MK1 it such a disappointment. I've never lost so much interest in a MK game so quickly and it's in my top 5 favorite game franchises. I haven't played a full season since Season 1. I played maybe a half hour of season 2. And the last time I touched the game was the day Quan Chi came out. Sorry WB. Turning MK into a chore unsurprisingly makes me not want to play it. The only grinding I want in a MK game should be a part of a fatality.
I enjoyed the story but after that I didn't know what to do in the game. Felt bored and the Kombat pack is mid. I don't even know most of those characters 😂. I deleted the game months ago. Hopefully they fix it and add more content

Using a recent example with the recent Suicide Squad game(which surprisingly is another WB live service mess) it feels like the story ending was rushed just to tie it to the live service seasons. The ending seemed so rushed and jarring. As to the Kombat pack I agree it's overall u underwhelming. It becomes downright gross when you remember each new character requires that ridiculous grind to unlock their stuff. The main game is already a ridiculous grindy mess and now you have to grind just to enjoy the kombat pass characters.

They’ve brought back the MK2/3 ninja skins for 4 games straight now. They should just make them free at this point. Nobody is moved by this. I thought the throwback skins were gonna celebrate some of those cool 3D Era skins, like Armageddon Reptile/Rain or Deception Tanya. These new Mohawk Puke skins are the worst in the game, they need to fire these designers!

I'm so glad I didn't buy this game. People really need to start being more patient and wait before doing something impulsive like pre-ordering something you have no idea is going to be good or bad. I did the same with MKX, waited one entire year before deciding to buy it, and I never regretted it because at that point I knew exactly what I was getting for my money.

I got it in november at almost half price. Still a bad investment. There's no minimum price for this crap, cos of the disservice they are doing to everyone, even the brand itself.
Tekken really set the bar for QOL features and customization, so much so, that even SF6 has to play catch-up. The T8 jukebox completely embarasses SF6's music player, where you either pay for tracks through the BP or have to log in during events for tracks. And where do you get to play them? Training mode, or the designated menu. Meanwhile, you cut on Tekken and can bump whatever you want when you want. Let's not even get to cosmetics, neither. What does MK1 get instead? Green mowhawks. I don't expect a MMO-tier character customization, or even any sort of music player at this stage of the game (i expect it next game, however), but let's at least not have our character creation regress from the previous game, NRS.
I could excuse SF6’s lack of a jukebox if the in-game music was actually good, but somehow they’ve managed to make a Street Fighter game with a shit soundtrack, which is almost unheard of.

Name another fighting game developer putting in the amount of content NRS is...The problem isn't with NRS, it's with a very specific group of individuals who are pushing a narrative. They want validation. The truth is that at it's core this is very much an NRS game in every way. Maybe you're just realizing you don't like NRS games, that's fine, play something else. No game is perfect and MK1 is no exception but it's far from the dumpster fire some pretend it is. NRS games have always received a certain level of toxicity and hate and it's sad to see people trying to weaponize that to get some kind of validation. Look at this patch which would be consider a massive patch in ANY other fighter. They add cross-play, Peacemaker, some QOL and bug fixes and what are these people talking about? That they don't like the skins or that this season is "supposed" to be chaos (Havoc) season and not Huntress (Melina) season.
WB is either content to monetize a sinking ship for as long as they can manage, or they're planning to sell the IP. The stone silence from the dev team may suggest the latter, i.e. they're gagged due to pending business negotiations. However, just riding the IP into the dirt is also plausible considering the fact that SF and TEKKEN have made up huge ground in terms of popularity, and MK is literally banned and not sellable to huge segments of the world population. Maybe WB doesn't perceive enough available marketshare to justify continuing to invest in the future of the franchise, so instead they're cashing out.
They are giving us garbage 🗑️ skins to force many into buying the premium skins. And even what they are selling is cheap looking. I will not spend a penny extra on this game unless it’s over 50% discounted like story DLC. But never ever spend on skins.

Hey Tom, watched a couple of your videos. I think you have a right to complain about the game, as just like most people in the comments, im disappointed with it. I would just like to suggest, would it be possible to try and make a more positive centered video every X videos or so? Dont have to lie, but if you dont like anything new currently in mk1, could do it on some previous mk games. I think people just get caught up in the negativity, and to people like me, can be a bit of a downer hearing people constantly bash something . Zero additional content (I don’t even count invasions as an entity that actually exists on this plane). I haven’t played Tekken in years and actually purchased T8. Blown away by the difference in experiences. And I get that Tekken had much more dev lead time but the core gameplay loop at least is not even evolving in any way that is enjoyable. The free fall this game is in presented NRS with a reality they should not have been able to ignore, and yet they are. What does that tell us? They've apparently decided the brand value of MK is such that no matter how quickly interest dies they've already made enough money in early sales that retaining players is inconsequential. Bi-Han was never supposed to have an unmasked ninja outfit. it was Kuai Liang in MK3 who had that costume. Bi Han only appared in MK1 & UMK3/MKT as Original Subzero, where he wore masked ninja costume in both. NRS dont even know anything about the MK lore. they only know how to force woke BS into the franchise hahah what a circus :D
I'm not going to lie I said I didn't want this game from the jump. Cause I was looking forward to inj3 but after see this game on UA-cam and the 10$ skins and so on I'm glad I stepped back. Not to mention I don't like Ashrah' s design, havic's play style, reptile is too skinny it's a lot of stuff about the game not to mention the DLC guest characters. We went from Freddy and Jason to Robocop and peacemaker they just don't fit MK, more so Injustice.

