I mean, it's not a bad song but it's the kind of song that you have to listen to for a couple of times to enjoy and the casualt listeners and gp surely wouldn't take time to keep listening to it til they get used to it and enjoy it. Nerdy was better than memem but it still doesn't top their precious releases and the promotion for them svxks.

The general public are way less into idols now then they were years ago and now only if you are from a top agency with a ton of connections is it easy to get a genersl public hit song as an idol. Otherwise, you have to be very untraditional and not too idol like, for example, like IU and Mamamoo. They are able to walk the line between non idol and idol enough to get top hits popular with the general public. Purple Kiss's problem is that they went between too many styles. Ponzona, Zombie, and Mememe are just too different which is not helpful when establishing a fanbase. Plus, besides Ponzona and Nerdy, the songs were not exactly unique enough to stand out from other releases. Don't get me wrong, I love Zombie, but I could see a lot of other groups releasing it. Purple Kiss needs to stick with what makes them unique. Looking at all the recently succesgull girl groups like Ive, New Jeans, Aespa, Stayc, and Billlie you can see that their identity is really clear. They have a certain style to them and something about them that is unique. That combined with good music and performances is really important.

You listed successful groups that all have privilege now (except 1), be it big 3, IZ*ONE (Produce curse broken for this group with IVE, Yena and Lesser afim doing pretty well) or producer privilege of BE Pilseung being behind StayC (produced early big hits of Twice) who can even get a hit with a song as baby shark annoying as Asaaaaaap. Billlie is the only one not heavily privileged there (SM subsidiary but far less resources and doing the lore thing so much better than the cbeese of Kwangya navis ae stupidity, Is SM actively TRYING to ruin Kpop? Lots originality doing something oddly similar to KDA GI-DLE and early AleXa MVs where Zany Bros sadly tried to make her a Milla Jovovich movie character). Billlie have legendary longtime YG trainee Sua and almost Kep1er Sheon to attract fans, but didn't catch on really until Tsuki's viral fancam got them attention. Billlie should theorhetically also be suffering the genre hopping problem you pointed to with PK because they do it too, their identity is only in their lore stuff not their musicsl genres choices. PK did the retro disco thing with Zombie better than a lot of crap that charted well in Korea and crickets...said okay we can do the 4rh gen girl crush thing better with memeM and crushed it by adding PK style and crickets chirping again.Mamamoo didn't get a music trophy until You're the Best. RBW doesn't get a free ride like other agencies. Let's admit Mamamoo popularity in Korea mostly seemed to happen after Hwasa sat around the house sans makeup on tv shows and went to gopchang restaurants and Koreans suddenly found her relatable, then her brand ranking shot up. Aespa is not releasing 'good music' and the cheesy Kwangya storyline lyrics are LAME, Billlie also does the 'our lyrics fit our lore universe' thing, but it doesn't come across so crappy and they mske experimental music that actually sounds good unlike what passes for music at SM the past couple years (were RV Psycho and Seulrene's Monster the last 2 really good title tracks from SM? Seulgi's new title song better than what they usually crap out at SM these days). IVE Eleven was amazing and good b-side but on downward slope now (let's just take a big chunk of a famous old disco song cuz Korea will eat it up). All this laziness with IVE and NMESS only releasing 2 song singles in 7 or 8 physical versions is such a scam to rip off fans (jewel case or digipack member version CDs need to stop in Kpop in general). Don't know what ADOR / HYBE was thinking with questionable Cookie tainting 3 other great songs, we'll see how next release is. PURPLE KISS should be on bloody top of 4th gen, but people following lame trends instead of talent coupled with great music. At least Billlie is making some momentum (thank you Tsuki) and newest mini has their best b-sides yet -- B'RAVE is up there with PK CURSOR & OH MY GOSH and f_9 REWIND & ESCAPE ROOM. Going by some of the creative team behind them and some songwriters Billlie is kinda like GWSN 2.0 but successful (listen to The Park in the Night vol.2 minus the two recipe and candles songs or the b-sides from Tne Keys).
Swan is talented and confident. She doesn't need to do much just by standing on stage everyone can feel her presence. I can see her being like Hwasa, Sunmi or Chungha.
