LITERATURE - Charles Darwin

  • Darwin liked to say he had thought of calling his book “the Ascent of Man” - but that that would suggest some idea of progress. Rather what he wanted to do was show that despite the obvious technical advances of past centuries modern people were still at the same moral level, or perhaps slightly worse, than their remote ancestors.

"It is completely understandable that we are often maddened by what might be called ‘normal’ humanity. The way in which emotion so regularly triumphs over careful reasoning; the power of group loyalty, even when the group doesn’t seem to deserve much devotion; the vast mechanisms of status-seeking that drive so much excess consumption; widespread selfishness and indifference to the greater needs of more distant others. And we can find ourselves - in the privacy of our heads, or in the occasional late-night outburst - railing against the fools and idiots who (so unfortunately) seem to occupy so many of the prominent places of power, wealth and influence..."

@@thoreau8843 absolutely. He does appear to be quite talented in public speaking though. And experience etc etc obviously plays into it. But even watching his public speeches, some are like 2 hours long or something, shows how he is naturally very captivating and eloquent, as there are no sound engineers, editors etc in those situations. I highly recommend watching those talks. I have adhd and it’s rare that I can pay attention for that long but he had no trouble keeping my focus.

And while animals can be excused for lacking the agency to choose good or evil in following their base nature, the fact that we could but still follow our base natures anyways do make it much worse because we could had chose otherwise with our free will and self-awareness.

I disagree with the end. I don't believe we should be compassionate to our primal nature. After years of introspection, I slowly reduced the harmful influences of emotions present within me, replacing it for logical reasoning. I believe that to be, literally, evolution.
I'm always working to replace the primal human characteristics that no longer serve their purpose, for better alternatives that match the current reality in which we, humans, live in.
If we are to be compassionate about our primal nature, we'd be trading evolution for contempt.

Interesting take. For me, I've found compassion to be what helps me live my life. It dissuades me from a negative self-image and helps me empathize with others. It's important to base decisions on reasoning (as much you think you can), but that's not enough for a full life - for me. Satisfying our primal nature sometimes, indulging in "lesser desires" from time-to-time, gives me gratification. And helps me sustain a healthier relationship with myself.

    Good evening..
The problem today we have with the social media like UA-cam, Facebook, etc .. everyone can public in any sector what he/she like without any 'entity' to check the content of the material before milion of people on Internet can watched.
The book of Charles Darwin "The Discent of Man" was written in 1871 while the scientist at thier time they don't have any knowledge on the structure of the complex of the cell as we know today, they don't know anything about the DNA (the motor) of plants, animals, humans and viruses infact even in his book "The Origin of Species " 1859 and in the "The Descent of man" 1871 he only spoke about "natural selection " but only later when the scientific research discovered the DNA, they added "natural selection and mutation " .
Darwin with all respect as researcher in his book "Descent of man " he made comparison "only from external view" the similarity between human and animals, like Ape, dog and bonbons, because plants, animals and human they have same genetic code of the DNA (A C G T) it is normal we have some similarity because the Creator Unique but every creation is diffrent.
Like Sony company they have many electronics products but the company Unique one .
If Charles Darwin come back today in life in read :
    - 1) - " DNA like a software program but more more advanced than any our software program " Bill Gates
    And:
    - 2) - the human brain is the complex organ in the universe,
    And :
    - 3) - The human planning to go to Mars while Chimpanzee, Gorilla and Bonbons (our cusions as he wrote) still jumping on the tree in the forest, am sure he will burn his books immediately.
    And also very important:
The Books of Darwin was good strument for dangerous ideology and racist like the Nazis, fascists and Comunist (Stalinism) .
Darwin was sexim and Mrs Antoinette Blackwell (1815 - 1921) from New York critiques Darwin on his last book for sexim, Darwin always repeated the superiority of man on the woman intelectual , and put the women between boy and man .
So I asking of UN organisations to looking books like Darwin's books and others if they contain racism and hate.
No more hate and racism .
All we share 99.99% of the DNA
    Because all from one root
Adm and Eve peace upon them
    And our Unique Lord Creator
    Allah the most Merciful 💕

Rather than investing on ourselves we invest on commodities? Seems like real descend of man.

I have mixed feelings about the theory of evolution. Sometimes I feel that it is so counter intuitive that it required a true genious to figure it out. And then, I feel it is so intuitive that I am surprised why people did not figure it out earlier. We consciously use selective breading for thousands of years anyway.

@anil karameti Moses is a fictional character. He belongs in the same category as Batmal. Jesus probably never existed. And if he did, there was nothing metaphysical avout him. Muhammad was a war lord that married a child and was "hearing voices". If he lived today, we would probably offer him some medical help.
That being said, evolution is an inescapable fact of population mechanics. I kindly suggest you to try to understand it.

@anil karameti I will answer your question. Assuming that Jesus existed that is, which is very questionable. They did not lie. When it came to the history of man, they simply did not know what they were talking about. Still, I cannot blame Jesus and Muhammad for talking scientific nonsense, they were just people of their time, having the limited knowledge of their time. Evolution is the basis of all modern biology. Hardly any serious scientist denies it and it is being taught in almost every university.

What are you even talking about? A person who does not know what he is talking about is ignorant, not a liar. There is a difference between those two concepts. Open a Lexicon and find the difference. And when it comes to evolution, it is not true because it is taught in universities. It is taught in universities because it is true. It is the one and only theory that explains biodiversity. It is proven right time and time again and there is not a single observation that disproves it. If only creationists understood it before they spite out their nonsense, we would live in a better world.

@anil karameti the people you call prophets are either fictional characters or fallible men, products of their time having the limited knowledge of their time. Their opinions are completely useless in scientific conversation. So are the books you mention.

@anil karameti Jesus, probably fictional character. Something like Spiderman. Muhammad, fallible man, and a very bad person IMO. Theory of evolution, inescapable scientific fact. Sorry if reality does not conform to your favorite folklore. Have a nice evening.
