    There has certainly been spirited discussion about the part of the video mentioning the beginning of matter and energy as coming from a "Big Bang". I understand that frustration. How could space, matter and energy seemingly come from "nothing"? It is easy to skip the answer by simply referring to the beginning of the universe, matter and energy as coming from a God's will. That, however, simply postpones the question of the origin of Chemistry. Where did God come from? Simply claiming He/She/It is "infinite" or "always was", is not a suitable answer. Logic alone demands that there had to be a beginning to everything ... even to a God (or the universe). Infinity is just not something we can conceptualize.
    FYI, there are at least nine major proofs that the Big Bang occurred, representing dozens of major scientific experiments. I would wager that the U.S. alone has spent over 2 billion dollars trying to prove, or disprove the theory. Remember that the toughest audience any theory can have, is other scientists. They love to prove each other wrong. In the face of withering theological, scientific and logical challenges, the Big Bang Theory has withstood that test of evidence. It is because of the unassailable evidence that it is taught in almost every university on Earth and virtually every science or natural history museum. It is because of that evidence that I have included it in this video.
    If you wish to learn of the proofs of its existence, simply google it.
    Anyway, I realize this is a possible forum for debating the existence of God or the Big Bang as the origin of the universe, but I really wanted this video to get teenagers excited about the subject of Chemistry, and it certainly has done that. Please use other forums for tackling the much bigger questions of the origins of all things. Thanks.

      +Frank Gregorio Asking where God comes from does not solve our issue because I can then ask you who created the being that Created God to create universe? And what's you answer that I can ask you again who created the being that created the being that created God to make the universe? and the cycle would keep going on and on. Simple truth is that whether God or not there was something beyond a beginning that began it all.

      +AyoBonito116 To ask who created God doesnt make sense. He isnt God if he was created. God is not a material he does not need creation.

      You err in your understanding of God; the reason God does not require a beginning or creation point is because he's not a creation like me, you and everything in the universe. It's not a dodge to say God is eternal and always has been. It makes more sense that someone has always been versus something cause again all the physical things require creation. (Probably wiuld be more accurate to say we cannot cteate or destroy matter; but God the Creator can) God is not something that you understand with just natural scientific methods. To really grasps God you need to pray and seek Him in spirit and in truth. I wont drag on to much longer but in short understand spiritual things via prayer and leading from the spirit (If truely hearing and following God the natural should confirm the spiritual), and understand the natural world via the usual scientific methods (Though if you seek God on a scientific question he will either lead you to the answer if its available already or possibly respond to you in dreams).

      This was meant for someone else's comment, but I figured I'd use it in response to your all too common notion that there had to have been a beginning or start point somewhere in time:" The deity that you're referring to, is God. Your Maker. Now then, if we were to ask this question - who created God? We would then have to ask, well then who created God before him and so on and so forth. It would be an endless trail of who created who. Do you understand? That alone is just a mere representation that God, our father is an eternity. There is no beginning and no end. The Big Bang theory is a "theory" that man created to prove God does not exist. Not to get off topic but take a look at the moon. We only see one side of it, and it stays in perfect orbit around the earth. So perfect that had it been off by just a little, this earth would not be what it is today. That my friend is not by chance."

    I teach middle school science and I am a Christian and this video I have used for the past few years and it makes me tear up every time I use it with my kids (maybe it is the music that accompanies). I tell the kids that this video reminds me how incredible "the creation of matter" really is! Thank you for producing a video that not only inspires students about Chemistry but teachers who need, at times, a little reminder there is a greater power still in charge of "all this"!

    If energy can't be created or destroyed, that defeats the idea that before the big bang, energy didn't exist.

      no, there is a theory that says that for every positive energy in our universe there is an equal negative one, so all of the energy in our universe combined gives us 0. So no law is broken

    Saying that energy/matter, or space didn't exist before the big bang is a bold statement to make, as we simply do not know. The furthest we can look back in time to the big bang is to the ~ 10^-32 second, anything before that are just assumptions that we don't have the resources to test here on Earth.

