Eric, I wondered if your 'boat recon' after the strike included inspecting the hull structure. Pretty tough to do on this modern boats filled with liners. Thanks for posting this; it's the first time I've been shown the erratic nature of a strike.
Great question. Actually there was a whole team working on this boat. she was hauled out and surveyed directly after the strike, and had the rig inspected for damage, we have one team handling the electronics another doing AC and refrigeration I got bought in toward the end to do electrical systems. Luckily no damage to the hull, I do know of one boat that lightning left enough of an exit wound to sink the vessel.
