Some would argue who was Iowa's greatest football coach. In my opinion it was, by far, Forest Evashevski. Here is the reason why. Most of his teams, and he only coached for 9 years, finished the season ranked in the AP Top Ten. The '53, '56, '57, '58 and 1960 teams. No Iowa coach can, or ever will be able to, claim that distinction. You can site what conditions existed at the time, any reasons why and anything else. But those are some of the cold, hard facts. There are others. And they trump any modifiers anyone could put on his record!
