It's amazing that my Grandfather and the Kitselman Brothers were not mentioned; when the Kitselman Steel & Wire company in Muncie employed 11,000 people (the largest employer in Indiana in 1914) and brought a lot of business to the City of Muncie. The only mention of my family is an incorrect statement that my Great Uncle Harry Kitselman had the Over House on Washington Street and had KKK meetings there in the late 20's. Harry Kitselman died in Hollywood California in 1921. Another reason it surprises me that they aren't mentioned is because the Kitselman family and the Ball family were the two families studied in the Middletown book examining the effect of industrialization on an American town. A. L. Kitselman Senior built Hazelwood in 1913, a very large estate with a private lake in the front with fountains lit with colored lights, which is now on the National Registry of Historic Places. It's one of the biggest, if not the biggest, residence in Muncie and looks a little like the White House.

Your family provided Muncie job opportunities income to the city from taxes, and a large donation to Muncie history. Thank you so much for sharing the correct information.

Thank you for making this video! Really enjoyed it, very well done; although there are some inaccuracies regarding my Uncle Harry Kitselman. The Kitselman family was not raised to be racist, in fact, quite the opposite. IF the home on Washington Street was used as a regional HQ for the KKK, I'm sure it was not during the time my Uncle owned that home. I've found no evidence that the Progressive Party of Indiana was partially funded by the KKK ~ it would have been opposite to the party's objectives: "The Progressive party advocated progressive positions such as government ownership of railroads and electric utilities, cheap credit for farmers, the outlawing of child labor, stronger laws to help labor unions, more protection of civil liberties, an end to American imperialism in Latin America, and a referendum before any president could lead the nation into war." So I think that speaker was mistaken when he said that. For a long time there had been some Republicans who stood for a change in their party's leadership. These men wanted it to be more responsive to the will of the people at all times. Corruption in state and local politics was growing, and the Progressive Party wanted that corruption to stop. This defines the Progressive Party. Especially in these times when we are finally facing the injustice done to African American people here, please be careful when you shade a family. Thanks so much

Hi Suzette Kitselman, thank you for sharing this information. This is a documentary I worked on as an editor at Ball State University for a work study course when I was a senior in college. Please share this information with the telecommunications program so they are aware and can ensure accurate information is being shared. Students produced several documentaries alongside staff members on historic preservation in Muncie, Indiana and I believe they still may be. The website is historicmuncie.org

I've recently been reading a lot about your uncle. And the mansion on University. I've been wanting to metal detect that property for years! Lol. The history of Muncie, my hometown, is fascinating to me as I get older. A lot of history. But it's really cool to see your name on a UA-cam video i'm watching.

While watching your very informative video Mr. Dillinger was mentioned. My father in law’s father worked at the Rivolie theater. He worked there for 50 years. When they where cleaning out the theater of everything they could keep he found a gun in the wall. Still have that gun. He says it’s Dillinger’s gun? Don’t know. Just got the gun , the story of a very good man. I wonder if it could be true?
