A different video, talking about math and going over the reason why you can't just search for the Winning Sequence within Pi.

Could treating numbers as the button + time help? So 18 would be pressing down (1) for 8 minutes (8). It doesn't need to be 1 digit per 1 minute, but it could be like, 1 = 1 press, 2 = 30 seconds, 3 = 3 minutes, etc. Would massively reduce the overworld digits a lot; similarly, if 26 was press A (2) 10 times in a row (6 would mean that in this case) that would massively decrese the amount of digits for battle as well

That's clever, and It would be another valid way to assign the digits of Pi onto a controller.
Using the second method you mentioned, I'm sure you could find some very short sequences compared to other methods. Ultimately, though, I think its sequence would still be too hard to reasonably find. It wouldn't surprise me if that method (and a bit of effort) could find a result that gets to the rival battle, but things just get so much harder with each added input.
(Sorry for the edits. I'm bad at phone typing)

this video is a gem. an awesome insight on how big are the numbers we are working with.
even though there might be a combination of inputs that leads to beating the game and that combination is written up in the infinite digits of pi, we still _only_ know 63 trillion of digits. and that's 0% of the total, infinite amount. the combination is not there!

What's the deal with the fish cheating? I couldn't find anything on a quick google.

      Sorry this is long:
I have a Tiktok video on it, but I couldn't fit all the info in 40 seconds so I figure I'll just write up this here.
Mutekimaru is the owner of the fish who have beaten Pokémon games and discovered glitches.
All of his regular viewers (mostly Japanese people because he's Japanese) know that he sets up each stream so that the fish is able to progress the plot, (changing Pokémon in the party, starting the stream in the first rival's battle so that the fish is forced to make progress, etc.). If you watch the streams, you will figure this out. In the beginning he didn't help the fish at all, but after a dozen or so streams Mutekimaru started intervening to make better content. I don't think Mukekimaru is bad for this. The fish doesn't even have a start button, so human intervention was always the plan and Mutekimaru is not being deceptive beyond that of most clickbait on UA-cam.
PATTERRZ THOUGH has made several videos on this fish, and is the biggest English source of Mutekimaru news on UA-cam. I have never seen Patterrz even slightly allude to the fact that the Mutekimaru is basically playing most of the game for his fish.
I actually relistened to three of his videos while writing this and they are straight up intentionally deceptive. In his video about the fish beating sapphire (which is still up), there is no indication that the fish had any help contained in the 11 minute video, description or any comments. In fact, when the first commentor doubted the fact that a fish was capable of all this, Patterrz responded in a way that ended up misleading them. Of course, he did not comment again.
In his other videos about the fish he does the same thing. I understand clickbait, but his videos have been by far the most misleading coverage of the fish I have seen and he appears to have been consistent with this deception over 3 years now.
      *Edited for clarity and typos

@@slugmaguts69 Wow, thanks for the writeup! This is nuts, I've heard about this fish many times and everyone always talks about it being completely random. No one ever mentioned that it was basically theater. Definitely shady on Patterrz's part, this clearly crosses the line from clickbait to just plain lying.

I don’t understand math I think my brain is badly wired for it and it makes my head hurt and get so hot it feels like steam flies out of my ears like a cartoon
