Skaven lore is some of the coolest stuff in warhammer. I just love the idea of this massive empire underground that most people don’t even know about. Also I love all the psychotic experiments clan moulder and skryre do. Fingers crossed we get thanquol in 2023!
I do hope that we get an underground/dungeon/underempire campaign map that the greenskins, skaven and dwarfs get a chance to romp around in. They spend most of their time below ground. The conflict can spill out overground but most of the fighting happens deep within the earth.
@@shadowwill that would be amazing, sadly I don’t think it will ever happen. The IE map is already huge and I’m not sure it can handle much more, also I don’t think CA would ever go for it
I love that most people think they are a myth, and that discovering them and sharing that knowledge with people can mean you get burned at the stake. That's why skaven should be handled with care in the lore. Don't ever let them take over the surface unless one every thousand years. They are in part great because they are largely viewed as a myth (again).

These are some cool Skaven stories. The last one sounded like a classic horror story people tell during Halloween. The first Daemons of Chaos army book also had some cool stories.
I find it hilarious that Nagash is the only one that made the Skaven race put aside all of their scheming and differences to try stop him with everything they got especially when they work together to make the Fellblade and assisted Alcadizaar the Conqueror whom they gave the said weapon to him to take the Great Necromancer down.
I'll admit, the rat transformation inflation story caught me off guard. Pretty sure that one was closer to the plot of the webcomic Out-of-Placers than any actual Warhammer canon. Great video though!
"Steeling themselves, the pitiful remnants of the city's once proud populace descended. In the ancient halls of kingship they found the Dwarfs, now naught but gnawed bones and scraps of cloth. And there they saw by the dying light of their torches the myriad eyes about them, glittering like liquid midnight as the rats closed in for the kill. The manlings stood back to back and fought for their lives, but against such implacable ferocity and countless numbers of the verminous horde, their weapons were useless. The tide of monstrous rats flowed over them one by one, dragging them down to be torn apart, the yellow chisel-teeth sinking into their soft-flesh, the dark-furred mass drowning their pitiful screams with their hideous chittering..." - The Doom of Kavzar or Curse of the Thirteen

How immeasurably worse then is the foul Skaven - standing on its hind legs in a foul parody of a human. Rats as tall as man, and blessed with the vilest intellect and cunning. They are the dark side of our souls, come to destroy us for our sins."

Shreek sharp tail Shreek had come a long way since his birth in the warpstone desert all those years ago. He had been small, one of the smallest of his litter and had been considered for nothing more than a life of slavery or even simply eaten as that way he would provide the most benefit to the clan. Yet somehow he survived. Shreek became one of the clan's many Night runners and he was known to squeal and run away at the first sign of danger. Hence whence he got his name. Yet still, he persisted, often being one of only a handful of survivors from the most dangerous missions. With this supposed veterancy he was promoted to gutter runner. It was here that Shreeks true talents were finally revealed not a talent for courage or outright combat, but a talent for murder, pain and inflicting lethal suffering upon his enemies he had a cruel and twisted imagination in the methodology of murder, and thus was made a full assassin of Clan Eshen. Now it was his and the clan's enemies that would shreek, the last thing they ever did. Shreek crept towards the man thing building, his normally galloping heart slowed and his mind cleared using the techniques he had learnt in the warpstone desert. He was here to slay, kill a man thing who came here to make, barter deal with other man things. The reasons mattered not what was important is that they must die die. With a quick flick of his weeping blade he slit the throat of the first man thing, relieving himself outside. Shreek clambered over the dead man things body and scuttled up the drainpipe. He scurried across the roof and squeezed his nimble body into the chimney. As his slender form slipped down the chimney he could hear the man things voices. By their smell, there were six of them. Shreek pulled from his belt a small bottle filled with a green powder stopped with a cork. As his black soot covered form emerged from the fireplace he threw into the room the small bottle which exploded greeting a noxious and irritating puff of green smoke. The man things in the room started choking, coughing, sputtering and streaming from their eyes. They dropped their weapons as they doubled over in pain and confusion. Shreek emerged from the green mist drawing one of his favorite murder devices one he had had much practice with in the far east, a three-pointed shuriken. It soared through the air neatly decapitating one of the coughing manthings. Leaping in the air, with two quick slashes from each blade another two-man things hit the floor. Their own hearts furiously pumping the blood from their gaping neck wounds. Shreech leaned back thrashing with his tail, the tip of which had been replaced by a sharp spike which stuck into the eye of the last of the guards. Shreek then turned to the last of the man things, he was tall and well dressed in fine silks and furs, he was the one who was here to barter deal, he was Shreeks target. Just as Shreek was about to end his life a shadowy figure emerged from the corner and ran the man threw with her long wicked curved blade. Dressed all in black she was a pale she elf with show white hair the ends of which were blood red. Shreek howled in anger as the pointy ear, simply smiled at him diving through the open window at the back of the room and fleeing into the night. As she went Screech could hear her high pitched cackling laugh float back to him on the cool night breeze.
Shreeks eyes narrowed and his eyes grew dark in utter fury. How dare she steal, take his kill, kill. Shreek sharp tail would have his revenge.

Was the Great Horned Rat always a minor Chaos god, or did they just make that change for The End Times?
