just subscribed, you run an excellent channel.

Great video as usual John. Liked that you started with the shoes. Also comfortable clothing. People forget that being able to move easily is key. I guess most instructors want to focus on the cool stuff rather than what is really important.
I like the sarcasm, that earned you a subscribe for sure. I just don't carry a flashlight as much as I sometimes think I should because when I do carry one I do find that it comes in handy quite often.
You forgot your go go gadget spring loaded boots for jumping tall buildings in a single bound and your go go gadget helicopter hat to fly off into the sunset lol.
First, Yankee Marshall has NOTHING on Instructor Zero and he shows appendix carry a lot. If you aren't competently trainer, any kind of carry is dangerous. Next, being military or ex-military doesn't qualify you as an expert in firearms. There are desk jobs in the military. And finally, where are your credentials as an instructor to throw shade at Mr. Lovell? I won't resort to character degradation as you did but don't talk shit if you ain't shit.
campsite a Yankee Marshall? hahahaha....That dude couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag...BTW, what's an ex-mil or whatever supposed to look and act like? Do they all have to be alike?
This was actually a really helpful video. I usually carry my m&p shield with an extra mag and a pocket knife, plus the basics wallet phone and keys. I never thought about carrying a glass breaker/pen or a tourniquet. Guess I know what my next investment will be.
John love the wisdom you bring to IIa community. I am impressed that with all you had in your pockets and waistline that I could barely see your wallet printing. I have some work to do on that subject. Keep it the great video.
John Lovell thanks guys for great content. @mrgunsngear referred me to your page. Are you related to Jim Lovell? Just orederd the Aeroes aegis belt. Never had it but like the idea of adjusting on the fly. I have 2 of the cobra buckle type belts that are becoming uncomfortable.
I don't put my wallet in my back pocket, but if I did, the wallet is pretty thin, so i would imagine it would be more comfortable than a fat leather wallet.
Nice and straightforward setup with what you need. While fun to watch the dumps that look like a tactical warehouse, you have the necessary items. Thanks for sharing.
I've considered making an edc video, but it could get ridiculous. To start with, I carry an XD Compact .40 usually under a jacket in a shoulder holster, my backup gun is an XD Subcompact.40 that rides in an ankle holster. Here's where it gets ridiculous... I always have my M92 AK pistol in a tennis racket bag next to me and my folded Uzi Pro riding shotgun. I also have a holster under the steering column that holds my XD Tactical .45, spare mags in the glove box, center column, and the racket bag for all of them. I'll carry a small fixed blade knife occasionally, and a flashlight at night, and sometimes even a Cobalt mini multi tool. My trunk has my plate carrier along with more spare mags, and an ammo can filled with all calibers I'd need. I don't do it out of fear of being attacked, more so out of fear that my home could be broken into while I'm gone. I've had guns stolen from home break-ins before and it's a helpless, violated feeling. My car has an alarm and I do have a home safe that some of my guns stay in, but in my opinion, it's a pretty flimsy safe. That's something I need to invest in soon, a good sturdy safe. John, I'm a very polite and friendly guy (unless you cross me) and I consider myself a member of the warrior poet society. I have a strong relationship with my God, Creator, and Savior and He guides and protects me daily. Thank you for all you do to educate, inform, a drop some spiritual knowledge to the ones who desperately need it. Keep the great content coming! This has quickly became one of my top favorite channels.
All those guns and no less than lethal tools like OC spray or medical supplies. Some situations don't call for a gun and some lethal force situations could be prevented if stopped before they escalate to that point. If you carry a gun it's probably to save a life, not because you want to get a kill under your belt. With that said, a few key medical tools would be as likely to save a life as a gun, like a tourniquet.
