- Oh boy, the new foldable Motorola Razr is in the building! We've folded it! We retro'd it! It's kind of fun!
In this Razr unboxing, we walk through the icon that has been reborn once again. You'll see a tour of the fancy packaging, all of the accessories that come in the box (like USB-C buds), and how Motorola was able to bend a phone display.
At $1500, this phone is absurdly priced for what you get, but hey, that's not what you came here for is it? You just want to get those old feelings back. Here you go.

That retro mode hit me in the feels.
Not gonna lie, I knew the phone was coming but had no clue that "old school mode' was a thing. I fast forwarded a little in the video and when i saw the old school mode on i literally though you were holding an original Razr phone and my jaw dropped when I rewound and saw it.
That's a mighty fine unboxing presentation by Moto.
Moto really missed the mark on price. The mid-range specs were an opportunity for them to price it more aggressively than other foldables. They chose to go the other way. $1500 for that processor and camera is no bueno.
This is totally what I want foldable phones to be like. I don't want to carry around a long phone that turns into a tablet, I have a laptop for that. Having a phone that is extremely pocketable is awesome and with the ever increasing phone sizes, this could be exactly what I need!

Great first impressions video, cool looking phone. I didn't have an OG Razr myself either, but my friends did and it always looked so cool. I may go to a Verizon store just to play with it for a bit
Also, I bet this is gonna drop in price. After Moto realizes the demand for it isn't as high as they thought, they'll come out with some deals & price drops. I bet in 1 year you'll be able to get this refurbished or used for under $600 on eBay
Edit: just found a Galaxy Fold for only $800 on eBay. The Fold isn't even 6 months old and it's already 1/2 price lol
Yeah the Moto Razr will be a cool novelty for some, and maybe a good phone for those who are patient and buy it at a reasonable price later
deliveries are backed up to march 3rd now so selling well enough.
Just for the retro mode I'd like to have it, it looks incredibly cool, I had a razor Bak in the day, and I fricken loved that phone!! 1500 is way steep though! Regardless it is cool lookin

1 crappy back camera, 720p 6,2" screen, SD710, plastic back, Android 9, bloatware, 2500 mAh, US$1500?? (US$2100 here in Brasil). Wtf Motorola, i get the foldable screen and all, but... wtf Motorola??

@@LinuxAndroid86 I personally think for the money, their Moto E, and G series phones are really good. The Razr was Just Motorola doing something to show, and get attention, just because they can, and in this case not because they should. Affordable ($300 USD or less)folding screen phones for the greater masses unless we are talking someone doing a dual screen phone again, then I think are still 5 - 10 years out.
@@CommodoreFan64 i had moto z play and was great for 400 bucks. But after that Moto Z3 sucked with old processor and average camera and slow updates. Moto E never gets software updates. And the G series is no longer good. This new Razer phone is overpriced with average specs
@@LinuxAndroid86 I gave my Mother an E5 Cruise for Cricket Wireless, and it just recently as of last month got an OTA update, and I personally like my G7 which also just received an update a couple of weeks ago, and while those where only security updates, it's better than a lot of LG phones I've seen around the same price range that never even got that!
@@CommodoreFan64 only security updates. My mom has moto E4 shes 68 so thats enough for her. I gave my gf my Moto Z3. I m using Huawei mate 20X and Galaxy Note 10 plus
how do you turn off the feature so the external is always off unless I tap the screen? I don’t like it always on when I move the table or when I just carry it.
When it is open it doesn’t look totally flat and opened

Looks ok , i think i would be leaning towards the galaxy Z and galaxy fold , both also no doubt fairly pricey , but a bit better specced i think , and the fold is now on revision two with most of the bugs worked out .
Sammy usually gives the higher end phones a 2 year warranty , any idea what the warranty is on the razer ?
I can honestly say I've never been this excited for any device since I was a kid 🤣🤣🤣 that feel alone worth $1500
Since I'm a little OCD and clean my screen because I hate fingerprints, how do you clean the RAZR's screen without scratching it? Thanks!
With a cleaning cloth and cleaner. Or an alcohol wipe. Just like glasses or a monitor
I'll just say that I did have one of the razrs back in the day, and boy...that nostalgia factor is strong, even got me thinking about switching carriers. But that price tag and specs are gonna make me wait until Samsung's foldable, or at least the 2nd version of the razr.
This shit is fire. I know the Z Flip has "better specs" but even back in the day, nobody cared about your flip if it wasn't a RAZR. I can't wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen of this product.

watching this on my moto edge + emmm i checked the body flex and you can tell it doesn't fold easily. lol

For the price of this phone Motorola obviously is trying to make every single penny the can. They always choose Verizon because their customers have excellent credit and can always afford their devices. Verizon's customers are referred to as top tier customers and that's why they get the best phones first
Very very worth it in my opinion, it's got better specs than my normal phone and it's the sequel to the phone I've always wanted

Can you flip it open like the original? or do we need 2 hands for that? Appreciate the video! not worth that price, and seems more of a hinderence than a "feature" imo. Guess it's kinda like when the first iPhone came out, status symbol?

