I got sucked into KjV-onlyism back in 2015, and stayed in it until this past year. James White was the instrument God used to show me my error. Thank you!
Most people would have started daydreaming and tuned out by now, including myself. Dr. White is such a God-gifted communicator that I have been thoroughly engaged this whole time.
Dr. White is right on. Every church needs to be teaching about the historicity of the Bible, how we came to have translations, original texts, manuscript copies etc. Society at all levels is now out to deceive and undermine Truth. Apologetics is essential to defense of Truth in the marketplace of ideas.
Growing up I looked up to Michael Jordan, David Robinson, Michael Johnson and other athletes... Now that I am grown up I look up to Dr. White, Dr. Michael Brown, and Jacob Prasch. These guys make me want to pick up my Bible and become a real man.
+Clinton Post Jacob does not stand for the King James - he always reads from the New American Standard version- you should listen to his teachings properly without giving false opinions
Listening to White, Brown and Prasch is like watching Satans army do their job. Let no man deceive you. More manuscripts means more confusion. Watch - New World Order Bible versions
Thank you Jeff, for allowing Dr. White to teach on the transmission of the text of Scripture. This broadcast was very informative and received outstanding teaching as always from Dr. White. Hope you and James keep teaching together, cause I love when you both share your knowledge of God's Word. God bless!
Dr. White basically gave us our modern day reformation conflict in apologetics in this conversation. I believe he has taken on the correct position and God has raised him up, specifically, to address these issues given the state of attacks against Christianity. Luther would not recant after being called upon to. We have to have our eyes open to the manuscript conflicts in order to provide "an answer" to the nay sayer. Great video. Praying for both reformed Baptists and the Presbyterian soldiers. Soli Dei Gloria.
I freaking LOVE James White...he’s my scripturely knight in shining armor, brandishing the sword of the Spirit and trampling down his enemies like Bart Ehrman, Shabir Ali, Trent Horn, and GAIL RIPLINGLER....well, that one wasn’t much of a contest, because Gail couldn’t hold a candle...but you get the idea. His knowledge and education is rational, logical, and cutting edge. Thanks for this excellent video.
As Dr White says, "Certainty comes from studying the truth." Sounds like Paul, 2Ti 2:15 "Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision."
I was KJVO of the worst sort for over 15 years. I was ordained under a ministry of Peter Ruckman himself. James Whites dividing line led me out of that Cultic position to the truth.
@Bronze Getting saved is just the beginning of our walk with Jesus. Reading the Bible (particularly the KJV) regularly grounds us in our faith and facilitates our growth to spiritual maturity. People reading the KJV tend to be more conservative in their world view, wheras the other versions facilitate a more liberal world view (softer stance on homosexuality, etc.) The more liberal we get, the more worldly which is unfortunately the opposite of Godly. Hope this makes sense.
i'm so glad i found this. thank you! i will be buying Dr.White's book in order to learn more. While watching this, i had the idea to make an illustrated video that could go along with the audio from this video. Sorta how The Bible Project has illustrated the Bible in order to help people follow along with the story & the concepts. I don't even know how to begin something like that though. Anyway, good job. Don't shy away from getting into the nitty gritty details. The details are very beneficial to know. Truth is truth, and if we are saying we believe this is the word of God, then we have nothing to fear. :)
I think the ultimate goal of understanding the word of God is knowing how well he has preserved his word despite different language translations. KJV is fine for me. I also like the Nkjv and I dont see why there is such controversy from preachers like Steven Anderson, when we are RIGHTLY DIVIDING the bible. Learning about its history is just that more enriching to the true believer.
Say no more Dr. white, you had me at textual criticism and beards lol. In all seriousness, you guys do amazing work at your church and thank you for your ministry
Sad how many people hate on Dr. James White and don't even understand the point here. He's arguing that using only ONE version of the "English Translated Bible" (KJV) is not the best approach when the topic is, PROVING the INERRANCY of SCRIPTURE! He's NOT saying the KJV or NKJV shouldn't be used. He is simply saying, if you're going to defend the Word against the reprobates, KJV Onlyism is a losing tactic.
