John Scofield helps me out from time to time with my blog. I guess he likes it. I asked him to do an interview for my Poolguitarblog and was happy that he found the time. Before the concert in Lantaren Venster in Rotterdam on March 17 2013 we spoke for about half an hour about his career in general, the business side off it, different projects, management, marketing, Mike Stern, Miles, Billy Cobham, teaching, rhythm, harmony, apps, etc.
Lights out lol What an inspiration Sco is! True to the jazz philosophy, very spontaneous and genuine
It's great to see how John's style massively changed from the 70s to 80s.
Than you for a wonderfull interview !!! GREAT
Cool interview man, thanks for uploading. I totally discovered John through UA-cam and it changed my direction in guitar playing towards jazz. His 'A Go-go' album is my favourite. I'd love to see him live or attend a workshop. Maybe one day. Cheers for now!
Love this guys playing & what a cool straight down the line chat, no bs!!! Met him a couple of times & he was just the same...
It's called Sco-me-la-me-ding-dong. I wrote and recorded it for John.
He refers to the "Modes of limited transposition" compiled by the french composer Olivier Messiaen.
You lucky man, Sco is too cool- and you got to meet him! Also you did a good job.
Nice one. I think the lights going out is a first for jazz interviews!
Just one correction: Nelson Veras is brazilian. Thanks for uploading this. Cheers.
yep!
I know. He works and lives in France.
