First time here as for the steel beam because its a old house with corners everywhere you might find it way easier to go through the bathroom window as long as it opens up wide enough. Congrats on the work you've got done within the house it's looking pretty good so far plus you know it's going to last the rest of your life not like the newbuilds you see around now, they're only built to last the life of a mortgage if you're lucky!!!
@@lawannarobinson9900 you don't need to tell me. Within 6 months of moving into ours the whole staircase came away from the wall!!! Bloody nightmare getting the company back to sort it!!
Hi yaa. Great too see your current projects and getting the most out of the space in a small workshop. Just found your brilliant Podcast Measuring Up and listened up to #22 from 2 year ago. Loving your insights with Peter, very informative and entertaining while driving my posh supermarket artic around London. Looking forward to attending Maker Central 3 when it next gets the go ahead.
Liked the wood boxing over the bay window under the plaster. My 1998 build has thin metal sheet (possibly box of some kind) covering thermaliite blocks under the plaster above every window making it a nightmare to hang blinds or curtains. Yours will be a dream the way you’ve done it. More envy for me 😉
Andy, this is just the best video. So many memories in that. Peters squares and mitre station made me smile. Still have use mine I copied from your original video. The makers central sign still looking bob on.
“I should be wearing a mask” is your new catch phrase whenever you’re in the loft 😀 Really enjoying the progress on this, it’s a therapeutic watch, probably because you’re such a tidy worker.

Looks like you are winning Andy, looking good. Can't believe you still have the Dewalt DW745 "Flappy Paddle" I sent you. (I have sold about 60 so far) When you get a minute in 2029 you ought to fit it to your saw and you would not have to use a 6ft piece of ply to stop your saw...🤣.. Anyway see you again on "D&J Projects" UA-cam channel sometime.
the tablesaw outfeed conundrum is one reason an old-timer I know put a small hatch/window in the back wall of his tiny workshop so he could run long stock. :) In my own workshop, the saw location is also cramped, and complicated by having a path from an overhead door that needs to be kept clear, and a steel post holding up a mezzanine. The outfeed points to the back wall where there are shelves for lumber storage, and clearly demarked zone that must be kept clear to be able to split an 8x4 sheet of plywood, which just* clears the post for the mezzanine, and i have *just* up to 8 feet to the left of the blade, if the plywood slides along the bench for the miter saw. :)
Sorry if I missed you saying what your "temporary" workshop will become... just being nosey 😃 loving the workshop and envious... what wi the room become?
Instead of blocking up your window completely, you could put a sheet of perspex across it, this would protect your expensive window but still allow you to see out of your workshop...
With that being a bathroom, is it worth replacing the whole ceiling with a more water vapour friendly material? Something which doesn’t need painting and maintaining etc? Just thinking as it’s lathe and plaster and sone of the ceiling is now down anyway. Loving the videos as always. 👍
That ceiling must be completely down by now. If I know anything about lath and plaster ceilings with experience it's once you start cutting it back you soon end up ripping the lot out. I tried to save mine when a builder took out the studs from a partition wall I stripped back to open up and damaged it. Wasn't long before I decided to pull it down, cross batten and board a fresh.
you should try cutting templates similar shape to yours, by six times, to be cut out of 8"x6" H iron beams, so i could install three dormers in the old primary school i converted to live in, a bit stressful although most of my hair had gone by that stage😂
That Dewalt table saw dust adaptor is a pain in the arse! It obviously needs to be easy to remove but surely Dewalt could’ve designed a spring clip or something for quick release. It’s far too easy to pull out.
Stick the old sink on the side of the workshop and run some cold water to it. Nothing worse than taking dirty hands etc into the house. House is coming along great buddy. You'll have to do a Ged Joiner and have a hole in your window so you can cut the long leagths of wood on your table saw. 😄😄😄
