I have just discussed this with my colleges recently I notice majority of them does not have a basic understanding of credit card and some even think credit hard is a strong "NO" But after explaining to them, they somehow got the idea of the importance of building credits with credit card I will send them this video for further understanding on this Perhaps we don't treat credit card as our parents used to
I am owning 5 credit cards from different banks. the reason i apply them is because simply of their benefits, such as cashbacks, complimentary lounge access, etc. I pay up all my credit card bills every month on the dot, so I think it is good to use credit cards to your benefit if you are well disciplined in your financial planning.
Good info especially about ctos and agree with the benefits of credit card, but disagree about only having one credit card in all my years of experience. It's like putting all your eggs in one basket. If the bank's line is down or if the credit card is rejected for unknown reason by the merchant, the card will be unusable at point of transaction. So having another backup card is preferable, especially when there's a transaction dispute with merchant due to fraud or card is stolen or lost or damaged. Different cards provide variety of discounts from different merchants. Also if one is a frequent traveller overseas, preference of foreign merchants is to accept international bank credit card such as HSBC or standard chartered. Best to apply for cards without annual fees permanently, or else it will just eat up the card's benefits and it's like giving back money to the bank. The bank is already earning from each card transaction. I also dedicate one card for online transaction only as they are more susceptible to fraud and double charges due to network problems, and if I am unhappy with the outcome of dispute or with the service of the bank, I can always terminate the card and have a backup for offline transaction. A deadly combo is to use one card for both online and offline transactions, as using two separate cards make it easier to track the type of transactions without going through one long lengthy statement. Bottom line is, if one lacks financial discipline one can still blow up one's finances and still end up in debt whether using debit card e-wallet or cold cash. All this happened before even when credit cards were not widely used in Malaysia in the 80s
You are right! I did said having 1 credit card "as a start" wouldnt hurt - mainly to encourage people to start having it, then only think about the additional perks of having 2nd or 3rd credit card! But greatly appreciate it for sharing your tips!
Depends on how you look at it If BNPL at 0% interest rate, and you know that you don't need that much credit limit for the entire repayment period, then why not. If instalment with interest rate, personally not a fan of it. I personally will use credit card to pay full on day 1 as I prefer to have my credit limit available at any given time :)
@@ZietInvests okay understood. so if I never have a credit card, want to have a good credit score for at least a year or two, will it be a good idea to start with buying a device and split it into a year or two? and I think Maybank is widely accept for that right? Do you have any suggestion for any Maybank card to start with? Mostly my spending is on everyday living - I don't travel oversea, very rarely use flight or hotel.
Imagine if I were able to develop a mobile app to track my expenses via the credit cards, shows the amount of cashback that I'll be receiving later. I know they probably have done it, but dis one more towards on my own needs.
Ahhh they wouldn't show you immediately because they need to wait for the billing cycle to finish in order to compute that cashback 😂 it's just like how banks wont show you the benefit of putting more money into your flexi account to reduce interest haha (done on purpose)
Hey Ziet, As usual great content. I would like to check with you on this "Can we pay home loan or car loan using credit card ? Does any malaysian bank or non malaysian bank based in Malaysia provides this facility ?"
Hi Milan, I don't think that's possible though because mortgage financing is usually a separate credit line. Suggest to ask your banker incase there's any new financial products that I may have missed. You do, however have to choice to turn your credit card's credit into cash, but that usually comes at a small fee (like a personal loan like that) but they call it Cash Advance
Not an expert by any means but I'm pretty sure the answer is NO. What you are suggesting is spending on the same thing using 2 "layers" of credit. Could work if people always pay on time but unfortunately many do not, so things could get really ugly. Our banking system is not set up to accommodate that kind of risk.
@@ZietInvests Well, not sure if you're aware, in US, they do have this option available, so I'm just trying to explore similar options here in Malaysia. Thank you for your prompt response.
You can check the regulations in both your home country and the country you're working in. For freelance work, platforms like Wise can help with receiving payments globally.
I would recommend you Bank Rakyat Platinum Explorer Credit Card. First it is a Islamic Credit Card, which I think suits you much. Secondly you get 5% cashback for airlines and hotel bookings. Third, you have 3 times complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounge. Fourth, There is no extra fee for oversea transaction. And lastly and the most important is there is NO ANNUAL FEE.
Cooler if I use Google pay. Just tap your phone 😂 I prefer E-wallet to pay, topup via credit card. Unless i want to spend under category grocery. Can you teach us how to do #financialengineering double dip to get maximum benefit and profit?
@@ZietInvests apple pay also got. yes, get cashback from a credit card + points from e-wallet. like when I pay for Starbucks, I have to think about which credit card to use, which e-wallet to reload, and which reward card to use. I know its complicated oh by the way boss, I want to apply for more credit cards to get more cashback, of course. but I read if we apply for many credit cards in a short period of time, it will hurt our credit score. is that true?

Not everyone should own a credit card. If you are not financially prudent, and not discipline/strict with your finance, you should never own a credit card. Only a minority are able to own a credit card. I paid my CC debt on-time without fail.
Yes and no, Yes - misuse of credit card can lead to lots of financial disaster, but same goes to any financial product out there No - if not abused, credit card simply brings all Pros with no Cons!
