  • "I believe that Jorge, if they don't dress him in red, he's going to leave."
Jorge Lorenzo's theory about the future of Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín
The five-time world champion has relied on "logic" to dissect the possible future of the Spaniards in 2025. As the date of Ducati's decision announcement approaches, the fight for the MotoGP World Championship between Jorge Martín, Pecco Bagnaia, and Marc Márquez tightens.
The distance from the first to the third is just 40 points, and in Bologna, they seem to be between a rock and a hard place to decide who will accompany the reigning champion in 2025.
Analyzing the landscape on 'DAZN', Jorge Lorenzo pointed out what he believes would be the most logical option for Ducati.
"What Ducati would like is to keep all four. That would be ideal for them, to dress all four in red, but it's impossible due to regulations, so they have to choose one. I believe they can keep three. One has to go," he first contextualized in Balearic. The five-time champion believes that the one from San Sebastián de los Reyes will be more inflexible than the one from Cervera: "I believe that Jorge, if they don't dress him in red, he's going to leave. Bastianini, if they relegate him, will also leave. And the only one they could keep without dressing him in red is Marc Márquez, but with a bike from that year." Therefore, "the most logical" thing would be for Marc to replace Jorge at Pramac to have the same bike: "To keep at least three of the four, it would be to put Jorge Martín in red and Márquez with a bike exactly like Bagnaia's and Martín's, but from Red Bull in Gresini or Pramac if he stays at Ducati." This was Marc Márquez's father's reaction to overtaking Bagnaia on the last lap
At the French Grand Prix, Marc Márquez once again staged an epic comeback, going from thirteenth position to finish second ahead of the reigning world champion: this was his father's reaction. Marc Márquez once again demonstrated in Le Mans that he is in a brutal form. The Spaniard was able to make an impressive sprint race comeback, completing a start in which he overtook riders as if their rivals' bikes belonged to lower categories.
Just when it was thought that the sprint would be his best result of the weekend, Marc Márquez again repeated another impeccable comeback on Sunday. The Gresini rider maintained a spectacular pace, and considering he has a 2023 Ducati, the result he achieved was totally unexpected. In the final laps, he was running third behind Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín, who were fighting for the lead. The Catalan was just over a second behind the leaders, and after Martinator overtook Pecco, Marc managed to close the gap significantly. He waited until the last lap and finally passed the Italian, who couldn't regain second place.
Julià Márquez, who was in the Gresini box, was the perfect representation of all Marc's fans and followers. When the Catalan made the overtaking move, his father didn't take long to react: "Come on, come on!", he cheered with a shout while raising his hands. Marc is now just two points behind Pecco Bagnaia and 40 behind Jorge Martín in the standings. There is still a long way to go in the championship, and Márquez has the chance to fight for the title if he continues to perform like this.
