The worst traffic stop I've ever seen. Park right on his ass with no reactionary gap, slam the door, no fingerprints left of the vehicle, rushed right up to the door, no road side interview, turns his back to the vehicle, vehicle out of his line of sight when writing, then walks up with a clipboard in his support hand. I cringed. Complacency.

    • @FancyDerp
      @FancyDerp 8 років тому +6

Leaving fingerprints on the vehicle can make a noise or shake a vehicle and alert the suspect to your presence, most important at night, if the suspect can't see you over the lights it can make a bad guy aware you're approaching. As far as the turning your back, what else is he supposed to do? I guess complacency is always something to be concerned about but they're on a military base

MP is a great MOS. Your recruiter obviously has a different MOS and maybe he got stopped one too many times by an MP, but when you talk to an MP most of them give positive feedback on their experiences.

Maybe it should not look this way but it looks relaxed and kind of chill. I bet it is pretty safe on the base as well... EVeryone has to have an ID to get in as not comparable to anyone driving into any town I want without notice. Definetly not a bad job to have.

YOU may think that's badass but it's really not. Just wait until you get to boot camp and if you make it especially MCT. You'll see how much everyone in the Marine Corps naturally hates you. And don't be name calling me boy, you don't fucking rate the gravel off my boots until you walk across that parade deck.

I hesitated and called my dad to get reassurance and when I got off the phone they said the slots were gone. I left and went home. Two hours later, amazingly, a single slot had opened and the recruiter was at my door telling me they were holding it for me...
Be FIRM and don't give in to their pressure. This is your military career... not theirs.

MP's work for the DOD Dept of Defense. They are consigned under a Provost Marshall. Usually commanded by a Major or above rank. They attend AIT in Ft Leonard-wood Missouri. Formerly all MP training was in Ft McCLellan Al. Since closed. Infantry and more in depth Law Enforcement and Military Intelligence, Criminal Intelligence are ongoing in each MP company the soldier is assigned. Training never stops. Testing and qualification is ongoing for the length of a Military Police career.

  • @pennjd1

Titles are very specific when referring to a specific event or group of people, but when all branches are grouped together to refer to the Armed Forces, soldiers is generally accepted. You don't call a fireman a cop, but they are still first responders.

Yes. They can give tickets, help Military Police Investigators, protect crime scenes on base, and assist the Criminal Investigation Division (CID). You have two different types of Military Police. Law & Order with the PMO, CID, and Military Police Investigation (MPI) and then you have Combat Support MP's who deploy to Iraq and are just basically infantry with a different SOP

When he refers to patrolling off base, he isn't meaning an actual patrol. He is referring to answering calls when a service member is involved. This usually happens when a local law enforcement is not available, or when called in by local law enforcement.

It should also be worth noting that when he addressing the motorist he stop he referred to him as "sir" which if the motorist was a military officer then as an NCO (which is what all ranks of Sergeant and Navy Equivalents are) he was acknowledging the rank of the person he stopped as military officer are addressed as sir/ma'am regardless of branch.

They are direct representative of the Base Commander. They are not certified by the State and only can enforce rules, regulations, and vehical standards set by the base Provost Marshals Office. They can write civilians tickets who are on the base and write an DD 1805 Traffic citation to them, but they deal with that at the county court house instead of the base court system.

03 is the usmc infantry field, 0311 is rifleman, alot of guys were going for recon when I went to MEPS and and the way it works for them is they get to try the recon indoctrination guaranteed, but if they don't pass it's 0311. The army offered a similar contract for ranger indoc according to my friend in the army, but like you said, you're canandian so I wouldn't expect the same protocol. Do you guys get to pick another field if something doesn't work out or would you have to wait?

When typically referring to the Armed Forces, it is correct to address them as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. But it is generally accepted to just address them as Soldiers. Although not correct, it is also accepted to refer to them as troops (a term for Cavalry). However, when referring to a specific branch, the correct title must be used. Sailor for Navy, Soldier for Army, Airman for Air Force, and Marine for Marines.

I know that, my guess is it is also seperated for the same reason State, County, and city police are seperated. All I'm saying is it supports another advantage. It can help people who want to go into law enforcements after the military. Military experence looks good on an application, but that and military police looks even better.

Also the MP in this video is not in the ARMY so he is not a SOLDIER he's a Marine. The motorist he pulled over is likely another Marine or other service member. If otherwise its likely the spouse of a Marine or possibly a civilian contractor as the public arnt normally pernitted to drive through bases. MPs also stand at the gates checking vehicles comming into base similar to private security guards who may also be present in lieu of MPs

Military Police are just like any civilian entity. With the exception they are combat trained. On occasion they will have to go out into the field and conduct anything from convoys to and including apprehension of a perp. Be it civilian, soldier or dependent. They are the law enforcement for the post to include all areas of contonement, field and wilderness areas of the post. Also easements of the post and perimeter.
