I completely agree with the decision to set yourself apart from the traditional caveman / prehistoric aesthetic. The revised designs are far superior :)
I like how the two different iterations of the entourage almost feel like evolutions. Like you said in the first video, if human life is so long, what will happen with skillsets and study? The first iteration almost feels like the start of the group, the first worshippers and the students early equipment of the hunt. The second feels almost centuries down the line, where the pecking order hasn't changed, but the skills have been refined to a needlepoint.
Kinda hope that Wolfy survives to become a reoccurring character. Dude looks cool as hell and having the Smart Guy of the group escape instead of fighting to the death would be interesting
Actually now that I look closer at the full lineup of characters, I think that the Hunter may require another iteration to set him above the entourage designs. As it stands he looks a little too much like he is just another member rather than their leader. In fact the Warthog design is so extravagant that he almost appears the leader.
I agree. Maybe Warthog could become a secondary antagonist from a different faction that serves as a wildcard for the story 🤔. Or just remove the skirt and keep him dynamic. A tall posture and his clothing naturally makes him look like hes in charge
@@The_WanderArtI like the idea of the warthog being his own villain, maybe as a sort of rival to the hunter, a former follower who wishes to usurp him as the “god” of the hunt
This project is illuminating, love to see the design process. That said I can't help but feel the titanoboa design got lost in a less interesting and fell into the old fashioned generic thin female trope, I had been more interested in the idea of a less typical design focusing on the size, strength, and crushing power of the titanoboa. I notice that by the end of the design no aspect of the titanoboa remains replaced in its entirety by the cobra. Which I feel was a missed opportunity. This is especially the case when the other hunters gained so much character from their redesigns. All in all a fascinating project your design chops are readily apparent. I am very excited for future updates.
I thoroughly agree with this. I definitely think a bigger, stronger design would be more on theme for her. Especially since the Centipede is already poison themed.
A friend of mine recommended that the Centipede should have like several people under his cloak like those Chinese dragon costumes and stuff, maybe he could have a poison or venom that allows him to mind control people and work for him
This channel has been such a shock to my art block, thank you for that. Secondly, Warthog looks like the leader now, not a bad thing though, guy has full on Imorten Joe level swagger.
I love your line up, especially the Direwolf and the Centipede. Direwolf's new mask sells him for me and I just lovely how scrungly and mysterious the Centipede looks and is in all his designs. I imagine he would be one of the scariest out of the Hunter's acoyltes (they are all scary in their own ways tbf) despite being the smallest as pretty much everything he does is...off. Would he even talk? I imagine he would just chitter if he would say anything at all, I think him being more of the silent hunter that would hang on a ceiling and just wait to drop down and stab his target with all those envenomed knives. Kind of like how house centipedes tend to attack people. All there designs are really cool though. I love what you did with it.
GAH I LOVE IT!!!!!❤️❤️❤️ This is so cool being able to see all the different people in this culture! Even though I loved the prehistoric look before the finished project-it still fit the lore perfectly and the end result is still amazing as well Goodness it’s making me think of other things you might do- like fishermen or even scientists. Fishermen who can ride sharks or monks that can wait for weeks at a time waiting for a catch Scientists who perfected the craft so much that it looks like magic Whatever you come up with I’m gonna be gushing about it for weeks!😄🔥🔥🔥 keep it up!
Amazing work, the second pass on the Acolytes was worth it! The whole presentation of this is also well done :D The music was at some points a bit overwhelming, but a great choice and very fitting!
I do worry that the hunter’s entourage might be a bit more flashy/seem more like the main focus than the hunter himself, he kinda seems like a secondary character compared to their grand outfits
I like that concept, it could add to the danger they pose. You focus on the flashy entourage, all while the minimalistic hunter strikes from an unexpected position. Like another tool for him to use, the hunter sees his followers desperation to embody their “god” as just another tool.
Wow, I agree with those updates to the entourage. I liked where you finished with the Hunter and I was getting concerned that they were going to steal his limelight, but he still looks like the Lucas Lee of the team.
Just wanna ask , since your artbook is based on characters from the the Genesis section of the bible any other well-know biblical characters that will be making a appearance? Like Cain, Abel or Adam and Eve ? Also any monsters aswell ?
I’ve got a lot of plans, so we’ll see how they unfold. For example: at this time, Adam and Eve would be dead, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get to see them in some form.
@@mattrhodesart I would recommend re-reading the Witch of Endor story in 1 Samuel 28. Great example of necromancy in the OT. Edit: There's also this strange scene in 2 Kings 13:20-21 where someone's dead body is throne into Elisha's grave and upon touching Elisha's bones the dead man is resurrected. So the dead body of a prophet holds some sort of power. Adam and Eve's bones could be quite valuable in this world if that is the case...
I have two issues with the acolytes. One, in a later video you show of the mega-fauna of the world and none are aligning. Example why is he a wolf when raptors are the apex of his archetype? Second, the sabretooth's claws are too common if I may. Check the Bagh nakh blades that are similar but since they are inside the palm they can make him have more cocky attitudes.
I love all of these, your process inspires me a lot to do my own thing! though I'm far from being able to be so productive... you don't do all of these in the same sitting do you ? The video makes it seems like you do, idk if I feel like you're superhuman or if I'm just unfit ;w ;
the greates critique i have for your passion project is how you missed the opportunity to design a character named titanoboa into a snake themed giantess amazonian muscle mommy with toxicity issues.
Love it! Although the more symbollic designs feel like they might overshadow the main hunter. Maybe he needs an update as well? Or do you like him being more primitive? Like an ancient god
I believe the minimalist design works perfectly for him because he isn't there to flash his prey. He wants to kill his prey as efficiently with nothing impractical worn to slow him down or look obvious
4:50 looks good but her body doesn't seem like a hunter, if she is hinting or what she is doing she needs lil bit more muscle and a but thicker, i mean yes she can fight but see going to be very weak and that mean she can use only poison BUT titanoboa was actually not so poisonous hunter more like flexible and strong
I'm gonna say, I think the original design fits best for the Centipede, because it makes him look like a freakish low-life bottom-feeder, like his name-sake, making him the least human out of all the acolytes.
I think you should rename the titanoboa to the cobra or re-do her: Mediterranean people would be familiar first and foremost with venomous snakes, not constrictors like titanoboa. Either Venom fighter -> Cobra Or titanoboa -> tanking inspiration from grappling martial arts and/or strangling ropes
While I actually liked the cave men aesthetic, I fully understand why you changed it. I do agree that now it looks almost like the warthog is the leader, but I think there is a way to make that work, if you lean into the warthogs decadent, so he’s so fat that he has to sit in a chair all day while the Hunter still works in the field, hating his fat lazy apprentice that doesn’t even hunt anymore but uses his flimsy connection and his few hunting stories to bask in his own non existent greatness. Just an idea.

These designs compell me to just think about the stories they are involved in. That is such a achievement done by art alone.

Here’s my thinking: the Hunter is the most focused. The true Hunter. The Warthog is letting his status as an acolyte get to his head.

@@mattrhodesart so, is the reason you chose the warthog to be the youngest acolyte to also show how juvenile he is compared to the others?

I do like it. The hunter has no need to distinguish himself, he is their God and he is focused on deed.

And, of course, mammoths