I didn't catch that he said you should be using ANY English translated Bible. It was a month ago or so I watched though, so I could be wrong. Though I understood his point in general to be that we need to study the oldest/most reliable manuscripts and ascertain God's Word from that. What I heard in regard to any single script or translation being used is how 'illogical' it would be to believe any single script or translation could possibly be the sum total of God's Inspired Word. I understand the argument and certainly would acknowledge the possibility, I just disagree that is what God meant by His promise to preserve his Word. Therefore, probability means nothing to me in the face of knowing God's ability to perform a miracle counter to logic, our knowledge or understanding. Oh, and the Bible doesn't tell us we need to prove anything to anyone, just tell them the truth of His Word. At least that's what the KJV says :) Anyway, no hate from me. I just disagree and I do like to have a little fun pointing to hypocrisy when I find it.
WALYS GMC I see what you’re saying but once again this is what a lot of people are misunderstanding. By the way, I use both KJV and NKJV the most out of any other translation currently and love them. The point of his arguments against NKJV and KJV “onlyism” is that if we are going to defend our faith using logic (a God given tool in life) against those who wish to mislead (IE. satan), don’t you think it’s nice to have the counter argument?! Do you not believe God works in mysterious ways and do you honestly believe that no one has come to Jesus or been converted due to White’s ministries? Does it not say IN THE BIBLE that we should should show the opposers the light and in so doing God may grant them faith. I’m not saying the Gospel isn’t the centerpiece in scripture, what I’m saying is sometimes the road to hearing the Gospel is through these types of discussions. I believe God is using Dr. White in incredible ways. But at the end of the day, if you can’t see it that way, you can’t see it that way... God bless!
WALYS GMC as far as ANY English translation, he clearly says that there ARE bad versions out there. So I dont know what you meant by that first statement. But just to reiterate on my last reply. The Word has been through a lot to get to where it is today and I believe that God uses certain “means” to preserve His Word to stand the tests of time. Just like He has always done throughout history, and I think perhaps Dr. White is one of those “means” in being able to prove with sound logic how to defend scripture against scrutiny.
Allow me to clarify a few things first off. I definitely, absolutely, believe that Dr. White is a wonderful, God fearing person who (as I have stated previously) is uniquely gifted by God in a way that glorifies His name. I am very thankful that the Lord has given us men like Dr. White who can clearly and intelligently explain the ‘logic’ that IS God. I believe that gives believers a lot of strength in our convictions and helps break down what could otherwise be barriers to those who are ‘on the cusp’. However, I don’t believe any apologetics do anything for those who are willingly ignorant. So, in that regard, there is only so much concern I have that God and His plan fit into what we determine is ‘logical’. At some point we will, in all things, have to ultimately point to faith and trust in God and you can bet, as soon as we do, we will be attacked by the opposition. My only reason for commenting on Dr. White is to point out, you can’t follow a ‘person’, you need to follow God. He is dogmatic on this topic and I have detected a hypocrisy in his teaching on this one that I think proves that point. Additionally, to clarify my position on the Bible versions, yes I absolutely believe that people have been saved under conviction of the Holy Spirit while studying most versions of the Bible. Also, there are some people I wouldn’t even discuss this topic with. For example, I have an aunt who uses the NIV. She is a relatively new believer who is fervently studying God’s Word and very excited about it. The last thing I think she needs to hear is that I don’t think she is using the ‘right’ Bible. If, some years down the road, the topic of versions comes up and SHE wants to discuss it I MIGHT, in a loving way, explain my OPINION on the matter, but it will be a God lead thing, not something I am dogmatic about and can’t wait to do. Also, I am very open to the idea of NEVER bringing it up if that’s the way it goes. My primary goal on this topic would be only to help someone grow, and never to discourage someone.
