I think the problem is that people expected SoD to be classic plus and it’s not. The only new content being provided are old dungeons converted to raids. And once people realized that, they lost interest. They wouldn’t need to time-gate us with level phase caps if they actually gave us new content that made people truly want to explore again. You can only rush content that you’re familiar with. There’s nothing new, so we might as well spam Scarlet Monastery until we hit 40, then use Wowhead to find all the runes we want.
It's such a shame how it all ended. They had something so good at the start, but Blizzard has proved that they are creatively bankrupt. They've got no one left there that has any idea what they are doing, all they can do is leech off the legacy their betters left behind.
The fact that the best tanking trinket and ring are still in Gnomeregan, forcing me to grind this place ad-infinitum - and not for it dropping for that matter, right at the tail end of ST enthusiasm, it killed the whole thing for me. And now, like 1 month after P3 dropped, I am *just* hate-waiting for P4 and hope that the remnants of our guild will be able to shoulder on and perhaps re-form the guild WHEN P4 drops and we can actually do the interesting content.
I think the Devs definitely played a role but for the most part but it was the community that killed it for me and many others. Phase 1 felt great but as the phases progressed it felt sloppier and sloppier and the players were always choosing the path of least resistance which felt really shitty and took a lot away from the game itself leading to many problems. The Devs are partly to blame although I believe the players were the biggest downfall. If there were drastic changes like somehow removing addons and warcraft logs it would be a more enjoyable experience and bring some of that magic back to the game IMO.
I agree. Remove add-ons, and if any are nessisary, then they need to be implemented into the game. Weak auras are a testament to the games failings especially in retail.
The problem with incursions is it didn't feel very "classic". The ashenvale pvp was a mess but it at least felt a bit classic and it was super fun running around ganking in ashenvale.
Im still playing every day. I can read the trade chat, I can quest without having to spend hours on waiting for mob spawns. I do raids with two characters each week and have met no problem in finding people for doing dungeons.
Thats good! theres still six servers that have no one playing at all on them! According to several census projects there are currently only about 3 servers in US that have a serviceable amount of players, the others are filled with bots and gold sellers unfortunately with the majority of people only logging in once a week for 2-3 hours raid logging.
Gnomer sucked, blood moon sucked, gold sinks sucked, class reworks sucked, farming SM sucked, ST sucked. Honestly can't think of much that was good... The community asked for classic with more content and they came out with this bs... basically wrath or cata with worst graphics

ST was tuned for 40 man, someone did an oopsie and forgot to tune it down to 20 man.
