    I'm really glad JusReign is on JKNews, I love how he brings in different perspectives (which, yes, I know is the point of guest stars/featuring different people on), but I actually really relate with a lot of his points and am glad to hear them discussed with the JK-Cast. Either way, I always enjoy the discussions!
    EDIT TWO WEEKS LATER AFTER THIS COMMET: Holy shiet, 633 likes? Woah, haha thank you ha.

      This is true. Lol Joe is just bad at expressing his ideas sometimes because his words come out directly from his thoughts. Basically what he was trying to say was if someone really wanted to commit suicide, they wouldn't try to attract attention and do it discreetly/at no inconvenience of others. In this case, the man was also showing a cry for help.

      Allen Silva in most cases people think they’re a huge inconvenience to others and live their life trying to make other people happy that’s why they try to take their life in the first place; in their head they’re just a huge inconvenience. Saying “don’t be an inconvenience to others” may literally be more selfish than actually killing yourself.

      it takes a bit of energy to suicide. depression takes all of one's energy and will away, so a lot of suicides happen in ways that are conveniently accessible at the moment for the person. there are ppl that plan and organize themselves to die, but it is unrealistic to expect them to do so given their state of mind.

    • @LarryVasquez82

      The Japanese government will fine and punish your family if you did public suicide like jumping off railway.
      No one wants to clean up your severed dead body, some people will get traumatized seeing that shit.
      I don't have empathy for egoistical fuck who do suicide and still be a nuisance even after they die. Even worse if they kill others before kill themselves.
      Yes you are depressed, it's not an instant thing, you actually have a choice to get help, it's a gradual thing..and when you want to end your life, it's your choice to be an inconvenience for others or did it on secluded area.

    People that go out that way are just trying to see one last time, if they MATTER to anyone, at that point. "Seeking attention" are the wrong words. "Inconvenience" is just the wrong attitude. Suicidal people are victims of their own head and a prisoner of their own thoughts, which is a mental defect. You wouldn't tell someone with a physical defect, you are "inconveniencing" me with your inability to walk, or maybe you would? Furthermore, we've ALL been an inconvenience to someone. Have you ever been late...sick...miscalculated something...too drunk to drive home...lied ...late paying a bill...or even pulled out in front of someone in your car? Thank God for COMPASSION, because the same way we all "inconvenience" others, we all need compassion, so be careful, you never know when you might need some "inconvenient compassion"!

  • @j4xx01antern

    Vidoes like this make me so mad when they are talking about people who commit/try to commit suicide in a public place. Yes sometimes it's a cry for help in hopes that you will be shown that someone cares even if it's a random person. But when you're at a point where you are so low that you are half way through a plan, you're not thinking straight. It's ridiculous when people say "suicide is selfish", if anything it's the complete opposite. Most people commit suicide because they are thinking of others and there affect on the world around them. They think that they are a burden and they see it as helping others by lifting the burden that is themselves. And you can't look at some and say "yeah I'm going through shit too but I'm not putting other people's lives on the line." 1) they are mentally ill and aren't thinking about it that way 2) they see no other way to deal with all the things they are struggling with unlike someone who can logically look at problems. And to be like "why don't people just slit there wrists or blow there heads off" is so insensitive but some ways are harder then others and they may look for the easiest accessible way.

    • @rezriaz2153
      @rezriaz2153 6 років тому +8

      I think the problem is when their suicide affects other innocent people, such as traumatizing bystanders and even injuring others near by. What if a guy jumps off a bridge on a highway and hits a car and injures the driver, or what if the car swerves to avoid him and ends up hitting another car and injuring or killing that other drive, these are innocent people as well. Remember JK once did an article about a lady who wanted to commit suicide so she crashed her car into a semi truck and the truck driver ended up dying while she lived.

    • @j4xx01antern
      @j4xx01antern 6 років тому +4

      @@rezriaz2153 I realise that that is a problem but I'm just trying to say, people aren't thinking about that and it isn't there main priority when they do these kinds of things. They are just thinking of killing them selves.

