I think page count is a great addition for those who read chonky books that can take so much more time than small books. I love that your money jar proceeds are going towards others. I’ve already put myself on a self-imposed limit on purchasing books but I might consider doing this challenge another time. You’ve got this, I have faith in you Kim.
Thank you for your vote of confidence Kathi! I’m just hoping that some awesome book that I can’t live without doesn’t come out next year, lol! I didn’t mention it in the video but if for some reason I’m reading part of a series and don’t own the next one, I will allow myself to get the next one if my intention is to go ahead and give it a read.
I've gone for page count and it's been revolutionary! I keep track of pages read daily and it makes me aware that I am accomplishing something daily, whereas when I counted books it could take weeks before I could finally 'chalk up' another step towards my reading goals
I get overwhelmed often seeing all I already need to read but I’m always adding more. I can’t help it, there are so many good ones to explore but I definitely need to concentrate on getting some of these great ones I already own read.📚
Ooh! I love your money jar idea.. that's fantastic and good motivation too! Wishing you the best of luck with the RWYO challenge! I am having a go for the first time this year, fingers crossed it all goes well 🤞Good luck with the challenge and happy reading!! 😃📚
Thanks!🍂🎃Decorating for the Autumn season is my favorite. Definitely feel good about being able to accomplish this by doing the page count so I can not put off those bigger books.
Thank you! I think it’s good to set goals but I often think I can do more than I realistically can, lol! I think this time will be less of the feeling of being deprived of books and tracking pages toward my goal sounds fun!📚
@@thepapertraveler1122 I’ve overestimated my time and mental health when reading in the past so I usually set really low goals and adjust them every quarter. I’ve also had to teach myself that changing my goals, if I can tell I won’t reach them, isn’t a failure. It’s a way to be thoughtful of my abilities. 🥰
That is a great idea - the key is figuring out what works for you. I am still figuring out what works for me. This summer I made a spreadsheet of all the books I own (well still working on the kindle) so I can 1) be aware and intentional when considering my next read 2) not accidentally rebuy and 3) get a hit of dopamine when I check one off. I am also using Owned and Library as GoodReads shelves.
As a HUGE list maker I definitely understand about the checking off dopamine hit. I keep an app just for books(that I purchase) and it has been SO useful! I’ve heard of others using Goodreads to keep track of what they own and I tried at one time but I found I slacked on keeping it updated. I love when I see people’s spreadsheets they’ve created. What a great idea! I don’t even bother with Kindle, lol, I went a little crazy with cheap books that I probably will never read in the past. Good luck with your own personal checklist!📚
@@thepapertraveler1122 What app do you use? Is it the I Collect Books app? Someone told me about that one the other day. I am happy with my spreadsheet - I have page count, where I got it, genre and format (audible books are on the list too) and any other notes about it. Like the library book that the cats spilled tea on and ruined so now I own it haha.
I think counting by pages will make the challenge much easier. Having to read long books and feeling that it never ends to start another book makes it hard to choose and enjoy big books when it's about counting by books. Counting by pages... I haven't thought about that hehe. I have read more than 100 books since last November. But my goal was 200 in 2 years. It's possible but I'm not forcing myself anymore. I hope you can reach the highest tier.
Hopefully the enthusiasm I’m feeling right now will continue and by lessening the amount I need to read and giving myself a little more freedom in this challenge definitely makes it more doable. Good luck in your continued goals also!
I have been reading my own Books. I do not do the Page Count or anything like that. All I do is pick one of my own Books and I start reading it. I take my time in reading my Books. I don’t sit for hours on end and just read. I will read anywhere between 5 and 10 pages per day and that is enough for me in one day. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗📚📖🔰☕️❤️
Reading slow is definitely the best way in my opinion to enjoy what you’re reading more and remember the content better. Years ago I didn’t keep track of my reading stats but now I find it enjoyable to see my progress looking back. Happy reading to you too Linda!📚❤️
I’m so glad you’re joining in. I think the page count is going to work wonderfully for you especially since it will fit into something you’re already doing. Good luck!
NOTE: The challenge starts November 5th, not 4th, but I’m starting my challenge on November 1st.
It starts on the first Monday in November, whatever date that is. 😂
Oh ok. I saw 2 different dates so wasn’t absolutely positive.

I definitely feel it’s the way to go if you have any books of sizable length. Good luck with your goal!
The addition of the page count is needed for us fantasy readers. It’s a great challenge. 😊
Oh definitely! Next year I’m going to try to work my way up to starting on the Stormlight Archives and those are 1,000 page books-whew!📚📚😬
❤📚📚❤️
I'm glad you kept your money jar. I love books, my home library, public library, thrifting books ...so many books, so little time! 😅

@@thepapertraveler1122 Me too. This year has been good. 2025, I'm going to concentrate on all my series books!
I’m glad you’re joining in the challenge.
Thanks to you I indeed am going to give it another go! Good luck with your challenge.

I just stumbled across your video. I like the idea of doing page count so you can feel good about reading longer books. I also love your fall tree 😍

Love this!! There are so many creative ways to read down our owned books and I love that!! 💕
Good luck with your reading!! 🌻

You’re not a slow reader. You’re a reader speed doesn’t matter! Enjoy the challenge
Thanks! That’s right, reading is reading no matter the pace.
