Great job! one of the best sleeper tube preamps out there, I own two NG51s mine has way more distortion when cranked. I never understood why som many thinks the RE-201 is the shit, when you can get your hands on one of these units for a third of the price. I have had 3 space echos, i would swap for an Echolette in a heartbeat.
I only just heard the sound of an Echolette NG51 for the first time a few months ago, and I thought the preamp was just astounding. It seems so obscure though, that I never thought I’d see anyone do an emulation of it. Kudos.
Ive got an old NG1, but I'm suspecting there's something not right with it. The output seems lower than not running through it, and it's also more dull sounding than the sound examples here. I think it's also going into distorion a little earlier.. any ideas what might be up?
Hey Sam, do you really have a NG-1? Or is it a NG-41 or NG-51? A NG-1 would be an extremely rare device (like „the only one still existing“-rare). I am a collector from Germany and have nearly the whole line-up (NG-2, NG-3, NG-4, NG-41, NG51) and to be able to see a NG-1 would be a dream come true. This guy added a little distortion and reverb to the iPhone camera as well for video format. Adds the vintage and rock and roll vibes immediately.
This thing is AMAZING!! Makes my old 60's Moody BA17 sing, just glorious.
