This has now become "the wandering comedian sarcastically talking about the commercial filmmaking industry" and i love it!
there’s more where that came from. Pretty soon we will drop the filmmaking stuff all together
@@wanderingdp amazing, that’s why I subscribed to you - waiting for the real film breakdowns to start ✊🏼
“1ad daughter” “old man checking his Tinder” made my Day 🤙🤣 thanks for best comment, I love it, really so much Fun, watching your breakdowns!
V K I was about to comment the same thing. I’m loving how much personality is in these!
funny because ADs love bringing their kids to set
I‘m checking youtube daily just to see if theres a new breakdown by the wandering dp. Loving it 👏🏻
Those are some ROUND buildings at 3:00, like you said. Hopefully the lens, and not the engineer's fault lol
It’s the old feature not a bug debate
All of UA-cam is thirsting over the latest camera... just get yourself a t3i and watch this channel. If you master lighting and exposure the limitations of your gear, the need for all the extra latitude practically evaporates. Get a cinema camera with these skills and you’re unstoppable.
As casual and funny as you are knowledgeable. Incredible content. This should be in the top 3 channels for aspiring filmmakers.
I love your videos. I started taking videography and photography seriously this past year and for months UA-cam kept throwing hacky "be a filmmaker in 20 minutes!" videos at me that never went deeper than reiterating the exposure triangle for the thousandth time. Finally UA-cam blessed me by putting you in my recs and I feel like I'm drinking from a firehose now.
The imaginary convos you make between production is life.
Imaginary???
Mate I Lost my shit when you said "I am sitochi nakamoto" i have never had a weird random giggle till now.
What a way to come out. Been waiting 12 years to get that off my chest
Shout out to the 1st Ad's daughter. LOL. And the old man checking his Tender!
real talk
I learn so much about lighting from these and your voice is relaxing and chill. Thanks for making these.
If my family thought the same about my voice the holidays would be way cooler
I really enjoy watching your tutorials! 👌🏽
Great breakedown mate , apreciate it !
Totally new to all this but really appreciating your output levels.. got to get patreon'd up for the movie breakdowns...
do it
So now when I watch movies I start hearing your voice breaking down scenes😂😂😂
you can never undo that. I should put a disclaimer on the front of these.
Sorry
So glad I discovered these videos! Incredibly helpful, thank you sir 🙏🏻
👍🏼
Seriously can't get enough of these. Not to mention your wonderful (cynical) analyses of the workings on a set/client relations.
I like seeing the quick play of the commercial in the beginning , it takes the element out of the commercial, so i can just focus more on the breakdown...
Invaluable. You’re the man!!!
You betta believe it
Love your dry humor 😄
awesome as always.
Seriously, you're amazing and such a pleasure to watch !
And such a pleasure to listen to!
Please tell my family
@@wanderingdp haha!
Love the deadpan humor, boss.
This was great man, thanks. I'm a director looking to up my lighting skills. Subscribed.
You're my genius of lighting but you're also the king of comic!! You so funny!
👀 *shakes head* "You're not getting a crane up here.." Haha
you know the look
Love that the imaginary producer was female too!
can a learn alot about what NOT to do from this video. Great to see the flaws, and understand how to overcome them
9:20 Can't you just wrap some thick diffusion paper around the bulb to get it down a stop or two? Or some ND gel? Seems like a pretty easy fix for me. And dimmers are like what, 10 bucks? Seems weird to me that an ad of this level doesn't have the gear to bring down that little practical.
you are assuming there are any F’s on set to be handed out during that scene. My experience would say the contrary
Literally got this ad right after I watched the video LOL btw love all the vids
funny or scary? they are watching
well done! thanks!
oh yeeeeeeeeee
Patrick! love your videos, im learning so much! @ 9:00 - when you do your shortcut, i think your cursor needs to be on the screen/preview window otherwise it didnt seem to work. just a theory!
Cool thanks for your 👍👍👍
Hey man , first I have to say thank you for this precious youtube channel. Such a blessing !!!!! But I was wandering what device are you using to draw on the screen . I really need to get something like that. Please, Thank you!
I always want to see anamorphic! 😄
forget the quality lighting approach breakdown, the advertising commentary is the best
Hey man, love the show. Can you tell us more about your key light? it rocks :) cheers.
See description
I love your content! One quick question, what is your workflow for adding the drawing on top of your screen?
Nice video. Shooting in the bright office up high....Wouldn't ND film on the inside of the window be useful to minimize the contrast ratio problem?
I'm trying to figure out what nets are this commercials using :(
Favorite UA-cam comedy channel no doubt, maybe second to WatchMojo for me.
get your priorities straight
@@wanderingdp Patrick, here's what i'm thinking, hear me out. Stop with all the amazing, valuable, insightful breakdowns. Start doing gear reviews, while not working in the industry, sell some presets. Boom. You've made it.
Great breakdown! Whats your keyboard? I like the sound of it ;)
xxxtra clicky 2000
hahha good stuff, man.
A breakdown of your studio setup would be awesome👍🏿
Same
Definitely
100k subs video
@@wanderingdp Well we all need to work together to get you to 100k subs👍🏿in due time my friend.
Best educational videos coming from you. Thanks a lot. I didn't undestand in the lady shot when you said "this is downstage lighting" in relation with her sight direction. I thought up and down were mesured in relation with the camera and the background. I'm wrong?
It’s the line that determines the stage
@@wanderingdp The horizon line? From subject to horizon is upstage and from subject to "us" would be downstage? It was the way I used to understand it when you say it, but I understand in this one you make a difference in relation with the direction of the sight and I felt lose... Thanks for taking the time for answering, is too kind from you 🙏
For the shot of the old man would a scrim work? Since it seems they were going for the harsh light look?
Might do
What software are you using to draw on screen?
Do you do any consulting where you review people’s work and give feed back?
yes. if you’ve got bitcoin I’ve got time
Could you nd the windows in the office shot to controll the level from outside ?
If that window is being used to key the actor, that would not only control the level outside but also get him less light too. It would ended up being the same that just expose for the outside .. and more time consuming, no?
😍😍😍
Schizopolis of the Cinematographer's realm...spot on
What resources are there to find the good commercials that you break down? Where do you find them?
It helps having a podcast where folks send you nice things
@@wanderingdp Ah, yes. I'm sure that's nice.
could you do a breakdown of your own setup? what u shoot on/light with/etc
100k subs video
Thanks for the breakdown. Out of curiosity, wonder what it costs to produce this video???
if you have to ask...
Old man swipes LEFT! #DENIED
how about a $5 dimmer on the lamp.
Case of CBFs on the day
it worked. it didnt. yes it worked. it didnt. it works.
perseverance
Im a simple man. I see new video from wandering dp, I click
free bird!!!
Couldn't find him on Tinder. Disappointed.
Keep swiping
Nice you're a bitcoiner too
Pathetic on the youuuu.... More