My statement “I didn't catch that he said you should be using ANY English translated Bible.” Was in regard to your assertion that he is arguing that you shouldn’t use just ONE English version (paraphrased). My point being, I didn’t hear him suggest you should even use multiple version of the English Bibles, but that you need to study the ancient manuscripts. To this point I had not given my reason for believing what I do on the topic, but your last comment prompts it. You brought up the ‘means’ God uses to preserve is Word and that is exactly where the difference comes from. We obviously all agree that God says He WILL preserve His Word and we know He is faithful to do so. We are really only talking about two possibilities here. One is that His Word is preserved in multiple ancient manuscripts and we need to study them all to determine what His word is from them. The other is that He preserved His Word in a single location (i.e.- KJV or some other version). I obviously believe the later. The reason I do is exactly what you stated and that is I don’t believe that God would require an individual or multiple individuals to be the ‘means’ in which He provides it to us. For me, preservation includes access. Requiring men to provide His Word to all of us, I believe, isn’t something God (knowing the nature of man) would do, and certainly isn’t required to do simply to make it ‘logical’ to us. I don’t intend to rely on someone else to tell me what God’s Word says. If the answer to that is that I need to learn ancient languages and study enumerable manuscripts I would disagree with that understanding of ‘study to show thyself approved’. God has MANY commandments for me in living my life. I seriously doubt I could become that educated and spend that much time through study and complete the tasks He has for me on this earth. Dr. White does it, so why can’t I? Well, that’s where we go back to the unique gifts God gave us. Anyway, that’s where I’m sure we will agree to disagree.
Dr. White is correct about the Apocalypse of St. John. Out of all books, the Apocalypse was the only book not allowed to be read during Church Services, hence it's small number of manuscripts avail..
@Winston Grettum Care to elaborate? He gave specific references, where are yours? Since they are lacking, and you did not provide anything, than you are not one concerned with truth, you would be a traditionalist.
James White is wrong. KJV is the most perfect translation. Using all the other perversions (I mean versions) just causes needless confusion because these versions contradict each other, not to mention they are all based on the Alexandrian (Egyptian) corrupted manuscripts. They are all "for profit" translations that have to be at least 15% different from each other to be considered an original work and therefore be copyrightable. How on earth can anyone decipher God's true word by reading hundreds of contradictory modern translations? The whole idea is ludicrous. Trust the old KJV that stood the test of time. Because James has "Dr." in front of his name people fall for all the bull he spews. Like the saying goes -- if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull.
Dear Dr. White, I am a convert to Eastern Orthodoxy. Still, I am a longtime listener of yours. If you ever convert to Eastern Orthodoxy and become a priest, I would literally move across the country to be in your church! ☦️ God bless you sir!
lol nice to see the type of people this James White guy attracts. Agnostics, Roman Catholics, Orthodox people all love him, because of his intelect, not because he is faithful to God's word.
I find this very interesting because back in 1830 before all this information came about the translations of the Bible . Joseph Smith said we believe the Bible to be the word of God , as far it is translated correctly. Every Christian Denomination condemn Joseph for saying such a thing that the bible is totally true. Now they agree with Joseph.
49:55: "It is unknown in the first 400 years of the church, with one possible exception in an early church father." [Insert eye-roll GIF here.] Ambrose quoted the passage repeatedly; Jerome included the passage in the Vulgate, and stated that it was found in many manuscripts, both Greek and Latin. Pacian mentioned that Christ forgave the adulteress, when no one condemned her. Ambrosiaster cited it too. Augustine quoted from the passage multiple times. All before 430. It kinda looks like White got confused and superfluously inserted Irenaeus into the discussion, forgetting that Irenaeus cited Mark 16:19 (in Against Heresies III), not the pericope adulterae.
James Snapp, when I listen to you I’m nearly totally convinced of the authenticity of the Pericope of the Adulteress, but when I listen to Dr. White he almost persuades me the other way! 😂
Hey, the camera work in your videos is getting much better! I didn't need to take anti-nausea medication in order to watch one of your videos. For a while there, I was worried you guys were going to start using go pros mounted on drones in the studio to get some "sweet" camera angles.
Great insight on this podcast! I knew a lil how the KJV was flawed and only had limited transcripts, but this level of detail I love!! It baffles me how people will reject facts and conjure up hate to someone who is just trying to be as honest and objective as possible. Thanks Dr White, I greatly appreciate it. I find it funny when people say White isn’t Christian or just hates the KJV because White grew up on the KJV. Somebody needs to talk about this stuff because cynical(non-believing) people spread this faulty info about how NT texts aren’t not reliable.
