She's the granddaughter of a renowned scientist and has a life threatening illness, there are probably times where she thought she wouldn't make it, which is very harsh for a 13 year old to think about, but when faced with a terminal illness, it's probably something she once considered.

Yeah. The think about suspended animation and the cryo-sleep in general, your perspective of time also "froze" so once you wake up, you would think that just an couple minutes or an hour passes when in reality, decades or even a century has passed.
