Bond in the sources say he wasnt a psychopath to begin with. he was simply bound by curiosity of the unknown. like any scientist he went this route. unlike most scientists, he pursued this above the humanity of others. he saw the value of what cannot be seen with a naked eye to be much more valuable than what is already there. Later on he realized the Abyss was filled with the latter. Because the sources are somewhat vaque and brief im forced to interject with bias that this is what made Bond the monster that he is.