The crease in the screen looks gross. I already have stretch marks, I don’t want my 1500 dollar phone to be as out of shape as me.

Can you answer and make a call without flipping open the phone?
You can close it if it's on speaker and keep talking or use it on Bluetooth. But you can't initiate a call with it closed

@@A_Final_Hit Having said what I did, If you are looking on the budget side of things, the E, and G series of phones are not bad, I have a Moto G7 and for $183 USD unlocked I've been fairly impressed with it.
Finger print sensor is gross and in a poor placement. Glad to see foldables finally on the street though.
I want this phone just for the retro mode. It looks great. But these greedy assholes made it so damn expensive u gotta sell a kidney to get one 🙄😒🖕🏽

it's smaller when folded, which a lot of people, including me, really like
it's basically the same argument as with the phablets. small footprint, big screen.

there is none, its a cool throwback design but its useless because the phone is super tall and narrow, the galaxy fold makes a lot more sense because it unfolds into an ipad mini sized tablet

I have 2 version of the Motorola Razr both them broke I just loved this Phone Design when they came out If I had the disposable income income to slap at this phone I would get it.

Yeah if I was Bill Gates rich I would get one just too have it, and back in the day I had a Moto Razr V3 on AT&T Go phone service with a hard shell case on it, and I loved that phone in many ways, as it always made a statement when I took a call at work, but sadly I went boating with some friend's, and family, and it fell out of my pocket as my girlfriend was calling me, as I was catching the boat to tie up to a dock, and so now it still sits all these years later at the bottom of the Savanna River 😔

$1500 for a modern cellphone that offers midrange features does not attract me at all.. I really don’t see anyone buying this when they can get the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra for $100 cheaper.

it's cool, but not worth it at $1.5K for a a mid range processor, non 1080p screen, no headphone jack, no SD card expansion, and being a Verizon contract exclusive. yeah I think I'll be sticking with my $183USD Motorola Moto G7 for a while now.
Get a one plus 7 pro for 500 bucks
@@LinuxAndroid86 Not bad, but I've been a die hard Moto E, and G series guy for a few years now, as I'm hard pressed to find much better phones at their price ranges for me, and my family's needs, and I usually wait till around the Holiday season every couple of years to upgrade, as Motorola usually has some crazy sales on them.
@@CommodoreFan64 Motorola has disappointed me. The G5 was thr last good G phone. MOTO Z Play was great but after that it went down hill. I been waitng for 2 years for a flagship Moto phone. For 300 bucks pixel 3a is great and for 500 the one plus 7 pro is the best flagship for its price

Foldable smartphones just cost a lot right now. It's a new technology. In the early 90s a laptop would set you back $3,000, and now you can get a decent spec one for like $300.
If you pay 300 dollars for a laptop expect it to slow down to a screeching halt in a year 2.

The nostalgia factor is undeniable. The durability factor is suspect, very suspect. The specs are a joke. I wouldn’t pay more than $500 for it. Wouldn’t be surprised if the price dives in a few months.

I love Moto's E, and G series phones, but I have to agree this is not worth $1.5K, and what is going to make it an even worse failure is being locked to a Verizon contract here in the US.

I know so many complaints about this phone. Just because the processor isn't the newest available. Due to its thin size they had to compromise in some areas but all in all it is a solid phone for those, like myself, who want a smaller device. The fold really appeals to me. I agree that it is still overpriced but with a payment plan im willing to give it a swing. I ordered one and it will be here in the morning. Im excited and nervous. If it isn't up to par I will return it and go for the galaxy s20

Clearly, Motorola has lost the plot. They have no original, innovative ideas to put on sale, so they went the nostalgia route.
No one but fools blinded by nostalgia wants to buy this hunk of junk. $1500 for what is essentially a mid-range device with a folding display is a joke. Honestly, this looks like some Chinese knockoff device.
If I had random $1500 to spend, I'd still go with this over an iPhone, for example.
