E-TRAC Gets its First GOLD! Metal Detecting My Old School Grounds

- Metal detecting hunt 38 for the year at my elementary school yard..I first metal detected here back in 1981 with my Compass Coin Hustler..After 1995 i didn't come back to this place for nearly 25 years until a couple years ago...Now i come here a couple times a year just to be in the place it started for me...Strangely i pointed directly at the spot i found the gold ring about an hour before i dug it(Thumbnail Photo).....Although i doubt that ring was laying there when i was a kid but i'm still glad to have it.

COngrats on the GOld Ring :) Yayyy... Man i wish i could use a shovel at my parks an schools. I have to careful with my plugs too. I cut them into a C shape an leave roots connected so it grows back faster. 2 pages of Rules here Hahhaha. Love coins plucking :) Great that you get to detect your old school you went to. Honestly, if you can't get excited about pulling up a nice gold ring like that you're in the wrong hobby! By the way, I'm surprised that small coil goes that deep on that machine. Just tells you how deep it really goes with the big coil.
It was just totally unexpected...I never find gold..I cherry pick to much...

I've had the Etrac for around 14 years and only found 1 gold cluster ring. I think that was only because there was some silver in the setting.
I've done air tests on gold with everything open and it hasn't even registered?
I don't understand it?
Any suggestions?

Not sure...Have you ever did a factory reset? I do it every time i swap coils...Gold rings up no problem for me..

I have swapped the coils but don’t remember resetting it so I’ll give that a go.
I was also interested to see your preferred discrimination program too. I must revisit this section of Andy Sabisch’s Etrac handbook which explains how to do it.

My discrim pattern is changing all the time...I try to open it up as much as possible but running it wide open it difficult in multi tone..Most of the time my pattern is similiar to factory coins mode but i open it up a little more..
