Nothing in Tamers is funnier than a fucking demon lord eating shit and falling off his bike because he wasn't watching the road. Absolute rookie mistake. Even fully evolved, Impmon is still Impmon.
The best part of this movie was Rika singing. Promise me you'll stay for the sunset .....
Love that song so much. Melissa Fahn did a great job.
I love this movie so much, epecially its set after the finale of Tamers, proves all of their partners are back after gateway re-opens. Only wish it can be longer, because it has the story with tension, emotional depth, and developments on Rika/Ruki, who has arguably shown the greatest change in personality in the series. We can understand why she was merciless in the beginning, based on the trauma after her father left. Love her song too, highly recommend the japanese version "Yuuhi no Yakusoku" ("Promise of the Setting Sun"), it was so beautiful. Great find over here(4:37), indeed that GG epiosde has some homage and connection with this movie, including reboot 2020 ep. 45, when they racing against with Machmon.
But the funniest scene was definitely when Henry/Jianliang taking Lopmon instead of Terriermon by mistake.
Henry: "I uh...kind of took the wrong one..."
Terriermon: "Man! How could he think I was Lopmon?! When I get my hands on him..."
Susie: "Terriermon, momentai."
One neat detail is Rika’s shirt…
But I really like the Irony of every partnership (the one least clear is Guardromon)
Kind Takato wields the Doom Dragon’s power; Pacifist Henry gets ALL THE GUNS; Rika, who wanted the Strongest Partner and whose first instinct is to push others away, biomerges into a Digimon who lacks the raw firepower of the other Megas - instead shining brightest in a support role.
Even Impmon has it, as he has two partners who need to share, when his Mega form is the Demon Lord of Gluttony!
I don't think I have anything to say about this movie that other people haven't already said so I'll just share my favourite scene in this movie: Suzie hugging Beelzemon's legs. It's a short, sweet moment between two characters that don't interact with each other much.
Justimon showing up at of nowhere just saying "Yo everyone." Really felt so KAMEN RIDERish it reminded that's why he the GOAT of Digimon. Or as the South American fans call him "El Gran Justimon". God damn Tamers making Justimon was the greatest thing ever
The Beelzemon fail is made even funnier when you remember that he, a Mega Level, got owned by an Ultimate Level who hadn't even Digivolved to his own Mega Level yet.
A bit of a tangent but ive always loved tamers depiction of the digital world the best. It always felt like a alpha or beta version of the digital world, more desolate, lacking features other digiworlds have like reincarnation via digiegg, digivolution being difficult with hoops to jump through for it to happen like the light of digivolution/culumon, having money to afford tcg lol, help from sovereigns etc. Not to mention the more savage, dog eat dog life digimon live in tamers digital world and how their personalities are more bestial as a result. Taichi raised a scaly golden retriever pup but takato was a pitmom with an unruly attack lizard that barely listened.
The worlds terrain is less coherent too. Dgital worlds in most other seasons have terrian like earth. If youre in a forest and heading to the desert you need to cross a grassland first just like earth. In tamers you can have a desert and lush jungle bumping biomes together like minecraft and laser beams from the sky that can open console and /tp you anywhere at random. The whole place seems far more digital than other digital worlds and honestly feels stitched together with todd howard spaghetti code i love it.
Would be great to get movies like tri or a sequel season that shows that world progressing and becoming more stable. Maybe gaining reincarnation function like other digital worlds and jeri gets to see leomon again as a result.
I always like the troupeyness of Rikka in the movie because it showed Rikka was off her game a bit and knew she could depend on the friends she has now when she isn't at 100%. She's allowed to have moments of weakness because she has people there to help her. Even the final scene, Renamon knows Rikka just needed some time alone.
I enjoyed the Rika/Takato moments plus the humor, great movie I put it right with the original in terms of quality.
You know, I always wondered why Parasimon was on the Renamon DiM for the VB, and it's nice to finally have an answer.
The Locomon Digivolution still replays in my mind, the moving machine parts gave me Transformers vibes.
Also, it has my favourite exchange ever, due to Mona Marshall's delivery.
Kenta: Um... guys? Does that look normal?
Terriermon: I'm not sure... *Do huge eyeballs falling from the sky look normal to you?!*
Ms. Marshall must have had some much fun as Terriermon.
@@milesbradshaw6643 I'm so glad she's coming back to play Terriermon in the movie 3 redub.
@@PC2000 Me too.
I had forgotten Jeri helped with the planning for Rika’s birthday at the start and that makes me wish Jeri had been more involved in the movie as a follow up to her story, like having her be on the train too and she saves Rika when she calls out for help.
Edit: Also Jeri was, I think, the only other character to have a strained relationship with her parents since her mom died and her dad remarried but she didn’t fully except her stepmom so both girls had a way to understand each other and bond if given the chance.
