Time to upload a new video with a decent resolution, for such a company

I am sure this is on purpose. Realize how many machines and processes are there and imagine other companies trying to copy from all they can see.

I didn't know it had moved to France, its a real shame to loose another British company :(

It’s a shame if it’s moved. My mother worked there from 1982 to 1990. I went to whitefriars Primary school opposite 1983-1987. Brings back memories !

I think its a real shame too. Also for lots of other uk companies that moved to eu. Terry's chocs , green and blacks, hp sauce, [ made in my home town for nearly 200 years ]. cheaper to make people redundant in uk than in holland. also daddies sauce, and I'm sure many many others.

Some of the recent Chinese-made Cotman colors are very strange, especially the Chinese-marked tubes available on Ebay and Amazon. Even the W&N "Artist"-grade I have my doubts about. Now I buy M.Graham, Daniel Smith or DaVinci artist-grade watercolors -- or VanGogh intermediate-grade watercolors.

Factory closed late 2011 with 200 employees losing their jobs - "no room for expansion" said the company, production moved to France. Typicall Britain.

why move to france . is it because its cheaper to make people redundant here instead of in eu . I understand thats what happened with hp sauce in birmingham when they went to holland.

Winsor & Newton should make another factory tour video from their new place in France.

I've no real complaints about their quality and I generally use their student grade Cotman line. Really though, I don't notice that much difference from their higher end materials.

Winsor&Newton: "We're the only manufacturer that makes genuine rose madder oil color"
Michael Harding: "Am I a joke to you?"

Nothing on the tube tells you whether it's student, artist, or professional grade paint.

When a company manage to have their cadmium red being the fastest drying color on the palette, while it is supposed to be one of the slowest by its nature, you know that fine tuning is non existent. They just dropped a random amount of siccative into it. Or when their cerulean blue is so full of thikeners that it is nothing like it is supposed to be, you know that there is something very wrong. And I am talking about their artist grade oil colors here... Overpriced is an understatement here. Shame.

Sorry to hear that. I'm (along with other makers) still on their early French production run with the older labels. With some new label raw umbers. Apart from the now discontinued transparent white, which seemed to be half loose oil, half runny white snot. I haven't had any problems. Not keen on the new tube labels (and their whites in general) so I've mostly given them a miss now.

Defintely no longer the company we knew. No longer british high quality colours. No more commitment to the arts. They moved from UK to Le Mans in France in 2011 and fired 200 long time employees. Just to make a lot of money by selling the winsor and newton factory in Harrow to real estate companies. Terrible loss of knowledge, craftmanship and quality. Lot of colours are now made in France and China (!!) In cheap plastic colour palettes. It's just another anonyme global company now, called Colart. Nothing genuine. Based on this latest change in manufacturing colours, products are completely overpriced. I use now Schmincke colours. A family owned manufacturer based in Germany. Highly commited to provide the best colours for more than 100 years. They offer an excellent range and quality of colours.

Sueton... I came across this by accident searching for info on the series 7 brushes... No wonder they have not replied to my queries and also most likely why they no longer sell the Series 7 Boxed sets...
Have been trying to track one down as a gift and had no luck, been to a couple of art stores and asked specifically and they said they never see them anymore but get asked all the time..
Interesting the date on this video is Feb 29 2012 but they moved in 2011 !
Did they keep the factory here open for a while or was this vid and old one even then?

The factories they use in France used to be Bourgeous and LeFranc. They were decent paints. W&N today still make decent paint.

Alex Hills agree. They are great. Don’t buy the winton one and the ‘hue’ colours. Lefranc et bourgeois paints are very good as well. Rembrandt are good as well. Rublev and Michael Harding are very expensive unfortunately.