Need to “invest” in a good safe. Yet you have 1000 of excessive guns that most likely won’t help you win a realistic fight?? Unless your high security sell some of that shit and buy a safe for 1000 that will last you a lifetime so that no one steals your guns and endangers the rest of us. The do payment plans and there’s no sales tax in quite a few states. You have every right to do what you want but it grinds my gears when dudes buy a shit load of powerful weapons and keep em in a stack on
Love the video! The sarcasm fits well with the daily jokers but the simple practicality of your carry items van put all that to rest. Keep doing what you do and thanks for the educational witty videos!
You mentioned a tactical knowledge about drawing the flashlight. i would be really interisted in video about that topic. Thank you for de great Content :)
+Rudolf Kasper amen to simple and effective! The person is the weapon, and tools are tools. Except some people are tools... ha! Yes, I laughed at my own lame joke
John Lovell For me it is even a little more important to us all the none leathal tools, and my self as as a tool. Im German so on one side we cant carry guns, but on the other side we have no need because no citizen can carry a gun. sure you can buy all guns, with some exceptions, and shoot them in a club on the range or use them for Hunting. Hunters for example can carry their gun from theire home to the hunting ground in a locked case. Only there they are allowed to load the gun. In the US everybody can carry guns, because of the constitution. So if i would life in America i would carry gun too. I find it very interisting to follow the gun community and the differences between our cultures and things we have in common. Sadly many Germans dont understand the reason of the gunlaws in the US, because they see only the bad things in the mainstream media, such as shootings and dump people which ignor the gunsafty and shoot them self, for example. So thank you for your great videos.
So I think you're an excellent trainer from washing your videos and you're very knowledgeable and you say Marco all-around good person so God bless bro
Always informative and entertaining. Found your sling video while looking at options for my AR. Have since watched everything and even made the Girls, wife and daughters, watch your situational awareness stuff. Keys in your hand and head on a swivel. It was nice for them to hear it from someone other than cop dad. Also have changed my drills cause yours make more sense. I find the whole warrior poet mentality something I can relate to as well. Lol also shared your segment about tactical accuracy with some of the guys I shoot with. Some times good enough is good enough. Thanks again for the information and all you do.
80% of all violent encounters happen during hours of limited visibility. For me, it is to search, navigate, blind, distract, identify, etc. Also, it can be used to prevent attacks, as criminals will associate it with law enforcement and assume you are situationally aware and carrying if they see you use it at night. Also, I hate little tactical surprises I use it for.
John Lovell I noticed you also have a light on your 19 so if the point of a flashlight is to be used during a violent attack in a low light situation wouldn't your gun be out as well and it would be perfectly acceptable to do everything you listed except for maybe navigate with that weapons mounted light?
I thought the same thing, Then went thru and still do, go thru some bad storms and random power outtages. Your phone may fail or you might need the phone to make calls. Heat of the moment, an independent light just might do the deed. YMMV.
John first off thank you for the vids ive been watching them all and i have to say i havent seen anything i disagree with. The things that you teach are right on the money, I would definitely come take a class from you man awesome keep the vids coming.
I think everyone likes Surefire quality but Surefire is always a bit behind the curve with regards to lumen output, features, etc. I won't buy a light these days that can't handle running off both primary cells and rechargeables. But Surefire sure doesn't offer too many of those. My EDC light is a HDS Systems. Not cheap but overbuilt for the apocalypse.
EDC is great. Wearing 5.11 TDU pants gives you cargo pockets as well as the ability to have a good sturdy belt so you can carry lots of stuff. By most people's standards I carry way too much. To name a few, Flashlight, batteries, phone, gerber multitool, power bank, charging cable, USB thumb drives, hex bit driver with several screwdriver bits, UK Legal knife, Leatherman Micra mini multitool, knife sharpening stone, pen, small and thin custom pieced together first aid kit and a cheaper brand of CAT Tourniquet and of course my keys. I may have missed one or two things but you get the idea.
They're toys made out of aluminum usually with a bearing for spinning & fidgeting...I did not know about them until I saw people's posts on Instagram of their "EDC display". I shit you not.