When I was younger and watched the anime I kept wondering if Calumon was going to become Jeri’s new partner and evolve to Mega or Ultimate to save both of them from the D-Reaper prison. So I could see that happening here too maybe as how they save Rika.
This was my favorite Digimon movie honestly! I loved how soft and introspective it was, how it focused on Ruki (probably my favorite human character), and I especially loved "Yuuhi no Yakusoku" - might be my favorite Digimon song of all time (maybe). I also always complain about the English dub not using the Japanese music but I think "Promise of the Setting Sun" was also actually really well done - but still recommend the original Japanese version to those who haven't heard it yet!
While Our Wargame and Diablomons Revenge are classics and amazing, Runaway Digimon Express is my FAVORITE movie. Its a simple self-contained story with an antagonist that everyone can participate in fighting since Parasimon arent that strong, despite being Mega Level.
Its a very human story with some of Tamers classic Eldritch Nightmare Fuel, and while Crimson Mode ends things fairly quickly, I cannot deny it was a gloriously animated scene.
The eng dub has some pretty good one liners,
"I wanna run and im gonna keep on runnin"
"That guy's more nutty then a Christmas fruit cake"
"Uh guys is that normal?"
"Oh i dont know, DO GIANT EYEBALLS FALLING FROM THE SKY SEEM NORMAL TO YOU?"
and of course my favorite,
"Hey Rika you doing ok?"
"I want to sing"
"You want to whaaa?"
Guess what TheDigiKnow? The movie 🍿 Runaway Locomon did take place after the final episode of Digimon Tamers
Rika singing was my favorite part she sounded like an angel
I love the character development the characters have gone through. Rika, wearing her whole heart shirt over her broken heart shirt is a testament to her willingness to spend time with her mom, even if it's something awkward. Plus, after all the adventures she's had with Takato, her trusting him, especially after the fact that it was revealed that during her flashback with her father, she was really singing in the real world. She understood how vulnerable she was, sharing that, even if it was due to Parasimon's control.
I feel like Rita and Takato have a lot better chemistry than Rika and Ryo, so her being flustered is less her crushing on him and more annoyed that he's still flirting in the midst of battle. I know Jeri had a crush on Takato, but I feel like with Megidramon's appearance, she can't bring herself to like Takato like that again. Takato and Rita on the other hand have had several moments, and Rika not only trusting Takato fully, but also after knowing he witnessed her singing, showcased her accepting feelings for Takato, even if she's not ready to act on them.
Even though she really didn't have any love for a party, she still blew out the candles, acknowledging the celebration anyway.
I really would have loved for Takato to talk things out with Rita, even if it's just a silent conversation as the movie ends, because it would have shown that Rika was showing readiness to sharing with someone who already got to see her in vulnerable moments before. This would cement her full trust in Takato after such a traumatic experience, giving Rika that chance to start to heal from her isolation. Again, it would be a silent conversation, but the potential was there. (Not sure if you've figured it out yet, but I ship Rika/Takato instead of Rika/Ryo.)
If only they showed Jeri with a DigiEgg to show she'll have a second chance of being a Tamer again soon.
Also, it was kinda strange that Impmon was at the party, yet no Ai or Mako.
That would've been a great ending for Jeri. I think Tamers is only digimon series that never had Digi-Eggs though, right?
my personal headcannon is that every defeated digimon turns into a digi egg but those that are loaded loose their memory when they reincarnate and we know unloading is a completely foreign concept for the digimon that never went to the human world so they would probably assume those eggs didnt had connection to an already existing digimon. Also those digimon can never regain their memory even if you get their stolen data back and load that into them. They always be different from their original incarnation
@@kindredmisfit8690 they shown guilmon in his digi egg
Did they at the beginning? I need to re-watch it
I think it's one of the few few series that don't have a primary village or village of beginning like Adventures and Frontier did :(
This Digital World was artificially made by humans too, so it makes me sad that they didn't have a place where Digimon get reborn
@@kindredmisfit8690 when guilmon is created he is shown in a digi egg and when azurelongmon explains the d-reaper we saw the digi gnomes with a bunch of digi eggs
I could have really gone with at least two more of these Tamers epilogue movies, one focusing on Henry and another on Takato.
I think it's great we get to see the Tamers and their partners reunited again and that this movie gives us a deeper look into Rika as a character.
I really hope we get a full on reboot tv series of Tamers some day or an adult like epilogue movie. Anything.
The visual language in this movie is way too good. And the character exploration was really heart touching, I remember thinking back then that maybe Takato and Ruki would get a shot once that they are more mature? based on when Takato wants to reach her but Renamon stops him like "not now, not now"and then later Ruki rejoins the party. I mean literally you have a knight in shinning armor saving "THE"lady in distress. Ruki singing was the crown jewel of the movie. Over all the film just makes you feel good, optimistic, thrilled and ends it with a bittersweet but optimistic touch. truly a golden brooch to end the show and the era of the early 2000's.