    I find it amusing for all who cannot grasp the concept of something being created out of nothingness. Many of you have little problem embracing the notion that a deity in your own image created all that we know; you refuse to ask the logical next question - who created this deity?

    • @m.castro6314
      @m.castro6314 8 років тому +1

      The deity that you're referring to, is God. Your Maker. Now then, if we were to ask this question - who created God? • @smileysmultimedia
      @smileysmultimedia 8 років тому

      People do ask that question; the problem isnt the ability to ask the question; the problem is atheists and some agnostics refusal to accept the answer. God answered Moses "I am that I am". Yes meaning he's eternal, he has no beginning and has no end. Understandable that's a hard concept for some to grasp when we as created beings are finite and everything we physically observe is finite.
      God doesn't fit in that finite box because he's not a physical created being, He's a eternal spirit; the same kind of spirit that every man, woman and child has. Our bodies will pass away but our spiritual man will live on in eternity when God calls us.

    Anyone invoking "God" is not a science person or even an well educated person. Man invented "God" of the Christians just as he invented more than 6000 other gods to explain all the gaps in knowledge (originally, almost 100%). As knowledge has grown deities are only "gods of the gaps" in knowledge. Time to intellectually grow up. Thank you Mr. Gregorio for an excellent production of science!

    So if there was nothing then how did big bang occurred? Nothing physical could create big bang, because there was nothing.
    And if there was nothing then creator of our world is eternal being which means there is god.
    Atheism is based on logic, but yet dismiss a basic logic which they religion is based on.

THATS more credible???? i have several degrees and you obviously have little understanding of what LOGIC means., by the way, atheism is a religion like baldness is a hair color!!. I teach science and chemistry, and i never fail to be surprised by the close minded self delusional powers of people who lack the strength to take responsibility for their existence without invoking some NEVER evidenced deity. Humans have worshiped more than 2000 deities during their existence, aren't you lucky you were born into a family that indoctrinated you into being devoted to just the right one, whilst all the others are wrong in their beliefs. In fact, i only worship one less deity than you do. What a shame that humans have done so much harm to each other in their futile arguments as to who has the best imaginary friend.

      Believing in an eternal being with no evidence that one exists is not logical my friend.

      Atheism isn't a religion dumb shit. Religion means one worships a god or many gods. Atheists don't believe in a god, only themselves and what they can physically observe around them.

      Tony Gonzales Actually atheism is a religion. Religion has many branches
      Atheist: Believe in no God(s), LeVay Satanism is an athestic religion
      Agnostic: Do not believe nor disbelieve in a God(s), Buddhism is an agnostic religion
      Deist: Believe in a creator God who does not interfere
      Theist: Believe in one God
      Paganist: Believe in many, Gods

      Actually victorialynn, theists don't necessarily believe in just one God, that's monotheism. More accurately, they acknowledge that there exists a god or several And paganism is not defined by worshipping many gods (though they usually do), but by being a folk, ethnic or otherwise non-Abrahamic religion.

      O-MegaTechno™ I dont understand people who love chemistry. I hate it so so much. Perhaps you can make me love chemistry by explaining your reason of loving it?

      Blacky the frozen flame It is really important, it is a base of the world, all around us is chemistry.
      It is ok if you hate it.

      O-MegaTechno™ Without chemistry you wouldn't be alive, humans wouldn't probably exist since our life started with a single cell with chemical reactions. Life wouldn't work without chemistry. A thing you probably hate shapes or world and makes possible life as we know it( there are other factors into play but)

    To be that UA-cam comment: Starting with "Before the birth of our Universe..." is a bit odd since not only time matter and energy come into existence at the moment of the Big Bang, but so did time. So it's a bit odd to say something like "before time existed." It's nonsensical.