Ever wonder for a momment JW could lie about this subject? KJV flawed? Are you kidding me, If was flawed why they didn't gave us a definitive version of the Bible and stopped making so many flawed versions? Have you compared the verses from KJV that mentioned Jesus giving glory to Him, referencing to Jesus as Lord in the right way while the New Versions reference him as the son of Joseph sometimes? calling Jesus only to he that manifested in the flesh? In debates against muslims that don't believe Jesus is God manifested in the flesh I only use KJV because I know they can mention a verse that failed to give glory to Jesus. James White thinking can work on theory but isn't effective on practice, you can't practice sola scriptura or "The Bible is the infalible, innerant and perfect words of God" when you claim you'll always find "errors" in the very Bible you say is perfect.
58:00ff. -- how did we start by looking for an example of expansions made by "later scribes" and end up discussing a textual variant that was cited by Tertullian?? Tertullian and the manuscripts he used = pretty early.
Try james knox explaining the kjv. There are like 15 videos in the series, Refutes dr white far more in-depth. I saw dr white's other work on kjv only. But after James knox's, I'm sticking with the kjv.
Thank you Dr. James. I really find your talks and or sermons full, full in knowledge and insight as well as determination in the light of our Lord. A great online Pastor and Elder. Also it is great to subscribe to Apologia Studios I will be looking in more frequently, thank you guys. Byron - South Africa (We aren't all black in South Africa, LOL)
Love the info Dr White presents. This kind of info educated me as to what the New Testament actually is. To me, this glorifies God in a way like no other. The dispersion of the texts over time & distance combined with the overwhelming agreement bring confidence in God like nothing else can. Most likely Dr White is right about the Critical or Minority Texts. I love the word for word translations derived from both the TR & Minority texts & use them both. All I can say is thank God for loving humanity enough to give us scripture that reveals himself to mankind.
I just watched the Pastors debate and was stunned when the cult of Israel was claiming King James was a black man I couldn't understand why until I saw this The Declaration of Arbroath is a declaration of Scottish independence, made in 1320. It is in the form of a letter in Latin submitted to Pope John XXII, dated 6 April 1320, intended to confirm Scotland's status as an independent, sovereign state and defending Scotland's right to use military action when unjustly attacked The Copy of the Declaration of Arbroath(1320) most holy Father,we know and from the chronicles and books of the ancients we find that among other famous nations our own,the Scots, has been graced with widespread renown.it journeyed from greater Scythia by the way of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Pillars of Hercules, and dwelt for a long course of time in Spain among the most savage peoples, but nowhere could it be subdued by any people, however barbarous.Thence it came, twelve hundred years after the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea,to it's home in the west where it still lives today.
I'm cautious over brackets and margin notes of men, eg they say things like Behemoth was an elephant or rhino when clearly its a sauropod being described.
1-hour mark: the "The-text-has-grown" idea sounds fine in theory, but when Royse looked at seven important papyri, he concluded that the copyists made more omissions than additions, at a rate of about 6:4. If scribes really tended to include anything, we'd have a much bigger text than the Byzantine Text. Perhaps one should ask White about P75 and John 9:38-39 sometime.
When I heard about the NIV calling Jesus a liar and a sinner..I thought oh no .. so I checked my bible but found I was using the NIV instead of the KJV my Dad gave me... and I checked it out..sure enough.. Jesus is asked if he is going to town in the NIV and Jesus says no..and then goes to town. In The man telling about the NIV says a young boy asked him if Jesus was a liar..he himself had not noticed this... KJV Jesus says he is not going to town yet. In the NIV it says that to be angry is a sin, Jesus was often angry so he was a sinner. In the KJV its says to be angry without reason is a sin. From there I have to say I was stunned by the taking out the name of the Lord and replacing it with he.. with changing words just because of the copy right.. changing whale to giant sea creature. At least 70 times, the NIV omits GOD! * Jesus - 15; Christ - 25; Lord - 16; God - 13.Here are a couple other examples that most fake bibles have.. NIV changes "only begotten of the Father" to "One and Only" which is a New Age title for some cosmic god.Luke 4:4 (KJV) And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4 (NIV) Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'" John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, ... John 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, ... Since the NIV itself says that Adam is Gods son how can Jesus be his one and only son. This is clearly done on purpose.. and the NIV is not the only one..all copy written bibles that came out since 1950s and later have to change at least 30 % of what is there.. that is why heaven becomes sky dome..and why the Message has the word sex in it more than the word Lord..