I thought that Rika getting captured was done to show just how thoroughly thrown off she was by parasimon's visions. It drove home just how heavy that was for Rika to me
As much as this film is a nice epilogue movie, I personally prefer a sequel series to Tamers. And here are my reasons: 1. To know who Alice McCoy is and what happen to her. 2. Have a new Digi-Modify card that fuses two or more Digimon similar to Xros Wars. 3. Have the Digivices upgraded to hold Digimon in them. and 4. Have a Jogres/Fusion Evolution of Dukemon/Gallentmon and Sakuyamon.
i would love to get grown up setting new tamer movie.
it was really kind of a rush movie, but still i like that they all got reunited in the time between the end of the show and this movie.
My favorite movie outside the adventure focused movies. I loved the Rika focus and song with dad. It’s also nice seeing it actually tie into series unlike other movies being almost filler like or one off not fitting into canon of series.
I remember watching this as a lil’kid on UA-cam and feel in love with it and decided 2 watch takers and man i don’t regret nothing
The lack of beelzemon/impmon in this movie, hurts...xD, but at last he is like less than a minute in this one...For me he was always the real secret MC of tamers, so, I really didn' enjoy the films.
I've only seen this movie once. They aired all the Digimon movies on that Jetix time slot Disney was doing back in the day. This movie always felt odd to me as I knew it took place after the season, but it was weird that the kids got their Digimon back so quick. It was one of the things that bothered me about this movie. Overall, I thought the movie was alright but easily forgettable. It has some good moments, but I could go either way on this one.
This was the first things related to Tamers I have ever seen. It was so crazy!
Lmaoo nah not another sad swing scene. But I definitely remember this movie on Disney xd
Thing with Gallantmon not getting his own voice that sounds cool and knightly is even more disappointing to me because the dub could have pulled it off if they wanted to. Guilmon was voiced by Steve Blum in the dub whose natural voice is already really cool and would make for a great Knight voice that sounds different to Guilmon’s like Masako did in the original Japanese.
Yes 🙌 I seen Runaway Locomon
Just because I'm El Loco doesn't mean I can't be a train!
-Dan Avidan
I didn't know this movie existed until much later in my life, but I ended up really liking this film a lot more than I thought I would.
I think that for people who love rika & rukato . They will love this movie
I vaguely remember reading a translation of the CD drama "Message in the Packet" where Rika mentions her 'late father' which might be a translation error but that's something.
Anyway, I loved this movie beyond words, Tamers was my favourite and the season that got me into Digimon. Seeing all the tamers reunited with their partners makes me want this to be canon beyond anything else.
Despite some of the odd things in the later audio dramas (a monster literally called "cancel culture" with a "political correctness" attack), I love that Rika goes into freestyle motor-cross.
Where can I watch these movies
It’s far from flawless, but still a solid story overall
“…plan goes out the rails…”, I see what you did there 🤣
Like always, very good video! This is another piece of media that I didn’t know about; adding it to my queue.
Can’t wait for your next video 🤙
Could we get a Digimon Tamers Sequel or a Tamers/ Frontier crossover?
I meant to be my childhood anime when I was a kid in the Y2K but sure this is about Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch before 3 crossover in the future
I view this as Tamers true epilogue and not...um. the radio drama from Digifest.
Hm, an Epilogue Movie, huh?
Yeah, i guess that is what it is, not that I didn’t think of that, but i guess I didn’t think of it like that, i just thought of it as a Movie that took place after the Series Finale.
Regardless, this was a very good Review, that made me view the Movie in a Different Light, I appreciate that.
Hm, i wonder if Tamers will ever get a Sequel akin to Tri? Or maybe a Reboot like Adventure 2020?
What do you think? Would like to see a Tri Sequel and/or an Adventure 2020 Reboot for Tamers? If so, which would you prefer, a Sequel or a Reboot?
It's not rare. I hate HK removing the ED song and inserting a male rock song in.
Rukato forever.
Tamers deserve a sequel.
You know I think this movies had a scene that I think that the dub made better than the original version was when Justimon arrived and ryo had that music and those the dialogues in the original one I find it kinda boring or disappointing
Again i did not know of this and now am on the hunt. Thank you again, the more you digiknow!
I mean this could have worked a followed up even thought the cd drama dosent allow them but then they would have to explain why ryo is again In the digital world I specially liked the credits showing the life of the tamers with the digimons after the shows event
Well in that same CD drama they were also building another ark to bring them back anyway the only thing that was closed in the CD drama was a gate they discovered they left another option when the monster makers were building another ark
screw the obscure cd dramas. This ending is fine.
I love this film.