I always get a good chuckle here. "...maybe that will blow my hair back" and the " feeling like I have a Batman Utility belt" also made me smile. I work with a "grappling hook" guy and I swear it must take him 30 minutes to dress. He's got shit strapped around both ankles, the stretchy under shirt holsters, Asp, Glock with three mags, backup revolver with backup speed loader, tourniquet, spare batteries for his Surefire light and iPhone, and so much other crap that just remembering he has all that must be a challenge. Love this channel!
I'm a bit like you. I don't give up all my tactical advantages. I am relatively certain you EDC more than you have shown. Kudos. You are the real deal. Keep up the good work. And, May God Hold you in the palm of his hand. James
Everything is perfect because it works for you. That is the key. More so, looking at you , I would never guess you carry all those tools dressed the way you are. The long sleeve under the short sleeve says no way your a gun guy. Bravo.
I started carrying a SOF T a couple years ago. I carry it in an ankle rig at work and while wearing pants. I also carry one with shorts. Folds down flat now that they have newer generations without that huge clamping buckle!
+christian mcnally if I don't carry a pocket watch (or even know anyone who does), could it be all right to repurpose this a change pocket? ALL IN FAVOR....Say "I"
Thats actually incorrect, the pocket used to be for pocket watches vut after ww2 they actually began getting smaller and in vietnam or korean war i believe they were the size of a zippo lighter either to fit a zippo or the zippo was made to fit the pocket, though i digress, you will be hard pressed to find a pocket watch that would fit in the pocket now a days as its 1/3 the size they used to be and pocket watches havent really changed standard size in about 100 years
So no car keys or sunglasses, clearly removed items from the video to be "that guy". Must have ditched the short sword and beats headphones along with the spare 30 round magazines on the shoulder holster. Now you want us to believe this is real, I take my tin foil hat off for one minute and this is what I find!!! Btw, what sights do you run?
I just discovered this video. Great job!! As a Corpsman the only other thing I might recommend carrying when you are working, expecting something to happen or as a just in case item like your tourniquet is a tampon. Yes, a tampon! I used to carry them in the field all the time. They make wonderful bandages. You can spread them over a cut or use them for puncture wounds. Just ask any woman you know...o.k. maybe don't ask. But they are made for blood.
that's about all I carry too. need to be able to move around. please give me the name of a good tourniquet I'm not going to carry it around my waist I'll probably have it on my leg. thanks John God bless
Mr. Lovell, it's nice to see some down to earth suggestions for EDC, and the overall lack of "tacticool you're gonna die if you don't wear this or carry this gun, yada yada..." attitude is refreshing.
well sir, how can I say this... I'm disappointed. Ever since you pulled your carry weapon seemingly out of nowhere during the intro class, I have envisioned you with a grappling hook around your waist, stars on an upper arm band and a kukri hidden somewhere. You mean that you are NOT Batman?
LOL! Here in Central Florida I am typically lucky to be wearing a little more than my T-Back and T-Shirt, so it makes it difficult to carry very often. If I can actually carry it is mostly nothing more than a Glock 43 or XDS (Soon to be P365). I just purchased one of the Vertx bags you recommended and am waiting on it to get to the front door. Keep up the Great videos!
You cant go wrong with having one victorinox swiss army knife. I carry a cadet model. Very minimalist and small, I use the blade as a beater. And the screw drivers and flat heads are more useful than not.
I'm right with you on the stretchy pants!! I wear Levi Denizens, a good bit of stretch, but look like normal jeans. I will NEVER go back to normal jeans!
I love that somebody commented on how much of your EDC was gifts. It’s so evident in your posts how much you care for your community. My two cents (if it’s even worth that much, haha): I was surprised to not see a watch in your EDC. Perhaps it was omitted by accident. I would love to find a Velcro piece to put a handcuff key between the layers of my Ares belt. Any ideas? Also, I love how practical you are. I think this rig is very accessible for people just beginning to do EDC, and also I picked up a few tips as a hobbyist. Thanks!
