I think it's cause she really respects and listens to the experts in their different fields :) Asking the animal care staff if it was okay with them if she did the treat thing, etc. No "I'm the boss, I'm gonna give them treats if I want to" kind of stuff. It's something I really appreciate about her.
@@matthewowens455 yep, shes the ceo and executive director (i believe thats the titles shes used for herself), but she also has experience at other zoos n stuff in the past, was a certified falconer at one point, as well as an agriculture degree of some sort. so she does have a lot of info abt animals and whatnot, but the animal care staff at alveus have a BUNCH of experience with a whole bunch of different animals and went to school for this stuff too, so she def just highly respects them and knows that they have more info on certain things than her so she trusts their input a lot. but yeah so shes technically the boss lady and owns everything legally, but everyone seems to be very equal and it honestly seems like such a nice dynamic between everyone

Hey.... your pump had a "float switch" on it. It only works when it is pointed upward, with the wire being at the bottom, enough to make a ball touch two contacts at the top of it making it turn on. Also, if you're able to get some sort of big pieces of copper and have them in the pond, that should help with algae. Edit... I see you got it figured out. Might be able to zip tie it onto the side of the pump, to make it continually run. Since it looks like it's not a replaceable switch
I think its cause she taught me empathy towards even insects so when it comes to hurting other living things I just remember barbara wiggling those antennas.
no thats so real. been a fan of her and alveus for a few years now so ive def picked up some phrases and voiced over time 😂 tbf i always did silly voices with pets and stuff, so its just adding onto that
ok thats a nice sump pump and you guys should really read the instructions before you burn up the impeller. that little box on the side is a float if it raises above intake it turns on then shuts off on its own from water level dropping its basically a safety for the pump. stand the pump staright up next time let it run till it shuts off, thats where the second pump comes into play it will get the water level even lower and can pull from a shallower body of water, would be a good idea to dig a specific spot for your pump for cleaning and make it the lowest point of the pond.
Not an expert, but I read somewhere online that you can use hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria and algae using 1.5mL (3%) hydrogen peroxide per 4.5 L water in fish tanks. It's supposedly a safe dose for shrimp (which are very delicate when it comes to minute changes in water parameters), but I'm not sure how safe it would be for the frogs... Could be useful for cleaning if you can catch all the frogs in the water without draining the pool, or for spraying on the rocks after draining. The nice thing about it is that it breaks down within an hour and just becomes pure water and oxygen so it could be covered with a tarp for an hour before refilling. I haven't done extensive research on how good this would be for the upkeep of animal enclosures or frog health though :/
I suggest researching whether a piece of copper in the pond might help reduce algae. I'm not an expert so I suggest some research. I just don't know if that would affect the frogs
That was their initial assumption before meeting them, having had a few months now to get to know the wolves and understand their behaviors, they're confident Awa and Timber won't be aggressive or pose the slightest danger to the keepers. As you can see in this video the pups just hide out on the other side of the enclosure when the humans come in
They can as they have the enclosure split in two. So the wolves are on one side, while they are cleaning this side. It's the way they built it so they wouldn't be in direct contact with the wolves but could still come in to clean, make repairs, deliver enrichment, and such
@@meganwall4405there isn’t a barrier between them in this video. They have just learnt that the wolfdogs are very timid and so feel comfortable going in with them as the wolfdogs just stick to the opposite side of the enclosure. They did build a smaller section to keep them in if they did want to clean while separating themselves from the wolfdogs which can be seen behind them at 18:00
Why don't you just pet the wolf dogs? They were obviously raised by humans and seem confused by the fact that nobody pets them anymore? There are at least 10 channels where much more wolfy looking wolf dogs live in peoples houses. Pet the wolf dogs.
The wolves are FAR from confused/upset about not being pet, and judging by what they have told us about their previous zoo, they weren't given much positive human contact. Those people who bought a wild animal for social media are what Alveus is trying to prevent. You should really watch their other videos on the wolfdogs to see what a horrible idea that is, not for safety but for conservation.
I love how Maya owns Alveus, but she gives fresh intern energy lol
