Loved your detailed and very fair review. We sailed the transatlantic and really enjoyed our time onboard. One thing I can’t believed you missed 😀 the two scenic aft elevators are amazing. Lovely awake view and looks down on the Infinity Pool. Also a great way to get around the back of the ship. There are large aft facing ‘balconies’ (for want of a better description) close to the scenic elevators and you can also walk up and down the outside stairs. Great quiet sail away view.
My. understanding is that the bigger ship the crew are working more hours and they aren't happy about that. Few are not wanting to work on the Sun. We are booked for the transatlantic and can not wait to see it. It looks amazing.
I’ve watch hundreds of tour videos, this is the best by far. I usually have to watch several videos before subscribing to someone. Not even half way thru this video, as my first of yours, I subbed. Excellent by guy! Going to be on this ship Dec 14th
My favorite get away spots were Deck 19 with the cushioned chairs and the loungers on the 18th on both sides right before the Sanctuary entrances. Although we were over 4k capacity on the Oct. 14th cruise it never felt overwhelmingly crowded on the ship.
I just came across your channel and was watching some of your other videos. I also have a daughter named Katelyn with a baby B of her own. Cruising with grandbabies is the best! We were on the Sun Princess just down the hall from you. The ship reminds me of an older home that has been remodeled. Everything inside is beautiful and new but the layout could be better. The biggest miss for me on this cruise was how they handled the queue for the show in the Dome. They have had months to realize the problem and find a solution so it felt like it isn't really that important to them. Even opening the doors earlier so people can wait comfortably or using the outside deck right by the bar as the place for people to line up would be an improvement. At least there would be fresh air and the line wouldn't be blocking the elevators. Someone else suggested handing out tickets at a certain time during the day so people could get in as long as they got there by a certain time. It didn't help that the crew member at the door to the bar wouldn't let me hand my grandbaby to her parents while I went to the back of the line. She just kept saying the bar was at capacity but then a few minutes later let someone in to join their group. All in all, I don't think the show was worth the hassle. Having said that, there were more hits than misses for me on this ship and there was nothing so serious that it ruined my vacation.
Spot on. We also thought some of the issues we experienced should have been fixed after 6 months. I’m not sure how much the done was used in Europe though. They will get figured out I’m sure. Glad you enjoyed time with family! That’s what it is all about!!!!!!
We go on November 9th. Will be my 13th princess cruise and my wife and our friends second cruise. We can’t wait. Thank you very much for the video. I appreciate your fair appraisal of the ship. We look forward to sailing on Sun Princess for two weeks during Christmas and New Year. We are seasoned cruisers going back and forth between Celebrity and Princess and completely agree that no cruise is going to be perfect and that if something needs to be addressed during the cruise, you can call it to the attention of the staff in a professional manner. Complaining on social media doesn't fix the "issue", assuming the "complaint" is valid. From my vantage point, I look forward to the design changes in this Sphere class of ship. We will adjust to the new! And, whatever design flaws that exist can be fixed in future Sphere class ships.

We are loyal Princess travellers, the only class we have not cruised yet (but are in a few months) is the Royal Class. We sailed on the Sun in May and loved the ship. The staff were all amazing and we had no complaints about the food. Yes, she's laid out a lot different from the other Princess ships but it only took a couple of days to get accustomed. We were a little disappointed with the Wheelhouse, as it is one of our favourites, and thought that if they were making that much of a change they should have changed the name. We notice on the Enchanted (our next cruise) they have a Crown Lounge outside of the Crown Grill. Seems it would make more sense to name it that now that it is across from the Gill. Regardless, we loved the ship and after we disembark the Enchanted in Feb we are getting right back on the Sun to enjoy and explore all the secret places we didn't find the first time around. Thank you for your very honest review. By the way, the medallions did work very well in the Mediterranean, however batteries were an issue and they did need to be replaced before the end of our 14 day trip.
Great review thank you for your honest opinion this will be my second cruise my first was Disney for the kids and this will be just me and my love this will be his first cruise. we are so looking forward to it, we will be on the Jan.25 sail date so I really hope the kinks are fixed by then either way we are excited to relax and enjoy adult time together