      Jaxxon Zych well thats exactly what joes trying to say. “Don’t care, just thinking about killing themselves” so imagine someone is trying to end their life by jumping in a busy highway from above. The landing causes someone else’s to die, maybe that was a man/woman who’s a provider of a family of 4kids is now unintentionally killed by someone else. Yes suicide is a serious problem and we should collectively help the ones that’s needed, but that doesn’t excuse them to be reckless and hurt others in the process. I’d imagine if that person survived the jump and accidentally killed or hurt someone else, they would be prosecuted in court.

    • @j4xx01antern
      @j4xx01antern 6 років тому +1

      @@dmnfilms6040 I understand I'm just trying to explain that there intentions aren't to hurt others and they aren't exactly thinking about how they are hurting others. But it's not selfish to the person that's in that situation. They don't want to hurt anyone else. They are literally thinking they are doing the opposite of being selfish. It is a problem with the ways they could hurt others but they aren't thinking about that and you can't expect them to think of these things with a rational mind like you or I would when they are at a point like this.

    I can understand how suicide seems selfish to a stable person but when you’re in that situation you aren’t rational. Imagine your brain convincing you that you have no worth and that you’re nothing more than a burden to the people around you, plus factor in things like trauma, debt or other possible triggers and that person on that ledge doesn’t care what you think about what they do next. You can also consider that if it is a cry for help then it could be because often, if you have mental health problems, help isn’t available until you do something drastic. Regardless, someone who is pushed to that point needs to be treated with compassion. Nobody would put themselves in that danger for no reason.

  • @jml9984
    @jml9984 6 років тому +4

    Joe, suicide is selfish? Seriously? You don’t know what they’re going through. That was such an ignorant statement from a smart dude. I’m glad JusReign and Tiff disagreed with him.

    • @BuddyLoveDance
      @BuddyLoveDance 6 років тому

      Suicide is extremely selfish. Whether the reason they do it is out of selfishness or not. The act of suicide itself by defenition is selfish.

    • @jml9984
      @jml9984 6 років тому

      So someone has to stay alive for the sake of their family and friends’ satisfaction? What if they have a terminal illness like ALS or Alzheimer’s where it just gets worse and worse and they don’t want to bring the burden onto their family? What if they have severe mental illnesses and while being alive, no one reached out a hand?
      I’m not promoting it, but a person’s state of mind when close to committing suicide is not like a healthy one’s. There are many aspects to it that are selfish (e.g. the person that has to clean it up) but to dump onto them “that’s so selfish” on top of whatever demons they’re fighting doesn’t help. As a psych major, I expected Joe to be more understanding.

    • @BuddyLoveDance
      @BuddyLoveDance 6 років тому

      @@jml9984 You're creating reasons for it to be OK. No one is talking about those with illnesses, if you have a sickness is completely beside the point. My point is the fact that you are ending your suffering and passing it to your family members/significant other directly fits the definition of selfishness. Even if someone were to have an illness as you described ending their life because of it is selfish by definition

    • @jml9984
      @jml9984 6 років тому

      No, suicide is not selfish “by definition.” Please, show me a well researched, objective written work that would define suicide as selfish. We should not be undervaluing mental illness as a not good enough reason to commit suicide, while we are somehow okay if it is a terminal illness.
      I watched a video where a woman described severe mental illness as a cancer to the mind that you cannot physically see. I thought it was a good analogy and brings up the question of why we condone suicide for physical illnesses but do not mental illnesses? Antidepressants and therapy don’t always work, like how chemo doesn’t always work for cancer patients.
      An example- a famous Korean singer named JongHyun committed suicide. He left a note, “But they said I should live. I asked why so many times, but it's not for me. It's for you. I wanted to be for me. Don't say things that don't make sense.” Clearly, being told “suicide is selfish” is no help. It’s even more selfish of the loved ones to say that. There’s zero sympathy, they just want this person to stay alive because they want it. If you aren’t living with their suffering, you aren’t in a place to judge.
      Also, many people with mental illnesses have a warped mind and believe they are a burden and would be doing a service to the people around them by disappearing.

