@@agridencesince sun rises in east, if we done the tapping North to South automatically the panel faces the east or west. for west facing it's no the problem while facing east the full panel in direct sunlight right???
From the video at 6:22, "North" and "South" direction refer to the panel facing North or South - so tapping is done from East to West direction. When done correctly for your plantation, the full panel should be shaded from direct sunlight.
The 2cm spaces help the nutrients and water flow over from roots to leafs. Since the barks function as a nutrients, water and rubber funnel, if the panels meet each other and left nothing behind, it can interfere with bark repair, stem growth and cause various diseases such as dry tapping panels.
this is to ensure sufficient space for downward and upward panels over the tree's entire lifespan. If you choose to tap downward panel at a higher height, then the future upward panel will need to be even higher which might be difficult.
