In chapter 82, Makima says this to Denji:
"Any happiness or normality you experience from this point on?
I will be the one to create and destroy it all.
If you overcome your grief and make friends,
I'll kill them immediately.
If you get married and start a family,
I won't allow your wife and children to live long."
It seems like in a way, this did end up being right. Control (Nayuta) did create happiness for Denji, and now it's been taken from him. I mean even the dogs were once Makima's. So yeah, it seems that Denji is forever doomed to get a little bit of happiness back, just to lose it all over again.

@Infinitetreee stfu. stop acting like he is at gunpoint to make these chapters. he became a mangaka out of his own interest and has to live up to those standards. that's how Japanese culture works. He is an adult who loves what he's doing so there is no need to feel " pity " for him.
The flashback of Nayuta and Denji in part 1 was able to give greater insight into Nayuta’s perspective and how she differed from makima, so it was very impactful.
Denji’s younger self appearing to him in a dream to oppose the idea of Denji having a family by bringing up his murder of his dad was chilling and I like how that huge reveal in part 1 was used to create further conflict for Denji.
still donno if denji actually killed his dad and framed it somehow or makima just gaslighted him that hard

It's been funny seeing all the theories about who people think the death devil is. Off the top of my head, I've seen people say Yoshida, Kobeni, Pochita, Fumiko, Fami, and Falling devil were the death devil at some point. I myself think it's gonna be it's own character that we haven't met yet.
I find it VERY convincing that Pochita might actually be the Death Devil. How in the fuck a "chainsaw" devil can erase other devils from existence and be as powerful as he is when the fear of chainsaws isn't really a big fear.
I've never thought of this before and will be fucking lying on the floor if this ends up being true. Sounds like a thing Fujimoto would do ngl.
I think this chapter showcases what's so special about Denji. He's able to humanise even the most despicable devils as long as they're willing to live with him for a time. We've seen how Nayuta was just like any other devils when she first met Denji, but over time, she began to develop genuine affection towards him, and more or less acted like humans do (prioritising school, was hesitant to use her powers to help Denji as he was getting lynched).
Man, the recent chapters have been absolutely thrilling.
Its such a narrative treat that Denji pondered and fought tooth and nail over what was the right path to take to only not have it matter at the end. I really hope Nayuta is okay but you never know with this author.
It's nice to have hilarious shenanigans, funny dialogues or intense sequences but it's always the emotional beats that evoke some of Fujimoto's best storytelling prowess and this chapter was not messing about in that department. I mean, just the fact that he was able to add more layers to Denji & Nayuta's already tight relationship whilst simultaneously ending their current story arc in a neat but dreary manner is great
I doubt we'll be seeing them together for a while or atleast that's my head canon but the way this chapter ended, it's very likely we might get a time-skip or an event-skip situation or something like that. It'll be a nice change of pace that's for sure 🤞

To be fair, what Nayuta means by the old me is makima.
So the title actually isn’t evidence for her not being evil. That being said, she’s definitely not evil.
Even long after she's gone the mark Makima left on the world (especially Denji's) is still felt in every step. It's crazy how impactful she continues being and it almost lead to Denji losing his happiness again through Nayuta. Really excited to see how both her and Denji will develop further (hopefully in a good direction)

fr, the most fujimoto chapter ever, absolute masterpiece, reminds me why I love him so much
I read this chapter yesterday and it was really interesting. The crowd was ready to off Nayuta and the only voice of reason in the crowd gets ignored thanks to Barem lying about being “controlled.” They go after Nayuta again in all the confusion. Then we get a look into the beginning of Denji and Nayuta’s life together. It was sad cuz not only did she remember Makima but she wanted to continue being like her and just use Denji. Later we see Denji waking up in the hospital remembering his past trauma and his young self claiming he didn’t deserve to have a family considering he ended his father’s life.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the chapter.
What's even more heartfelt about it is that despite Nayuta knowing Makima's objectives, she was still able to warm up to Denji. She was able to have someone to care for her and vice versa. And that deep down, that's what Makima wanted, what the control devil wanted
@@apostleofninomaeinais3578 I'd like to think that Nayuta had simply forgotten all about her original plans thanks to Denji's own sincerity in preventing her to be the next Makima. And yes, that's exactly what the control devil had always yearned for, like what Pochita said. Beautiful chapter.

