James, you are a godsend to those of us who haven't had the time or space to get fully set up in the hobby due to health and other demands! That applies to your gift to us in your service to the country as well. My test bench even looks like a small subset of your layout which is exactly along the lines of what I want to have going forward. Thanks for being there. I don't know how you could be any better!
Just watched a video review by Daniel Lucas. His 108 has ground lighting. Not sure how he got it to come on, but I believe they have ground lighting. Excited to get 160 and 161 in!
I got the 108 and I love it. I changed the K5LA on it but it’s a very nice model. Still waiting on the 100 but 100 won’t be out until march because they are trying to get the blue correct on it
After 30 months of waiting Athearn couldn’t even make a phase v locomotive. Anybody know what’s up with Athearn? I’ve been waiting on my Surfliners for 30 months too.
Why did it take Horizon Hobby take so long to release this models, I pre ordered #46 from Train World almost two years ago and finally getting this weekend.
Guessing the pandemic had a lot to do with it, China really didn't get back to normal till earlier this year. Still waiting on the SD38's that were announced in July 2021!
I didn't notice if you mentioned the numbers are not the same on each side. The left side is too high and the right side is at the correct height according to the actual locomotive.
I got the ones from Kato. With some minor detail upgrades and added ESU loksound V5 make slightly better then Athearn. I do have a Via Rail on preorder.
Athearn should really learn from Scale Trains and Rapido. I believe there is no QC to cut cost. Shame on them to produce a Genesis line of locomotive with such a glaring defect.
Given the ridiculous amount Athearn is charging for these, I would’ve hoped for see thru grills throughout. But alas, these are the same bluebox shells with a few added details. Another overpriced swing and a miss.
Thanks for being the voice of model railroading.

Which one are you tending to get first?
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 I have 8 from this run ordered ..all of the heritage /anniversary engines Nd some Phase IVs .
The miss print on #46 should make it a collectors item.
not really, they are all that way
Nice! I just got Amtrak P42DC #160 Pepsi Can (Dash 8) With DCC & Sound From TrainWorld!
Great vid, 2021 was their 50th anniversary. So they have been in service for 52 years

They don't have them from the factory, he clearly stated in his video that he added those ground lights.
Does the front numberboard on the nose light up?
I see p42 I click
Great review. You're right, the 46 should be a lot lower.
That 108 looks sweet!
yep, love it!
These are very nice, wondering when the release of the via units is coming
Just got mine in today I got #46 it’s a beautiful engine but I’m very disappointed by the misplacement of the number.

hello James it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks James Friends Randy
It looks like the #46 engineer’s side is lower than the other side’s #46? What you think??
yes that was a mistake I mentioned in the video a few times.
Did Athearn acknowledge the mistake with the 46?
I just picked up mine today! #108
Love it they look great hopefully my birthday tomorrow I can get me one are they ok on 22 inch curve
that would be good timing! yes they are fine on 22 inch curves.
Did you do a review on the Union Pacific Big Boy and if so how many freight cars could it pull in Ho Scale.
Man I have to get the train

I want to place an order on the California Bi Levels but there’s literally been 0 update for about a year.
Surfliner car supposed to arrive next October but don’t hold your breath
Did the first run have Lit numberboards
What function are the rear marker lights on? I have Amtrak 46 and they aren’t coming on. The marker lights in the front work
front should come on in reverse and vice versa. Try F5, F6.
I have 46 on order right now!!
nice!

They claimed because of the chip shortage.
Do they also make them in DC
yes msrp of 209 on dc only
Yup, all of them also come in DCC Ready (in other words, DC only)
I didn't notice if you mentioned the numbers are not the same on each side. The left side is too high and the right side is at the correct height according to the actual locomotive.
yes i did mention that several times throughout the video
Where’s 203?
Still on pre-order
203 is delayed until Spring of 2024
@@jlwii2000are the P40s delayed until Spring 2024 as well?

Yeah because Scaletrains and Rapido have such a great QC track record. LOL!