Thank you for this video. Have been sailing with Princess for 20 years. Loved the Coral, the Island, the Tahitian, the old Regal, the new Regal, the Royal, the Crown and more. Thank you for showing what I needed to see. This new design is a mess. No thanks. I’ll stick to the older ships until they are rotated out. Sorry, but it was nauseating just looking at this discombobulated mishmash of a ship. But I appreciate your candid video.
Thanks for the kind words. It took some getting used to but overall it was ok. We loved the many restaurants. Our favorite is the Regal Princess though. We will be on the Coral Princess next year and looking forward to it.
@@ftbeat the Coral was our first cruise with Princess in 2004. We loved it. Great size ship, IMO. We sailed her sister, the Island, LA-HI-LA. One of our best cruises. The Coral is older now. Will be interested if you do a video and how she’s doing.
Your video was more nicer than the other videos. It is like older princess travelers complaining. Inaugural cruises have issues which people are ok with. This ship looks really nice. You have a ship with gelato certified by Italy. You had probably the best cruise you can have. You had each individual inspired there as you name drop there names. How cool to have sushi done by the guy. I am thinking this might be my next ship. The thing I would gripe is the gym not with a decent view. The jogging track looks so strange. No true walking section. I can see why the obstacle course is not working out. This ship looks like old people so not a good idea. Because of the cost and structure set up could make a small waterslide with multiple slides in that area. You did a couple of gripes but I was ok with them.
Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed it. We've gone through the "growing pains" of Sun Princess because we booked while it was still being built. We booked a Reserve Collection Cabana Mini Suite on Deck 9. And we booked for the Deck 19 amenities because we are doing next year's Transatlantic and wanted those extras for those multiple sea days. Hopefully the email that we received that we will be grandfathered into the Sanctuary restaurant will be true. This will be our first experience with Princess as we are not loyalists and I am still looking forward to our cruise on Sun. Question: We chose Plus and from what I'm hearing about the pizza on the lido being so good, I'm thinking we should choose O'Malley as our casual dining choice? Is it open lunch and dinner? Same menu at both times? (If it's even open at both times) Can you reserve a time or is it first come, first serve?
I’m sailing tomorrow on the Sun Princess, and do you recommend making specialty dining reservations? I haven’t made any bc the app wouldn’t let me, but will walk up be available? We plan on only using specialty dining anyways even though we have the Sanctuary Balcony with Sanctuary dining included.
I highly recommend making them on the app as soon as you board. It should open up once connected to the ships wifi. There really was no walk up available for any specialty restaurants. The Sanctuary restaurant was really good though. The Prime Rib was amazing.

We love how modern the ship is, and with 4200 pax its not too big! Really enjoyed the ship and the Sanctuary pool was nice and quiet with great views.
Princess is generally an older crowd and there were kids onboard. We spoke to one of the parents and they said their children adored the kids club. Christmas and summer will see many more children. I would bring my grandchildren.

Question, towards the end of the video you talk about your experience in the Crown Grill and that you went back to eat there and that it was a $15 up charge? Did you mean to say that? Can you please clarify? We've watched the video several times and we hear you saying $15. Please let me know......thanks.
Hi. For the specialty steaks from the Nolan Ryan ranch there is a $15 per person additional charge. I’m sure the included steaks were good, but the one we had was one of the best I ever had (and I’m a steak snob lol).
It’s the forward elevator in case you are unable to figure that out onboard. There are maps and apps that show you the way. IAnd aren’t you interested in the shops? Most people like that type of information.
I just can't get into sameness and trends dictating a product. So, the "in" colors are what's known as putty or greige or taupe and muted and so many new ships have to do this in order to seem "contemporary." they also have to go with this recessed type of lighting, stadium lighting, semi in the round theaters, etc. The Wheelhouse lounge offers none of the richness of the area should have because of the colors and need to be "contemporary." It's just not necessary. Not every area of a ship needs to be the same. Contrast is good. O'Malley's offers a contrast to the rest of the areas that's noticeable. This ship is an example of feature matching copycat design rather than being Princess. NCL and Celebrity did the same nonsense in their newest class of ships as well. I don't find it "beautiful," I find it predictable and lacking in personality.

Going in March 2025. We can’t wait. I am traveling with two teens so I hope they will have fun too since park 19 has been dismantled.
I will be back on in December. Hopefully they will convert that area to a sports court soon.

Have you seen kids on this cruise? We want to go with a group (ages 7 - 75 yrs). Curious what your thoughts are if kids will enjoy?

Why didn't you tell us which elevator bank you were on, especially for Guest Services only by one elevator????? And why obsess about the shops???
