Yea festival of choirs we sing it every year, all grade 9-12 all 7 choirs (they stopped letting the 8th graders doing because we sing with candle and they messed with them)
I had a chance to work with Mr.Trotta during the All-State honors choir last year in Tennessee and he's like the coolest guy ever lol. Even got him to autograph a piece for me
Yeah I'm naturally an alto 2. But I can get all the way up to an F5. Do I struggle to do so? Yes. But is it a clear? Yes. Everyone is like oh I love your tone. Yeah. Cuz I'm an alto who has worked countless hours to get my voice to that range. But when I see the soprano 1 part at measure 8 it's like oh the beautiful beautiful death note.
I wish no one is doing the solo at my school and the sopranos(I'm one of them) can't hit those notes comfortably and my teacher won't help and the concert is soon... also we are told we are ruining the song bc we sound so bad...

My choir sang this for our winter concert, and the soprano who got the solo (I tried out too) hates me for some reason. She pushed me during the concert when we got in our formation for this song and, when we went to sit in the audience, told me to commit suicide. Thank God I've graduated from high school.
🤔 I like the singing and the choir sound as such, but not the arrangement. Far too hectic for an otherwise contemplative gregorian source material. The arrangement of Philip Lawson suits the original chant far better IMO.
