Sir, what makes your videos so charming is first and foremost your diverse and exquisite taste on books you've read, secondly it's undoubtedly your warm personality. With my humble opinion, I'd very much like to hear about a little piece of history of you reading any particular book, like how you came about certain books, how did it make you feel after you read them and have you ever change your opinions on certain books? Anything. It'll make the videos even more lively and interesting! Thank you so much for sharing nonetheless. Cheers!
your vids are so comforting and as a 17 yr old its so great to finally see a diverse set of book rec🩶.I was so sick of the same books being recommended.
Thank you for your very kind words. I agree with you and that is the reason I started my channel. I wanted to bring attention to all of the incredible books that the vast majority of readers never read.
I absolutely love your video. Love that they’re books that i haven’t heard of. My list of books to get is forever growing. Yours channel is a gem. Hard to find booktubers that shows different books. Their channel is no different from the next. Same books over and over. Please continue this great content. Thank you 😊
Already read three of you suggestions 🥰 after seeing "The Shadow Of the Wind" in your list just won me over! It's been a joy reeding your favs! Thank you so much for sharing :)
I’m so happy to see more, I absolutely love this content and i’d love to see more!! Maybe it’d be nice to see you share some wisdom or stories from your life. Your soul is just so venerate and intoxicating!
I've never clicked on a video faster than I did on this one. whenever you decide to stop recording i just want to say i'm so glad i found your channel and have the pleasure of listening to you. until then I'm looking forward to new lists, books and your opinions one question: how many books you have in your home library? i bet it's thousands
Thank you, I plan on continuing for a while longer. I really don't know how many books I have. I have them scattered throughout the house but I'm sure it's in the thousands.
Clicked on this so fast! I've written down the names of so many of the books you mentioned in the other videos to check out. Thanks, Jerry! Keep em coming 😊
More new books! I also love to see the ones behind you because then when I see them at the library or bookstore, I'm more inclined to pull them off the shelf and give em a look.
Vasilly Grossman is becoming one of my favorite writers. Presently reading "Stalingrad" after having read "Life and Fate" and his other books including the one you showed. There a deep humanity to his work. He is able to find the inner sun in his characters and illuminate them for the reader in profound ways. Brilliant writer.
I really loved listening to you talk about these books! This is the first of your videos that I’ve watched and I hope there will be many more! Cheers from England ❤️
Pls sir continue your video because you provide us with different writings that we have never heard of and it creates enthusiasm and an array of joy to be able to read the books suggested by you btw love from India
I'm a 16 years old, and yes, I love watching your recommendations. It's so wonderful, nowadays when book recommendations are all about those books which aren't that good and literally they have spolied the whole literature, you came to my youtube suggestion and l love how you talk about the books and I want to read the real books that you recommend not those books which are famous today for no reason, thank you so much sir 😊. Also, could you please recommend me a good book that I should read at this age, I'm confused about which book should I read first that you are recommending 😅
Thank you for your very kind words. As you may have noticed, I'm an old man but I think I was about your age when I first read Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and loved it. A few other books that come to mind are: Remembering Babylon by David Malouf, about a young cabin boy who was washed overboard from a ship and became stranded on the shores of the Australian outback, Paradise by Abdulrazak Gurnah about a young boy who was sold into servitude by his father to pay of a debt or another book that I consider my favorite book of all time The Whereabouts of Ennis McNulty by Sebastian Barry.
Thank you for more wonderful suggestions. Again you've given me some authors I've not heard of (the Sergei Lebedev looks good and is currently available as an ebook from my library), and some reminders of authors I've been meaning to get to (Calvino).
Thank you for the new video! We would also love in-depth book videos with a little bit on how you liked a book, why so, stories about your reading journey in life, and anecdotes (of course if that's something you want to share with the audience).
Thank you for your suggestion but I've found that there are many reviewers who are very good at giving in-depth discussions of books but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. I've found that if I try to talk too long about a book I tend to give away the whole story and spoil it for the reader.
Yay! Another "last" list! I'm so GLAD you are back with more. I am writing down ALL yr recommendations. Don't know if I will ever get to them all. But I like knowing I have the "lists"! ❤❤❤❤❤❤📕📔📖📗📘
I've had several requests to make a video showing my shelves, but I would rather not get into making those types of videos. I think I'll just stick to talking about books I've read.
So happy for you and happy you are making more videos. Im tired of all the fake influencers pushing all the same crap. I value your opinions and recommendations because i know you are genuine and are actually sharing with us the books you enjoy. Cant wait for more videos. And i need to read Hiroshima, it sounds interesting! Thank you for continuing making videos ❤😊
I would like to continue with that series, but my problem is that many of the writers I want to talk about are going to require me to reread some of the books because it's been so many years since I read most of them. That was my reason for attempting to end my channel, in the first place, because I wanted to read new books instead of the ones I've already read.
Some ideas: 10 books that made me cry 10 books that made me laugh 10 books that surprised me 10 books I read in one sitting 10 books that blindsighted me 10 best historical books I've read 10 books I would save in a fire 10 books that left me stunned 10 books for beginner readers 10 books for (theme) lovers 10 books I missed sleep for
Great to see another 25. Hey, I've got an idea. You Should feed the algorithm. I suggest 1,002 books to Read While You're Still Alive. At 25 a post, that should keep the algorithm happy. But you better be quick about it, or else someone might steal the idea. Well, that was fun. Keep them coming.
Great idea but I don't know if I want to continue with the channel through 1002 books, 25 at a time. I will, however, probably continue for a while with the 25 books at a time.
i love this mini series! i relate to never being able to make up my mind and then thinking of better ideas after the fact 😅 i’m impressed by your will to not repeat authors, as well! once i find someone i like i seem to fixate on their work lol
You've been blessed by the UA-cam algorithm! It's heartwarming to see that you've been motivated to keep going.