Forget the grappling hook... A simple bullwhip will take the place of the hook, and provide additional functionality. It's basically the original multi tool.
Throwing that shit down with authority. Was just watching you on IV8888 and all the comments were about you hucking his guns on the table. Guess that's your signature move.
Nice core set up! I've yet to get in the habit of packing a tourniquet other than a long strip Velcro strap rolled up. I use Alien Gear Cloak Tuck for my 1911. Thanks for the reminder!
We think the same. Love the humor . I carry the same stuff. (Different brands) I do like that light . I will get one next week. Like minded people like your videos.
you come off as down to earth.... glad you're on our side....
I try to be pretty chill. Thanks bro.
I stopped paying attention when you said no throwing stars. Then no hook, how can you be taken seriously without a grappling hook. You must be paranoid to carry all that! I'm an over achiever...

I like that he started with the shoes. Every one forgets them in their edc.
could just have very tactical feet and don't need shoes lol.
Do those come in black or camo or desert tan?
KainusGulch LOL they vary greatly depending on the owner lol mine would work great as snow camo, but show up like a neon light anywhere else lol
John McClane did alright with out any shoes. My feet aren't tactical enough to match his though
Not even a Skittles dispenser?
a terrible oversight!
A Batman pez dispenser is wayyy more tactical.
just when you get to thinking you know someone!!!
Single shot Skittle dispenser? Or Full Semi-Auto?
Grevlain if your going for practicality single for tactical situation you need fully-semi automatic.
The best part of your EDC is that it was mostly gifts. Thrifty. :-D
hell0philip lol

Love your vids, John. What a great and positive attitude you have...real genuine man.

I've noticed with EVERYONE, including myself, that we all speed up our speech when we demonstrate a quick movement while talking normally.
Nice and straightforward setup with what you need. While fun to watch the dumps that look like a tactical warehouse, you have the necessary items. Thanks for sharing.
no prob bro - and thanks!
This has quickly became one of my top favorite channels.
you are most welcome sir. As for EDC - I was trying to just cover what is on my person, not within hands-reach. Your loadout is .... um....intense.
John Lovell Hahaha! I've been called worse things.
You have every right to do what you want but it grinds my gears when dudes buy a shit load of powerful weapons and keep em in a stack on
IDOALL
XD is trash. Everyone knows it.
I'll circle around to low light stuff soon I hope
oh ok just like me ;) i expected something more tactical XD. Simple and effective. Thank you very much
+Rudolf Kasper amen to simple and effective!
+Rudolf Kasper there is an America portrayed in the media that paints a wildly different picture than what life is like in my home in Georgia.
Your channel is starting to blossom, John. Keep it up!!
He said "that was a gift" so many times that I want to be friends with his friends as well! Which Salomon shoes were those?
I'm a fan of "what's in your pocket" videos.
I enjoyed this one, thanks.
He was immediately entertaining for me lol
+Jamie Jackson thx!
So I think you're an excellent trainer from washing your videos and you're very knowledgeable and you say Marco all-around good person so God bless bro
"Start from the toes up"
Always informative and entertaining.
Hey John, why is a flashlight so important? I typically use my phone flashlight app for every day use.
+Ulfhednar 506 thx brother
No fidget tool John (totally joking) Nice EDC 👌
+Vegas Gurl what is a fidget tool??
They're toys made out of aluminum usually with a bearing for spinning & fidgeting...I did not know about them until I saw people's posts on Instagram of their "EDC display". I shit you not.
John Lovell He's talking about the new spinning top fad.
Vegas Gurl my fidget tool is a 500
@@WarriorPoetSociety hi lovell. I would love to love you BTW Another figment of my imagination much like yourself. Gotcha
Good video John as always..keep up the good work bro!
I had that flashlight until I lost it....
A man that travels without a grappling hook is NOT normal..