Name another fighting game developer putting in the amount of content NRS is...The problem isn't with NRS, it's with a very specific group of individuals who are pushing a narrative. They want validation. The truth is that at it's core this is very much an NRS game in every way. Maybe you're just realizing you don't like NRS games, that's fine, play something else. No game is perfect and MK1 is no exception but it's far from the dumpster fire some pretend it is.
NRS games have always received a certain level of toxicity and hate and it's sad to see people trying to weaponize that to get some kind of validation. Look at this patch which would be consider a massive patch in ANY other fighter. They add cross-play, Peacemaker, some QOL and bug fixes and what are these people talking about? That they don't like the skins or that this season is "supposed" to be chaos (Havoc) season and not Huntress (Melina) season.
I find myself almost always using the default skins in this game because most of the skins I have are ugly asf. I miss the customization of MK11

WB is either content to monetize a sinking ship for as long as they can manage, or they're planning to sell the IP.
The stone silence from the dev team may suggest the latter, i.e. they're gagged due to pending business negotiations.
However, just riding the IP into the dirt is also plausible considering the fact that SF and TEKKEN have made up huge ground in terms of popularity, and MK is literally banned and not sellable to huge segments of the world population. Maybe WB doesn't perceive enough available marketshare to justify continuing to invest in the future of the franchise, so instead they're cashing out.

This exactly why I DO NOT play this game anymore. Like it’s honestly so fucking bad, and I’m done trying to act like it’s worth my time in the slightest. I’m angry I payed $100 for incomplete garbage, and without a single word in the Kombat kast addressing concerns. Tekken 8 will always be the talking point of comparison and it’s so damn fun.

@@roof1975 I played with friends and mainly played KL only when I Played. Made it to demi god season one and then didn't really care to sweat anymore beyond that. ESPECIALLY given the desyncing issues plaguing the game, like you can keep defending that garbage, but i'm not.

To the seasoned fighting game player, baing au fait with the notorious reputation of WB-NRS, having experienced what happened to MK's transition from 'X' to '11', then seeing "MK1" in beta, the game was, from the get-go, a literally neon sign flashing *"DO NOT TOUCH ME!!".* In terms of gameplay, aesthetics, lore, and functionality, "MK1" is _by far_ the ugliest iteration that the series has ever been tainted by -- even the casuals-only MK11 was a far more professionally made product than "MK1" is. For all intents and purposes, the MK series is dead to any fan not clinically brain-dead (much more so for gameplay pursits); and won't be revived unless the I. P. is handed to another developer and/or publisher. R. I. P. Mortal Kombat (1992~2023) ⚰

Hey Tom, watched a couple of your videos. I think you have a right to complain about the game, as just like most people in the comments, im disappointed with it. I would just like to suggest, would it be possible to try and make a more positive centered video every X videos or so? Dont have to lie, but if you dont like anything new currently in mk1, could do it on some previous mk games. I think people just get caught up in the negativity, and to people like me, can be a bit of a downer hearing people constantly bash something . At the end of the day, we are fans trying to enjoy the franchise. Just my thoughts though

Keep fighting the good fight Tom. For those who actually care about the game, we know where you’re coming from entirely. Agreed 100% this is abysmal. Zero balance changes. Zero additional content (I don’t even count invasions as an entity that actually exists on this plane). I haven’t played Tekken in years and actually purchased T8. Blown away by the difference in experiences. And I get that Tekken had much more dev lead time but the core gameplay loop at least is not even evolving in any way that is enjoyable.
But hey, go chiefs. They like goofy, goofy is fun. Extra game on the lunch breaks. And all that amazing commentary that we get from the kombat kasts.
This company blows. Completely tone deaf. Supposed to be the most “creative and filled with variety MK to date”. Yeah it’s not even close. Got boring as hell after the first month.

It tells us they've decided piss poor support for their games is something they can afford, quite literally. They've apparently decided the brand value of MK is such that no matter how quickly interest dies they've already made enough money in early sales that retaining players is inconsequential. Warner brothers actually rushed the game to get out so it's not all nether realms fault. Attack wb not just the studio. From what I've seen about it they asked for more time to work on the game and wanted cross play ready on release and Warner brothers refused so can people start attacking the people responsible WB not nether realms.

Bi-Han was never supposed to have an unmasked ninja outfit. it was Kuai Liang in MK3 who had that costume. Bi Han only appared in MK1 & UMK3/MKT as Original Subzero, where he wore masked ninja costume in both. NRS dont even know anything about the MK lore. they only know how to force woke BS into the franchise hahah what a circus :D

I'm not going to lie I said I didn't want this game from the jump. Cause I was looking forward to inj3 but after see this game on UA-cam and the 10$ skins and so on I'm glad I stepped back. Not to mention I don't like Ashrah' s design, havic's play style, reptile is too skinny it's a lot of stuff about the game not to mention the DLC guest characters. We went from Freddy and Jason to Robocop and peacemaker they just don't fit MK, more so Injustice.

Nrs is failure at this point. I definitely should’ve listened to the noise when it was first announced. I’m perfectly fine admitting I was wrong about this game being good. Definitely an eye opener, won’t be spending a dime on any up coming nrs games moving forward. Hopefully this was enough for everyone else to use there wallets next time. I give it to there marketing team, because mannn do they know how to manipulate an audience lol.
