- A CNN panel gets heated over the difference between freedom of speech and human decency after President Trump retweeted a video of a CNN reporter being heckled at a Trump rally.
It's no longer about whether Trump has any decency, it's about if we do.

Can we make a distinction here please. CNN does not work for the people. They are a private company with no obligation to the American people. They weren't elected. They do not have the power to make laws or policy. Their only job is to report the news.

I am a Swede and it seems to me i actually understand your own rights better then this panel does. For example heckling is protected by the first amendment while threatening is not. Are the people at CNN this uneducated on the actual laws within their own country, now that is scary.

Uncomfortable and unsafe are not the same. Symone seemed to be the only one at the table that understood that. A lot of white people think that feeling UNCOMFORTABLE around black and brown people because of their personal prejudices equals them being UNSAFE and they feel entitled to interchange those definitions. I.E Calling the police on a black person because you feel uncomfortable with them in the same area as you and telling the cops you feel "unsafe" when there is no valid reason to feel that way. Being UNCOMFORTABLE because you are being questioned and called out while eating dinner is not the same as feeling UNSAFE because someone is threatening you/using violent language. I imagine that the children locked in cages feel both unsafe and uncomfortable so I don't give a shit about a politician being able to eat his dinner in peace. Call for delivery.
And standing in front of a crowd of people (they've been calling bigots for the last three years) as they shout non-threatening remarks at you is not an "unsafe" situation either. Uncomfortable, sure; but not unsafe. Also, no one threatened or used "violent language" (whatever that is) toward crybaby-Acosta.

Public officials, (in this case McConnell) work for the people and per the first ammendment of The Constitution the people have a right to peaceably assemble (protest). McConnell may not like having to answer the grievances of the people he represents, but they certainly have a right to address him.They write the check that pays the cost of his dinner at whatever restaurant he attends. The President is inciting violence against the press at his rallies and calling them out for doing their jobs, but the first ammendment also protects the freedom of the press. The press is not the enemy of the people. The press keeps our officials honest by seeking out the facts and shining a light on their words, deeds and/or misdeeds. Any repression of the press is an attempt to prohibit the truth from going forward. Reporting isn't "fake" because the President doesn't like it. We have to protect our fourth estate.