    • @BuddyLoveDance
      @BuddyLoveDance 6 років тому

      You're talking to specific they're speakin on suicide in a general and more common. Of the 30% increase in suicide rate from 1999 to 2016 over half did not have mental health issues. So its not only those with an illness they're talking about the average suicide victims which over half do not half a mental health problem. Telling people that suicide isn't selfish would just further increase the rate of suicide. The reason most potential victims back out is because of the burden and pain they would cause to they're loved ones so they decide not to be "selfish".

Someone is not in control of a deadly situation and in need of immediate assistance. If they were lucky enough for someone else to notice and do something, the police and EMTs arrive. Just like any other emergency.

      I kind of agree with joe only because if he had jumped off the bridge into traffic, he could have landed on someones car or in front of someones car as they're on the freeway, which would be extremely traumatizing but could have also caused traffic accidents as well.

    Tbh I really agree with Joe towards the end. My reason is because there are people that jump in the road to get hit by a car. I feel that it’s selfish because you’re causing an inconvenience to another person when they didn’t do anything wrong. Especially with there are those people that shoot others and then kill them self after. There are so many ways to connect to people and to talk. You shouldn’t just stand on the edge of something just so someone can talk you out of it.

  • @butterflyeffect8214

    I can’t believe no one understood how joe was saying, if you want to leave this world then don’t go out by possibly harming and killing other people. If you are crying out for help, do it in a way that won’t hurt others. Even if someone is in such a dark place they would still be able to know if their actions would harm another person. Obviously jumping onto an overpass could kill others. So there’s no excuse for killing yourself in situations like that. Worse than being selfish, cuz you are possibly taking someone else’s life for your own issues.

    I found a suicidal woman on the overpass where I work. It was a small overpass but I was still scarred for her life because no one noticed and the morning traffic is crazy. I had to stop traffic and tried to stand below her before the police came to the scene and releived us. Unfortunately she was (possibly) on drugs and did jump eventually, however a police chief later informed me that she lived from the fall.
    It was on the same day as another suicide (murder?) over in Pasadena that was all over the news.

    I kind of get where Joe is coming from. Back when I was suicidal I planned to take measures to keep my family or an unsuspecting person from finding me so I wouldn’t cause them that potential trauma. I’d even considered ways to make it easier to clean my body up for when I had to be removed. When I was planning I put in thought to keep my dead ass from being a worse nuisance than I had to be. With all of that said however when my suicidal impulses were the strongest, mean the closest to actually attempting and completing, I truly could not give a fuck about all of that because the mental and emotional pain was so strong. So I understand Joe’s thinking because I felt the same before I came the closest I’d ever been to actually ending my life. The others are right. You really don’t have the capacity anymore to be considerate of others like you should once you reach a certain point.

    I'm with Joe. About 2 years ago on my way to work the station was blocked off because someone jumped in front of the train. Luckily I got there 5 mins after I usually do otherwise I would've been there when it happened. Still pissed me the hell off because there were a lot of young kids at the station on their way to school that saw that shit. Way to traumatize everyone.

    nahh here in the east coast, or at least in new jersey the stereotype for Indians and people with middle eastern origins are stereotyped to be 7/11 owner/workers and gas station workers. obviously this is not entirely accurate, but this is what a lot of people see and think about Indians and middle eastern people in NJ

    I understand Joe's point of view. Jumping into oncoming traffic can traumatise others and potentially create more problems. For example if a car swerves into the other lane to avoid being hit, that car risks a danger to others, even its self. Or even witnessing the death can be traumatic, meaning the witness has to seek psychological help for years. Potentially traumatising them for life. I don't think Joe was being ignorant. I believe being in a secluded area where you don't inconvenience others is better than traumatising hundreds for life. I just don't think that the people who are suicidal realise the effect it has on others as their minds are focused on themselves in the moment. But then again those are usually impulsive suicides.