The Old Me chapter is not about Makima, it's about Nauta before she fell for Denji's love. It's easy to miss. The flashbacks are also very sneaky because Denji's nightmare started on the same page when camera was in focus on the tree.

Fujimoto always brings you back or down to the world his characters live in. He is so good at building an atmosphere and a world just by mere storytelling. no crazy reveals, plottwists, or crazy events... just reminding you where we are

I think the reason why Fumiko left them for dead was probably because denji transformed which would go against what Yoshida wants so i guess she believed Nayuta would save denji and then nayuta dies due to the mob and that would fulfill the consequences of what Yoshida told Denji

Natalia was able to control the guy that saved Dennis long enough to make it to the hospital. It makes me think maybe she was able to deal with the mob, or probably just that a hospital was somewhere nearby. It's a minor detail honestly.
It was really nice seeing those early days with Nayuta and Denji plus Barem plz unalive yourself quickly 🙏 Also that last panel of Denji waking up in the hospital got me thinking he was in a coma and it was all a dream lul jk

One uncomfortable truth I don't think anyone has directly addressed is the fact Denji's desire to "be Chainsaw Man" isn't actually his dream and it never was, it was Makima's dream for him to become Chainsaw Man, and he's only chasing it because all direction and purpose he found in his life was derived from her.
I don't think that's necessarily true, being chainsaw man implies multiple things, not just fighting devils
I don't think that the fact that it was Makima's dream is why Denji is still chasing this. I think Denji is chasing being Chainsawman because it's what he feels people love. Denji is very focused on being loved by others, particularly women, but in general. He wants to be appreciated, and he sees Chainsawman as a way to get that. He also just enjoys it in general. Look at him once he loses it and starts slicing and dicing the other Hybrids. He's in his element in the chaos of the fight. Without it, he doesn't really have much going for him. Denji, for all that he isn't the smartest, is somewhat self-aware even if he acts ignorant. Without Chainsawman, he'd be nobody of importance, just some under educated loser. His identity, is wrapped up in being Chainsawman. In his own head, without it, he's nothing. The reason why he fell into depression when Yoshida told him to not be Chainsawman anymore or else is because of this. He was being forced to chose between his life with Nayuta, and his life as Chainsawman, which he has put a significant amount of stock in.

THEORY : Nayuta isn't actually evil, the transition betwin the flashback and Denji as a child seems a little to suden to me. I think he's dreaming of Nayuta becoming like Makima because, as his child self says, he don't think he's capable of having a family, so he thinks Nayuta will turn out like Makima and break this family he built (+ Makima traumatised him, so he might imagine what happened to him starting over). I feel like this "flashback" might just be Denji's perspective.

This means that some tragedy will happen that will make Denji not want to be chainsaw man anymore.
My theory is Power and the rest of the devils comming back and hopefully team up with Denji 🙏

Actually, this the first Time in a long Time that I feel not confused within csm because now it is clear Fujimoto did not lose the plot.
The last handfull of chapters actually were so connected and so much into extending that moment like one big scene cut within many chapters that we were not fully satisfied. I get What Fujimoto was doing, I m sure it is going to be great and make more sens within the anime but as a manga I think this was Fujimoto s worst pacing.
Now this chapter is one story on its own, we re back to Peak guys.

@Infinitetreee I disagree, Fujimoto is such a master at pacing that you te able to enjoy thé expérience in weekly format. The begening of csm part 2 hooked me every single week or two weeks because the chapter was itself a story with a begening and a conclusion leaving with some more onto the table for the futur of the story. True the latest chapters are more of a bing expérience.
