@@storieswithcookie OoT and M'sM have the same Link, it's by extension the same Ganondorf but the details of his armor are differents of those presents in Ocarina of Time
About the "Wind Waker" controversy, there are a few things I'd like to point out. I get the feeling that the story of that controversy is being told nowadays by people who were too young to remember how things were when it happened at best, and who weren't even born back then at worst. And that's problematic, because it's distorting the reality of it all. 1.- The controversy wasn't due to the SpaceWorld 2000 tech demo (it wasn't shown first at E3 2001). It definitely added fuel to it, but even if that demo hadn't existed at all and Nintendo had shown the SpaceWorld 2001 tech demo first, the controversy would have happened with the exact same intensity anyway. The reason being because fans wanted Nintendo to continue in the same line from "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask". That's were the vast majority of the expectations came from. The tech demo only reinforced it. 2.- The main reason why the game was so controversial at the time of release it's because it was created kind of at the wrong time. Nintendo was coming from losing their dominance in the video game industry to Sony in large part because Sony managed to move the main demographic of gamers from children and pre-teens, to teenagers and young adults. And Nintendo didn't know how to keep up with that, since they had very few games that could compete directly with games as a "Metal Gear Solid", the "Final Fantasy" series, horror games like the "Resident Evil" and "Silent Hill" series, etc, etc. That made teenage and young adult Nintendo fans from the early 2000s to feel EXTREMELY frustrated. And that without taking into account the social stigma that Nintendo got during the N64 era, of being a company that targeted children under 12 years old almos exclusively. Or said in other words, Nintendo didn't learn to grow up alongside their audience, while Sony did. The Zelda series was one of the few exceptions. It's one of the unsung reasons as to why "Ocarina of Time" was so beloved. So when Nintendo showed the TWW tech demo, it felt like baffling tone deaf decision at best, and a betrayal at worst. 3.- And the thing is... fans were kind of right? "The Wind Waker" turned out to be a game that squarely targeted to pretty much everyone... except for the demographic group that was most dominant in the early 2000s. The game is still clearly targeted to children under 12 years old, not only because of its aesthetics, but because of how ridiculously easy it was compared to its predecessors. But its story and themes were also largely targeted towards adults... but adults over 25 years old, since young adults have a much harder time resonating with the story's themes of accepting your time is over and you should give way to the future. Or in other words, the game was targeted to children under 12 and adults over 25... in a time when the biggest demographic was people in between 12 and 25. 4.- However, being a game primarily targeted at children had a positive effect, that was most likely deliberated. Once the people who played this game as children grew up and were old enough to voice their opinion without being drowned out by they older counterparts (who, make no mistake, most of them didn't change their minds about the game), then they started to champion this game to the point that its reputation got a massive boost. 5.- The HD remaster also was largely responsible for the game's current popularity. Not only because it was released in a game market that was far more diverse than it was in the early 2000s, but also because Nintendo had improved significantly at providing experiences to all demographics, and the medium's obsession with being perceived as "mature"... I won't say that it diminished, because that'd be untrue, but it shifted from expressing that obsession through bashing games perceived to be for children, to creating essentially the video game equivalente of "oscar bait" ("Bioshock Infinite", "The Last of Us", God of War 2018", etc). Also, the fact that the game fixed, or at the very least, improved the original's flaws through quality of life features also helped. Well, sorry for the long post. But I truly think these elements should be at the forefront while discussing the evolution of that particular Zelda controversy.
I'm old enough to remember a lot of these controversies. I remember the backlash for windwaker as well as TP. I also remember people ragging on TP because they felt like it was OoT 2.0
The Legend of Zelda series is one of, if not the only series, that repeatedly, and significantly changes their games' style and gameplay, and with (mostly) great success. With every iteration, I'm always expecting something new and unqiue. And even with the TOTK controversy of the reused map and content, the other innovations made in that game are enough to make it something great.
@@Pop_Shepski You could play the HD version instead then, as they gave it a more 'button-based' control scheme. (Though motion controls similar to the Wii, with the joy-cons, is also possible.)
21:26 - That's only partly true. Only North America got TP on that date, and it was just the Wii version. While Japan, Europe & Australia got both versions (and NA got the GC version) in December. Though Japan was the only place that got the Gamecube & Wii versions on the same day.

What controversy did you find most surprising?
That GameCube tech demo looks like a battle between adult majoras mask link battling ganondorf before his final sealing by the sages 😭
I believe the models were both from Ocarina of Time. Definitely wish we got that game!
@@storieswithcookie only thing that makes me see that is the shield is the same as the one Majora's mask link carries at begining lol