I'm a bit like you. I don't give up all my tactical advantages. I am relatively certain you EDC more than you have shown. Kudos. You are the real deal. Keep up the good work. And, May God Hold you in the palm of his hand. James
Where is the hydraulic breaching stuffi?
I mean... come on John!?
+Do I Even Lift Hahahaha - what an oversight!!
Everything is perfect because it works for you. That is the key. More so, looking at you , I would never guess you carry all those tools dressed the way you are. The long sleeve under the short sleeve says no way your a gun guy. Bravo.
The modern day Chuck Norris
John I Always carried everything you do before my weapon, so now completely covered with all of accessories
Bet those stretchy pants came in handy for Thanksgiving! :)
yep!!!
I started carrying a SOF T a couple years ago. I carry it in an ankle rig at work and while wearing pants. I also carry one with shorts. Folds down flat now that they have newer generations without that huge clamping buckle!
great video no judgement here keep sharing the true gospel rltw
My new favorite UA-camr good on ya John keep it up!!
John wears stretchy pants!! LOL!!!
John EDC pants are prepared for the worst Thanksgiving day scenario. hahaha
enter nacho libre pose
Jason Foran 3% stretchy. Don’t getting wrong :)
Just like Chuck Norris action pants!
Pajama Jeans!!! (As seen on TV)
What we learned from this: everything you carry is a gift
that's not a change pocket, that's for your pocket watch
+christian mcnally if I don't carry a pocket watch (or even know anyone who does), could it be all right to repurpose this a change pocket? ALL IN FAVOR....Say "I"
Thats actually incorrect, the pocket used to be for pocket watches vut after ww2 they actually began getting smaller and in vietnam or korean war i believe they were the size of a zippo lighter either to fit a zippo or the zippo was made to fit the pocket, though i digress, you will be hard pressed to find a pocket watch that would fit in the pocket now a days as its 1/3 the size they used to be and pocket watches havent really changed standard size in about 100 years
Br love the sarcasm!
Great info and simple!
Glad I found your videos!
Not really a fan of these EDC videos but you at least did a good job at making it entertaining still, thanks for the video! :-)
+MrDeathsmbrace I'm not either. Thx!
Love the simplistic EDC setup. I do carry a surefire E2D defender and agree the Basel is a bit big. Also I use an SOE belt. Keep up the great videos.
Btw, what sights do you run?
haha! tin foil hat! Sights: telluricgroup.com/products/sevigny-carry-sights-for-glock

Dude perfect trick shots.
Great shoes. I forded a few rivers in the thawing arctic in those things, and my toes didn't fall off.
that's about all I carry too. need to be able to move around. please give me the name of a good tourniquet I'm not going to carry it around my waist I'll probably have it on my leg. thanks John God bless
I know, I know, such a let down! Turns out....I'm just a regular dude!
The more knowledge you carry in your head the less you have to carry on your back (or belt). Great video!
I love how you always preempt the trolls and how you do it with some humor. 👍
I love the trolls in reality! So fun.
Thanks!
Best belts I've found are made by crossbread, good holsters too. Carry on
protac 2L is an excellent light. the new 1L now comes with more lumens and a rep told me that they would be upgrading the 2L with more lumens next.
Forget the grappling hook... A simple bullwhip will take the place of the hook, and provide additional functionality. It's basically the original multi tool.
You are right on the money!!!! I carry the exact same gear everyday.
Best edc in the world is the one that works for you. Good job 👍
Throwing that shit down with authority. Was just watching you on IV8888 and all the comments were about you hucking his guns on the table. Guess that's your signature move.
I love it. Less is more. Outstanding videos.
+titanlp26 thx!
Had to subscribe. Really great channel you have here. Keep up the good work.
Nice core set up! I've yet to get in the habit of packing a tourniquet other than a long strip Velcro strap rolled up. I use Alien Gear Cloak Tuck for my 1911. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks (especially for the tip on the Gerber pen).
We think the same. Love the humor . I carry the same stuff. (Different brands) I do like that light . I will get one next week. Like minded people like your videos.
