I freaking love this video. He rode through pretty much all of all of spots I dig and go to as well. And I live half a mile south of Griffith Park so I’m riding/running up there all the time. Very nice.
I always knew Taylor would end up in echo park/highland park area. Suits him well and it’s cool to see someone like him there.
Both of his parents rode in the 1984 olympics in LA. Mom won a gold medal, dad a bronze.

Someone asked about his frame bag, surely it would have to be Rapha? I know they do bags like that and they sponsor....Taylor is such an awesome ambassador for the sport. He also features in some great short doco style movies with the two Aussie Morton brothers in 'Thereabouts'. Best cycling movies ever! LA gets a bad rap for being too congested and for having an overall lack of effective public transportation. Phinney is going around proving that stereotype to be inaccurate. The message is still simple: ride your dang bicycle.

When I lived in L.A., I'd ride my Columbus framed Italian bicycle from the San Fernando Valley, through Burbank, Griffith Park, and turn around at Dodger Stadium. I'd ride early, before listless drivers filled the streets.
Don't live in L.A. anymore. Now I ride over miles and miles of dirt roads, animals paths, and well maintained gravel roads. I don't breathe in auto exhaust; I am not nearly hit by inattentive drivers, and I don't see graffiti, ghettos, barrios, homeless, gang bangers, and filthy streets. I do see coyotes, snakes, and many types of small animals. On long rides, I take a break under a Joshua tree and take in the natural, unspoiled beauty.
I don't miss Los Angeles.
