Great video. Came across it after getting a 2016 model and looking to find more info. This video also highlighted something important on out 113k mile car - timing belt needs doing at 124k miles. Funny thing is, I noticed the L&L on your jacket, and then saw name of your channel - I was planning to bring my car to MB Hertford for advise about servicing, as I live nearby. I'll see you soon.
OK so I watched this to see if there are any issues I could expect with my late 2019 A180 which I've had for about 2 years. Your video was informative enough to give prospective buyers an idea of what to expect and the choice of models available, but nowhere did you mention anything about reliability or potential known problems with the exception of a misting up rear light cluster (if I remember correctly). Having said that, maybe it's so reliable that there are no problems with the A class, or perhaps it's not been around long enough for specific issues to become apparent. I love my merc and will likely keep it longer than most cars I've had in the past.
The 1.5 litre diesel is the only engine with a timing belt which needs to be changed every 10 years or 124,000 miles. The hardware and components can take a lot of punishment but after asking the technicians what tends to go wrong on this generation A-Class the general consensus was "not a lot." If anything, the things to look out for are the USB ports which can loosen after a while if in constant use for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Genuinely, it's a rather reliable machine.
I just bought one like this registered end of April 2018 which is days before production ended and the new model went into productiopn. Just wondering is the final W176 production run got any improvement or better refinement?
Can you do a review of the new generation merc A series ? I am worrying the duel screen over the dash will have sun glare problem. And looks to digital IMO
I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of the new generation models and glare isn't something I've found to be an issue. The displays don't wash out on bright days either - if anything, some of the trim seems to be more reflective than the displays. We've done a few videos on the new A-Class and the compact family, have a watch here: ua-cam.com/video/QaDtdYwolE4/v-deo.html
What’s better the A200 18 diesel or the 15 sport model diesel ? If someone could help with a little advice I would appreciate it,im not sure which engine is better, I’ve heard the 15 is a Renault engine but I’m not sure about the 18 diesel,
@Kenny 1.8 and 2.2 diesel are a mercedes Om651 engine while the 1.5cdi is basically a shared engine between renault and mercedes. If you ask me i would go for a 2.2 automatic since that is a perfect combo for consumption and perferomance, after that id go for A250 with 2.0 gasoline engine
@ thanks for the reply mate, I’m going up to look at a 1.8 diesel sport tomorrow and if it suits I’m going to buy, I had a bmw sport with the twin turbo 2L engine but I crashed it so this time I’ve decided to try a A 200 model, if it’s not good I will buy another bmw next year
Not any more - the last road-going naturally aspirated models would have been the SLS AMG and the SLK 350/55 AMG of the R172 generation which bowed out in 2016. Technically, you can still get a naturally aspirated model if you get the AMG GT3 racing car, which still uses the 6.2 litre V8 from the SLS, but that uses a 6-speed sequential gearbox rather than a torque converter...oh how I'd love to see one of them being made road legal.
Thank you! It was available as an option called the Exclusive Package which added a full leather interior. It was relatively common on the AMG A 45s but I've never seen it on an AMG Line model! It could be an option that is well worth hunting for.
@@joynul thanks for the reply. The merc has actually off from my shortlist. Just realised it doesn’t have stick shifter in the middle. Because we have another Japanese car, this willbe very inconvenient to us.
This was never going to be an unbiased review from a Mercedes dealer. Just listen to guy try to be a Matt Watson. He pretends to convey faults in a covert manner but always defaults to a final positive comment. If the car was woefully poor, this guy would still convey its brilliant.
I beg to differ the 1.5 diesel is a Renault, Nissan engine and the timing belt is 60, 000 or 5 years be warned, nothing has been changed to make it 10 years for sure again be warned
Some are disguised overpriced Renaults. And all of them are so badly put together it's insane mercedes has the audacity to charge that much. Overall, shoddy products where the owner most of the time ends up being somewhat of a beta tester. Unless you're that type of person than only cares about looks, how others perceive you and everything else is secondary to the symbol, stay away from these. The newer model is even worse. Total cashgrab.
@@juangiraldo5607 A large % of the "critics" come either from debt ridden try-hards or uneducated lower classes (nothing against), who excessively overvalue a symbol without any objective capability to evaluate the car, it's materials or it's inherent value. In particular, regarding it's issue of lack of quality. A simple example is precisely the models with Renault mechanicals. A Mégane was seen as a poor product. The exact same car, cross dressing as a mercedes was the holy grail. Ridiculous. As the majority of the "muh mercedes crowd".
I find the build quality in my 2014 very good compared to the equivalent Audi in this category admittedly mine is an AMG sport so spec isn’t bad and mine has an OM651 Mercedes engine not the smaller Renault engine
@@ThePoisonDwarf1 And that's how you let us know you have no decent knowledge whatsoever about cars. You're honestly talking about a cashgrab rebadged Golf as if it was a distinct product. It's like you're the spokesman for the typical contractor and his mercedes crew.

There’s nothing wrong with it build quality is as you would expect for the bracket it lives in materials are as you would expect plastic. Best looking a class ever

Is this correct? I've heard it can be as early as 60,000

Does the 2017 160 SE A class have apple CarPlay
Awesome
Is the driving better than the Mk4?

What height are you ?
Thank you! I'm 6'2" without my hair.
Is this the 1.5 diesel engine made by Renault?
so 2014 -2018 are the same models ?

I hâte petrol engines, i only every buy diesels, petrol engines are shit
What’s the name of the wheels? Where can get them?
Got myself a 2017 one
How we going to know that my car support CarPlay or not?
Do MB sell a petrol automatic (torque converter) WITHOUT A turbo ?

How often do the auto box need an oil change, I.E the 1.5d 7g
Oil change 60k on the 7 speed DCT
how tall are you?
Hi Guys,
What would you rate this car out of 10 in terms of 'driving & handling'?
Can I get apple car play retrofitted on a 2013 model?

I've just got a 2016 A180d AMG line for my son, and it came with full leather. In fact that was one of the main things that made him want this so bad.

Useless review, nothing about what to watch for wear and tear, weak points, rust issues, brakes, shocks, engine etc.
Still one of the best looking cars except the ugliest headlights in the earth.
