Much appreciated! And I’d say I agree about the finish. I don’t know why larger companies don’t focus on more natural looking electrics. It honestly would probably drive up costs because most painted guitars are made of panels and not a solid chunk of wood
Your channel just popped up on my algorithm and I've gone through several videos so far. You are incredibly talented and make it look so easy. Beautiful work. I just got my son playing and picked up a telecaster for him so this was a nice coincidence.
Fantastic work dude! As a budding luthier myself I too felt the shock of “well dang building guitars takes a lot of skill” but you’d never know it by how you presented everything. The guitar looks gorgeous and I loved your optimism in taking your setbacks and turning them into opportunities. Also the risk it for the brisket at the end with the inlay is a great touch. Often times it’s under those same types of circumstances that the most beautiful work is created. Hope you’ll keep building and documenting into the future!
It looks and sounds awesome, build more! Lots of builders never go through all the measurements of everything. Maybe you can do that. Looks thin on the entry of video which looks good. Looks thicker latter even near finishing.
Thanks a lot! It was hard to focus on sharing every detail being it was my first one but I definitely plan on doing a full step-by-step series of one soon!
I wish I had the skills to make a guitar. I made a dulcimer from a kit once, but that's about it. My problem is that me and tools don't get along well. I'm not ambitious but tend to use different hands to do different things.
Thanks for the video. I didn't see what finish you used on the list of stuff in the description. Could you please specify what you used? You said Rubio Monocoat, but which one and how was it applied / number coats etc. Thanks.
It’s rubio monocoat pure and I applied it by using a white scotch bright pad. Then wiped the excess away with a paper towel. Rubio monocoat, as the name suggests, only requires one coat if done properly. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I go back and forth now. I made a jig for a bass build where a router does the radius work and it needs to be glued to the neck. I guess means rely on method
the nut slot on my new tele neck is way too narrow, about 1mm. I’m thinking to wrap up my fretboard radius gauge with sand paper to widen the gap, a sound plan to you or theres other easier/safer way to do this please? many thanks
Love the videos man, makes me feel like I could actually do it, and it makes screwing things up while learning seem less daunting. Definitely the dream to someday build my own guitar and play it "well". Been working on learning guitar this year, probably start branching into woodworking in the coming few years hopefully. Now that I'm heading towards my late 30's and finally broke myself physically, hobbies like these are very appealing and exciting. Things I sort of put in my back pocket for when I'm older and can no longer participate in extreme sports and adventure activities, well sometimes you make mistakes and have to hang it up sooner than expected lol.
Mistakes are a common part of everything. What’s important is limiting yourself to non-injury mistakes. Woodworking / guitar making is no different. I’m happy you enjoyed the video and hope you get to experience making your own guitar soon!
It really depends on how you plan on building it! There are people who just use basic hand tools, sand paper, elbow grease and take a long time to build. Others who are more impatient, like myself, choose the multiple power tools option. Are you looking for a specific workaround at a certain part of the build?
Very nice guitar. Beautiful maple. On my glossy screen, your finish looks glossy too of course, but is it really a gloss finish? As far as I know, Rubio is very matt. Why did you make the trussrod nut accessible on the side of the headstock?
It’s definitely matte! I plan on adding the new Rubio sheen enhancer to it though. Since it was my first guitar build, I made a lot of mistakes on where I put things and how I tackled problems. One of these things was the truss accessibility. I would definitely do it different next time.
This looks real good. I see the Fender noiseless pickups and tried to find what sort of switch you used. If it is a 4-Way switch, please do tell where you got the wiring diagram for it.
@@TheWoodenHobbyist Yeh, got the 3-Way and it's working. Tried to put a 4-Way switch and there is no valid wiring diagram for that with GEN 4 or the Ultra Noiseless. If you ever decide you want a 4-Way switch there, first try to find a wiring diagram, 'cos not even Fender Support could provide one ;) Keep it going mate. That is one good looking guitar. Would love to see you do anotherone.
Hope you earn that reputation to gain hungry customer for top dollar quality guitars amazing work i will pay top dollar without being there in person i just go by the details a person gives out and from there im not taking my chances because im confident enough what that person is doing and saying lol
Nice guitar dude, but remove the hardware before finishing, never shield the guitar before finishing and routing the cavities before final shaping is easier
@@TheWoodenHobbyist removing string ferrules is better for applying the fininsh, and if you put some finish on the shielding it won't work properly, and you need to shield once again. For the cavities it's better to have a good stability so a nice wood block is more stable than bench cookies

@@TheWoodenHobbyist you showed us how to rent shop space, build a tele with hand tools and how to buy one from guitar center in a video you labeled " how to make a telecaster from scratch"?....or are you being disingenuous in the comments?
Nope. I provided you other options. At no point to I elude to not having tools necessary, this is how I build guitars, if you don’t like it, move on to someone who does it the way you like.
Man. That came out so clean. I want to make a telelike guitar one day. My dream guitar for sure. What do you think would be the bare minimum set of tools to get a guitar build done?
Thanks a lot! And I’m unsure. Depends on skill level I guess. I’ve watched videos where guitars were built with just a few hand tools but the process likely took months, if not a year. It’s a hard question to answer because there’s quite a few ways to go about building. If you have a router table, a jigsaw, and a drill press…you could get most of it done with a full set of templates…if you purchase your wood pre milled. I’ll have template kits available on my website soon!
One of the best guitars T style guitars I've seen. I think a lot more people like a natural finish than the large companies think.
Much appreciated! And I’d say I agree about the finish. I don’t know why larger companies don’t focus on more natural looking electrics. It honestly would probably drive up costs because most painted guitars are made of panels and not a solid chunk of wood

For the first time in life i like a tele. Those waves in the wood and the perfect match of hardware colour. Very sexy work.
Thanks!
@@TheWoodenHobbyist I've kinda made a couple adjustments to my guitar wishlist. is that alright?
The Rubio finish was the right choice. Turned out beautiful.
Thanks! Once it cured I buffed it with paste wax and it bumped the sheen up a little bit
I am happy and excited every time I see anyone. Built a guitar and played it himself And I like making guitars too.
Awesome!
Love the look of the rubio monocoat and the gold hardware. What a gem!
Yeah it seemed to work out well together. Rubio sheen plus definitely moved it up to the satin
this video deserves a few million more views

O natural da madeira é muito melhor que qualquer tipo de tinta... essa guitarra ficou perfeita.

What is the radius of milling machines? For the neck
Telecasters are subjectively best with a radius of 7.5 to 9.5 inches
Fantastic video and even better playing technique,Well done !!!

beautiful guitar and playing, hope one day i’ll be able to craft a guitar or play that good

I think that would work just fine, taking off little bits at a time and check fit. A sharp chisel could do the trick as well.
