Y'all do such great work. Gameranx is a large part of why I'm pursuing a career as an attorney in the video game industry. Please keep providing some of the fairest, most comprehensive video game commentary on the internet. I've loved watching more people engage with video games as an artistic medium, and I truly believe that outlets like Gameranx are essential in cultivating that perspective!

@@agentnacho2029 you can choose to take any sort of cases as a freelance attorney. Some people focus on injury. Some people focus on criminal defense. Focusing on Video games is just another field that needs more focus. It's not necessarily a career itself. It's just the freedom of being an attorney that's not with a law firm.

That question about comic book heroes that cant work in adventure games is a faulty premise, any character superhero or no, can work in a video game provided you build the game mechanics and genre around the elements of the character. Your Punisher/Hitman idea sounds great. My holy grail, bucket list of hero games I need are Daredevil (Spiderman traversal with Arkham style combat), and the craziest idea: an Ant-Man game in which you can shrink & grow at will in game play.

Bro the helldivers 2 one is a game changer to me, i was getting exhausted due to battle pass grinding trend from other live service games and was actively avoiding those trends while wishing a good active multiplayer base game to play with my buddies. Then Helldiver came and we sunk almost 100hrs on it already. I hope it sets the trends for the future of how to handle live service a right way, respecting people time and not actively reaching for players’ wallet.

    • @JimTheFly
      @JimTheFly 2 місяці тому

I haven't been able to play Helldivers 2 yet (craptop and PS4 here), but from everything I've heard, it's pretty much a case of nothing on that battle pass really helping you to play. I'm also a Destiny player and that pass is full of "Hey, this will help you upgrade your gear" or "Have a new weapon from this season" or "Here's some seasonal armor that will drop at a slightly higher level". And it just feels like I NEED to grind out that pass to get everything, even though I have more than I need for just about everything. HD2 just seems like "Hey, want some other Cool Shit to add to general fun?"

Love the Q&As - and I do feel that playing more than one game at a time is a skill. I’ve gotten to the point where I can play different games at the same time, but for my brain, usually only one of them can be new to me. I heard it’s good mental exercise (and it’s also fun.) AND - I too am technically bad at video games, but that doesn’t stop me from playing and having a blast.

Regarding Superman stories being weird I couldn’t agree more! People that dismiss Superman as boring instantly identify themselves as knowing very little about him or the status quo of his books. Gunn introducing The Engineer and The Authority in a Superman film is wild and so fitting IMO. People are not going to know what hit them if he pulls off Supes, the City of Tomorrow and Supermans cast of characters right.

Jake, I feel you with playing stuff on stream. I have a habit of super-focusing in games and realizing that I'm not interacting with chat or making any comments because I'm getting lost in the game. Especially if it's a first playthrough because it's something that I don't want to miss anything of the gameplay or cinematics. Oddly enough, that tended to be a draw when I was doing my F1 streams because I would be locked into the races and it'd somehow be appealing to people....

My Question is do you think we'll ever get to the point where Nintendo begins to matchup with its competitors in terms of releases/design, I love nintendo so much and they're definitely the most unique of the big 3 but i can't help but feel they've become a bit formulaic in their "uniqueness". I would love to see them create a proper online ecosystem similar to PSN / Xbox Live(rip) and potentially even release some titles on PC, Mario Kart would do gangbusters with online PC imo

We got given his PS1 with MGS1 and I completed it then begged my parents to buy a PS2. We got it, I loved it, then it wasn't long until MGS3 came out. Still my favourite game of all time. I remember the end's fight seeming to go on forever. I replayed it recently and completed that fight in about 3 minutes haha but it was still great at the time. I think we had gameboys before this happened but console gaming at the time was a different experience

Long long ago when Asherons Call first came out I got in at the beginning. There were no quest markers, just npcs giving vague clues you had to sort out yourself. The magic casting system forced you to randomly combine physical components until you randomly discovered a spell. I had notebooks full of spell combos, coordinates for dungeons etc. the world felt SO REAL and not like a scripted game.
Have you ever had a game that made you feel so immersed like you were actually part of it? I miss that type of experience.

Hey Jake! I love Spiderman, but most of that love comes from video games and movies. I have absolutely zero knowledge about superhero comics and was wondering where I should start if I wanted to get into Spiderman comics. Thanks as always for the videos

I’m so old that my game that made it click was Last Ninja on C64.
I had played quite a bit of game before, like Spy Hunter and Intellvision games such as Bump n Jump, but Last Ninja was the whole package. For the time great music, great gameplay, fantastic graphics and story (kind of).

Hey Jake! Huge fan here. How often do you go back to older titles which you haven't played at all before? I'm a patient gamer atm and mostly I play are games which have been out for a while and so I asking this.

Lies of P honestly felt so much like a Bioshock game with a Souls twist to me. It inspired me to replay the original Bioshock after all these years. It is still a masterpiece of the medium 17 years later from the opening cutscene onward. I was blown away how well it aged.

Jake I feel the same way about switching between games. Because I switch between so many different consoles, controllers, and controls for each individual game, I also pride myself on my ability to just switch up quickly from a FPS on PC to some weirdly controlling game like Super Mario Galaxy with the Nunchuck and Wii-mote😂

Question: do you ever play some of your favorite games as a small break if you are playing a bad game for a before you buy? Or do you just push through like a chad?
    Love the content!

Do you think toxic avenger would work great as a video game? Showed a buddy of mine the first one awhile back and we were both cracking up about how great of a video game it would be, something in the vain of a GTA

Lol, I remember playing Toy Story 2 on GBC as a kid, so hearing that one about TS3 on DS got me, too.

I grew up on the NES, and then I got PlayStation 1 for Christmas. I got the Bug’s Life game and my sister got Tomb Raider, which scared me with the dark lighting motif. T-Rex was terrifying!!

With Shadow the Hedgehog having a big comeback this year with Sonic Movie 3 & Sonic X Shadow Generations. I have to ask, what was your introduction to the Sonic series, and ultimately (no pun intended) Shadow? For me, it was Sonic X, years before picking up my very first Sonic game, with Rivals 2 on the PSP. Loved that game!
Anyway, love the work you & the GameRanx team do! :)