Beelzemon got his ass kicked by the Mugen train
"Digimon Tamers: The Runaway Digimon Express" is the last and best movie from the Digimon Tamers era.
Hopefully after the "Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning" movie, there will be another sequel movie made for the Digimon Tamers timeline.
I doubt it'll ever happen but it'd be really intriguing to see "Digimon Tamers 2018: Days -Information and the Unordinary-" and "Digimon Tamers 2021" get made into an animated movie, really wanna see the Digimon Tamers gang beat up 'Malice Bot', the digital lifeform formed from mankind's malicious intent, and 'Political Correctness', the entity formed from the West's extreme political correctness. Perhaps this 'Political Correctness' could even turn into 'Woke' next, one of the entity's alternate form.
"30 minute runtime" can we even call ot a movie?
I know what you mean. It had a theatrical run in Japan though so I’d consider it a film
That was an hour with commercials on TV back then.
Movie 6 is a very good movie (OVA) but I dislike the discourse surrounding it. Old man Konaka being a dream killer and shippers being shippers are my problems.
Hello
The movie was fine, but I would have liked it if Crimsonmode had more of a Fight, or at least more Streamtime by not one shoting the Enemy Digimon Army.
Well be a crossover if they created another digimon Tamers with dragon Ball heroes character
Runaway Locoman is one of those oddity, in that it clearly doesn't have a proper point of reference in the series, as when Dukemon Crimson Mode came into existence, it was when the program that made the Human World uninhabitable to Digimon was installed. If this movie is an epilogue then it should have also included some reason to why the Digimon where able to be in the Human World without suffering digital regression like they were during the end of the final episode of the series, and why Ryu was back in the Digital World up to that point of the movie?
I’ve watched it and enjoyed even though I wasn’t a huge fan of Tamers.
I think I remember seeing this title somewhere, although I don't remember ever watching it or if it was ever dubbed, which if it was not that would explain why I never watched it.
It aired 2 or 3 times on Toon Disney/Jetix in the mid-2000s and never again. I'm sure the dub is readily available online if you know where to look.
🍿🎥
I've always enjoyed this movie a lot. It's short, but sweet and a good epilogue for Tamers. It's way better than any of the CD dramas which feel grossly out of character for everyone involved. You will never convince me the entire Tamers cast would not go after their partners and just send a stupid message instead.
Plus the little extra character bits we get of Rika are nice, not re-treading anything and the ending is a bit haunting in a good way.
Well even in the cd drama they were building another ark to bring them back anyway so even in the cd drama it wasn't a permanent thing plus this movie could of literally been set after they completed that ark and brought them back
uhh where did Beelzemon gets the motorcycle from? that Motorcycle is been gone for so longer after leaving the digital world. its so strange, idk if Beelzemon stole a motorcycle or his tamers/partners have motorcycle, hmmm..
He also has red eyes again. I think the film had several continuity errors.
The mega level voices is one of the few missteps of the dub sadly. They mistakenly thought it was the same as the DNA digivolutions last season.
When and where did this air dubbed?! Ive been a fan sinve 99 and was heavily following digimon during tamers amd knew of this movie but never about a dub
It aired on Jetix, one time as random Digimon thing westerners never got to see till now, purely to hype Savers/Data Squad's incoming dub.
I couldve sworn the movie got cut off when i tried to watch. Feels like the ending was abrupt to me
Most Digimon films back in the day had really abrupt endings.
@@PC2000 ah
Was this released on dvd? Where can you watch this online?
No DVD release so far, but Runaway Locomon is on every pirate site known to man. Hell, there's some awkwardly chopped up UA-cam videos of said movie from long dead accounts
Where can I watch all the digimon movie god I want to rewatch them all
Runaway Locomon is here on UA-cam. Other Digimon movies probably are too.
Leomon is still dead, no one even acknowledges the fact, hell they’re now pals with his killer … -100/10 Jeri and Leomon both deserved better 😒😒😒
Nah, Leomon deserved to die, it's his destiny. 😤
I'm a dub guy & can't tell if it's the nostalgia or what I believe wasn't a bad way to further immerse an 11 year old version of myself in the show, but I loved the biomerged megas being a mix of both voices, just like the original DNA digivolutions: ie WarGreymon & MetalGarurumon's voices as Omnimon in most Adventure canon stuff. A one voice Gallantmon & Omnimon in Savers/Data Squad threw me off.
The movie is not cannon to the anime but is a good movie
I keep wondering, if Ken was able to go back to the digital world for Wormmon after he died in S2, how come Jeri can't go back for Leomon?
different series, different writers with different creative visions and storytelling goals
I remember seeing this on UA-cam, years back. I do wish they could have brought back Leomon, separate his DNA from Impmon or something. I mean Tamers did have a bull shit ending. But we all can't get what we want.
