- I first heard this song in a fabulous Veronica Lodge video and was immediately inspired! I think one of the beautiful things about the youtube vidding community is how we all pour into this huge pool of creativity and and get inspired by others and then songs, ideas, concepts, effects etc become popular and make their way around youtube like a chain reaction and you can sort of trace it all like some kind of internet archaeologist. I'm saying this because a recently a dear friend of mine got a lot of dislikes on a video which she said was inspired by another vidder and like, seriously... just chill people? It's okay! We all take inspiration from others sometimes and it's great! I'm always very honoured and happy when someone says my videos have inspired them. We should encourage that, so there will be more people who are encouraged to start editing and more wonderful videos! From which we all benefit!
Ahem!... Anyway, Marian is my queen and none of her shitty boys really treated her the way she deserves, although I love them all, too xD

YES! Perfect Marian song. People really annoy me when they imagine that she's "leading on" all the obnoxious twerps who obtrude themselves on her, insist that they love her, and then act like possessive jerkfaces.
Yes!! A thousand times this!! Like I'm a Guy/Marian shipper, but I don't think Marian owes him shit or that she is to blame for, like you say, "leading him on", when she's basically a political prisoner in the castle and has to make use of any resource she can get, which is a lonely position to take in this fandom apparently. Many G/M shippers seem to think that it's all her fault how things turned out between them. And Robin/Marian shippers don't seem to acknowledge how creepy and controlling Robin can also be, especially when she lived with him at the forest. I stan Marian/happiness tbh :D
Exactly! Guy basically forces her into a corner in season 1, where the only choices are marriage to him or death for herself, her father, and practically everyone important to her. In season 2, everyone, including Guy, makes it abundantly clear that if she states her true political and moral opinions, or behaves as she wishes, she will not only destroy herself and her father, but risk the success of all attempts to overthrow the Sheriff, who is destroying the land she loves. And then he has the nerve to twit her with hurting his poor widdle feelings?
As for Robin...Smug-faced, manipulative, womanising Robin, he steals her idea to save the poor by robbing from the rich in season 1, then preens himself, saying he does it better. He eventually bamboozles Marian into believing that he does it better than she does. He never once chooses her over "glory", or King Richard, or England. MUCH prioritises Robin's relationship with Marian more than he does! And he is continually acting like a dog in the manger when it comes to Guy's heavy-handed blackmail-courtship. In season 2, Marian, stifled by the Sheriff, grieving for her father, runs away to what Robin has been advertising as freedom in the forest. When she gets there, everything she does is treated as "reckless," despite Robin being far more of a daredevil in inviting a perfect stranger back to their stronghold, and thus endangering them all. She's never allowed to be in the right, not once. If she fights, she's reckless. If she passively manipulates Guy, she's treated like a flirt. If she saves the poor, she's told to "do her embroidery". If she has anything resembling a life outside of Robin, he belittles it. And, by the time Season 3 rolls around, he's done grieving.
Marian needs to be alone and happy, or possibly have a friendship-that-turns-into-romance with Allan, after she's had tons of adventures in the Holy Land, being awesome by herself.
Exactly! She has no choice in the matter, his socially stunted feelings don't trump her need for freedom and safety! And lmaoo, a very big reason I'm a Guy/Marian shipper in the first place is that Robin doesn't really seem to give shit about her, except as vaguely regarding her as rightfully his, sort of "the hero's girl" who he will get as a trophy once he's won or w/e. Even their proposal is so passionless! First we'll bring the king home and then get married. The king comes first, always!! And I never really liked Richard, historically or on the show, so... baah!!
