Toby's Commentary: "Originally I wanted the Castle Town to sound very upbeat, but something about it reminded me of like… That one Gotye song. The melody of the initial parts ended up a bit too repetitive for me. I really like how the song sounds from 0:45. The song is completely unfinished past 1:27." My Commentary: This is my favorite track revealed, it has such a cool old-school RPG vibe!
Honestly If a bit reworked I think this could work as sorta "This is it, the final push!" track in like chapter 6 or 7, where the gang needs to go offscript from the prophecy to actually prevent the roaring or whatever, all residents encouraging you as you take your walk through Castle town.
I think you are right, but knowing it's most likely going to not be in the final game, we can consider this track a "this is the final push!" sort of song, but for our wait for Ch3&4. It makes me hyped and hopeful just listening to it!
I was thinking this, that the fuller the "Castle Town" will get with residents via different chapters, the more music should be on top of each. Example. Yoshi's Island 2 overworld map music. Each world adds another instrument on top of the existent melody and making for bright and cheerful.
Hello Kris. We have audited your activities for the past 7 days. There are some anomalies. But you have served the Dark World well. We will overlook these small transgressions. You have been cleared of any suspicion. Glory to the Dark World.
It's important to remember that Toby has basically spent his whole life making music, figuring out what works and what doesn't. This is simply what happens when you practice for two decades and love it every step of the way.
This one has really grown on me. The one in the final game definitely fits the area better, but I like this song a lot more, when removed from that context
It sounds less like a castle town and more like a castle bustling with soldiers in a classic RPG, or a place where fantasy siege weapons are being constructed.
Definitely a lot more upbeat than what we ended up getting for the game, with the chiptune coming in at 0:27 feeling somewhat bombastic, definitely invoking feelings of "The Legend" from Chapter 1. Still, I prefer the Castle Town theme we got, it gives the town a very calming and chill atmosphere.
Something about this really gives me Legend of Mana vibes, despite not really sounding like any particular song from that OST. That feeling is especially present from 0:45 - 1:08 due to the instruments used, as well as the segment from about 1:49 to the end for a similar reason, but the whole song has a bit of a Shimomura-inspired feel to me. It hits even more if you slow the song down just a little bit; 0.90x or especially (imo) 0.95x speed is what really seals it for me.
Honestly I like this song more than actually castle town. I dont know what it is but it's probably one of the best tracks ive ever heard from a video game.
Castle Town at it's Zenith, the Royal Seat of the Monarchs of the Dark Worlds, and the place where the Great Fountain of Darkness resides and is protected from... or so it was a long time ago

"Embarking on a quest!" Ah tune

"Ah" clever and original
This seems like the theme for what Castle Town was like at the height of it's power.
Exactly 👍
This feels like a heroic march

@@deoxysandmew2162 this is also quite literally what happens in the main menu of undertale so its really fitting
This feels somewhat paper mario-esque
Imo specifically super paper mario.
This is best unused track for me. Kinda reminds me of papers please victory theme

I actually prefer this as a song. The finished one fits more, and so was a better choice for the game, but I'd listen to this more casually.
even the unfinished part sounds amazing?? Is this d1 glazing or is he just a god at music??

@@Nexter-Lie yeah idk why I ever doubted him
He is just a god, look up apple disaster, this is toby fox improvising live on a piano. He made 3 SONGS.
Castle town after the heroes of legend stop the roaring.
and they all clap like the end of evangelion
This is castle town after victory.
I really like how this sounds, it gives me Super Paper Mario vibes. Even if its unfinished, Toby Fox never fails when it comes to making music.

I’m getting Saturn Valley vibes
This is definitely my favorite of the unused tracks, it’s so happy

1:04
A very familiar jingle, right there. It sounds like "Your Best Friend".
🎹 🎶
I really hope Toby uses this song for when KRISTown gets larger past Ch.4 since its so fucking upbeat and fire
Much more adventurous feeling

Dunno what but this reminds me of like, Dolls in Pseudo Paradise.
It's the piano.
VERY KEWL
reposting this observation, this truly is the song Jacked Up by Weezer
Something about this just feels right
Reminds me of "Parade" from the Paprika movie.
BROO YES I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
YEAH SAME, HOLY SHIT
thank you for saying this
Yeah.
Thank you I'm gonna rewatch that film now.
i legit cant stop listening to this
This could be used for the end of the game when you recruit all available townsfolk
De lejos me parece el mejor tema de los descartados

El de Queen 👌
It sounds like Teehee Valley from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga.
Might be good for a Throne Room track.
That was my favourite track in Superstar Saga...
Yeah especially the beginning part of it.

I cannot listen to this without hearing Spongebob Patrick in the back of my mind
Sounds like a circus when its rainy and dark
OH OH OH, this one is going to replace the in-game track!

Castle town after the roaring
* 1:08 goes so hard and I will cry if it doesn't end up in an actual Deltarune song
Castle Town at it's Zenith, the Royal Seat of the Monarchs of the Dark Worlds, and the place where the Great Fountain of Darkness resides and is protected from... or so it was a long time ago
This sounds something out of Mario and Luigi Partners in Time.
“The march of the lonely”
Take my hand and we’ll march together 😄
Nobody hate on me for saying that somebody had to say it lol
Honestly, of the discarded songs it is my favorite and I prefer it to My Castle Town
My jaunty town
I think this is better than the one used ingame, it feels alot happier. Possibly a version of the song when you have noelle
And definitely if deltarune has any post final boss content where you can go back to castle town after beating the game for a boss rush
why no one talks about 0:46 to 1:04!!!!!
"The Legend" but in low Quality Jpeg
Reminds me of RPG maker games ost ngl.
Guys chapters 3 and 4 are so close
WHY DOES IT SOUND LIKE DDLC AT FIRST
Lol kinda it reminds😂
Sounds like Deltarune's equivalent to the Throne Room theme from Star Wars Episode IV - triumphant and upbeat.
Makes me think of chrono trigger
This is better
Kind of sounds like a sea shanty
I hope ralsey will just play it one day
Bro i need piano arragement where can i find😭
This sounds oddly.. medival. Honestly, it could've beeen changed into another track for a later chapter and nobody would bat an eye (or ear, i guess.)
what do you mean 1:27 is unfinished
Its only piano from there so unfinished but i think its so good still
Ddlc?
Ok, I'll admit the first few piano notes did remind me of DDLC
