    Love 'em! Had one for 11 years, so they get a lot older!
    They also don't need trimming by hand, i never had to.
    I did feed him a lot of crustations.
    At the moment i got 3 young ones, 7 months and going strong.
    Amazing little fellas!

    Hiya mate you have now got the puffer bug!!! I have lots of different puffers over the years and now have two of these in my 500lt heavily planted community tank the aggression between my two is pretty much none existent and totally none existent to the other fish in the tank. You are correct in saying these fish are amazing and great little personalities, just one little tip keep an eye on the nitrates! 🐡🐡🐡😁👍

      Definitely have the puffer bug, look forward to keeping more in the future. I'd love an Mbu one day. Thank you for sharing your experiences, I love the sound of your tank. Also thanks for the tip, I will keep my eye on them! 😃👍

      GeoPhilgus Fishkeeping hiya mate your accent sounds a bit like mine! NW England? As for Mbu's yes amazing fish but in my opinion they should be left in the wild they get far too big and it nearly always ends up in tears, I know from my own experience and the experience from other people. If you want a big personality puffer then I would go for a nile puffer they get to about 18" but they can only be kept on their own 🐡🐡🐡👍

      Yes mate NW England, cool that you recognised it, I often get asked. I agree that the Mbu's get massive, that's why I haven't got one, I just haven't got the facility for one at the moment...and they have an enormous appetite too which turns out pretty expensive. 👍

    Maybe a dumb question. But isn't there a big risk of it biting you when you are doing maintainence in the tank (trimming plants or whatever)?

    Getting my first pea puffer today when they are shipped in. My dream puffer is the mbu puffer because they are so personable.

    • @geophilgusfishkeeping6071
      @geophilgusfishkeeping6071  6 років тому

      How's the pea puffer getting on? The Schoutedeni is similar to the Mbu in many ways including how personable they can be. They just stay a lot smaller. I am still very tempted by an Mbu.

    How is this little guy doing? Couple of questions, how many snails (or total weight of) do you feel each day? Do you have higher flow in the tank or medium? Have you ever left for the weekend and he would be ok to not have fed or do they have to have food each day? Thanks in advance!

    Looking forward to more videos on this one - hopefully picking one up myself in a few days and i could do with all the advice and help I can get with it. My LFS says its feeding it live river shrimp at the moment, does that sound good to you?

    • @geophilgusfishkeeping6071
      @geophilgusfishkeeping6071  6 років тому

      Thanks for your comment - pleased to hear that you are getting one yourself, have you picked it up yet? Live river shrimp sounds okay to me but I would be trying to get it off live foods really or providing your own source of food like a snail colony - it just so happens I discuss this in my latest video, check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks again and enjoy your new addition!

    I know amazon puffers have to have their teeth trimmed no matter what you feed them. Does this also apply to these puffers? They are amazing fish that I would always care for properly, but if there's chance of them not having to have their teeth trimmed by feeding them hard foods, then I would definetly take it.

    • @cowpigcop9903
      @cowpigcop9903 4 роки тому

      From what I've heard and from my experience in keeping one of them, you dont need to trim a Spotted Congo puffers beak. I've even heard that they may not need snails or hard foods at all. I don't feed shelled foods to mine however the tank he is in has plenty of snails if he chose to go after them. (He rarely does).

      @@duncandonuts5268 Yeah in my year of ownership I have had 0 problems with my puffer. He seems incredibly hardy and has honestly been very easy to keep.
      Do you know what ever happened to Cory's group of them? I haven't seen them on his channel in a while.

    Did you name him George because he's from the Congo like curious George and he's yellow like the man in the yellow suit.