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3: 5-6). Youre using your own understanding, Jesus also commands to be FAITHFUL, so anyone can be faithful to the Lord Jesus by using the NIV or whatever translation. The Lord didn't call for us to "use the most accurate Bible" no, He calls for FAITHFUL service to Him, not being accurate upon translations of scripture. Focussing on the "thing" aka kjv onlyism is also being a pharisee, using the tradditions of men, to circumvent GODS LAW. by being a KJV onlyist you're being a pharisee. Jesus constantly talks about the HEART and our standing in Him from a HEART perspective. thats why we have to believe in OUR HEARTS that God rose Jesus from the dead and we shall be saved! - romans 10:9 dont focuss on the "thing" thats also called being a pharisee and a legalist. Focus on being FAITHFUL to Jesus and trust in HIM for your salvation. use whatever GOOD Bible translation as you wish. There are many bad ones, I personally use the KJV but I am NOT a onlyist. God Bless
@@kaizze8777 She is not relying in her own understanding, she is SHOWING what the different version say and telling you to WATCH FOR this differences if you realy want to rely in this modern versions. You can't trust 100% in new versions man! Tell me when she is being a pharisee? Being a KJV onlyist is not about being a pharisee. If you don't have standards how you are going to know what's right and wrong. Also, by not being a "pharisee" as you say, or legalistic, are accepting every sort of strange practice inside the church, drinking, smoking, adult entertainment, so on and so forth! You can't say that's holy practice and better than a "KJVO legalistic pharisee". Most KJVO I see are preaching the word, have the gospel right, their salvation right. the good and the bad from the Bible and by the title KJVO as you expect ARE LOVERS OF THE WORDS OF GOD!!! And are trying to live by then, enjoying everything that it says. Not some scholar or afraid of debating an intelligent arrogant self righteous man that can make a mistake here and there! If we KJVO sound so legalistic, why we do so? Telling you to stop fornicating, stop drinking, stop cussing, stop watching wicked movies, because the Bible tell to do it, and warn us about the works of the flesh. Accusing us for being legalistic is just an excuse to keep doing what you do that is wrong, and you know what THAT'S ON YOU, but don't tell us we are legalistic for not agreing with your behavior.
Not really Winston. Dr. White and other Reformed churches had influenced me so much to love deeper and study God's word more joyfully not in an intuitive way but with the truth accepting the church history. Come on, I know you're a Barean too.
I wonder what methodology Dr. White would use to find out what Amos wrote in chapter 9 verses 11-12. And what Isaiah wrote in 61:1. And what Habakkuk wrote in 2:3-4. And what Jeremiah wrote in 31:32. And what the Psalmist wrote in 40:6. And what Moses wrote in Deut 32:43. Etc etc etc…
SAVED BY GRACE --- OR SAVED BY FAITH We are either chosen and saved by grace, or at our pleasure by an inner goodness we produced the faith needed to be saved. So, make up your mind, which is it?
I'm glad they only had the shaky cam for the first couple minutes or so. I'm fine with cuts to different angles, but this isn't Battlestar Galactica; shaky cam is completely unnecessary (you're not filming an action scene), it's jarring, and it gives me a splitting headache.
I have a question. What's up with the church and booze. Now, I don't drink (I was WAY too good at it, so I gave it up, er God did), but like since the dawn of man, up until a hundred years ago, everyone drank booze and married 12 year olds. Now, I know that times have changed and young people now have the awesome gift of being children much longer, but what gives with peeps looking down on someone having a beer and a burger? I never got that one.
One of the most amazing revelations, regarding this topic (which translation is divinely inspired) is not in the book of Revelation. Aside from Acts 2:38, what most Christian believers miss is Luke 4:17. Jesus was reading from a TRANSLATION!!!
I read only King James and an English version of the Aramaic Bible and have no problems. This is too much for most of us to care about just as long as God has inspired it I'm O.K..
Good summary James, however that particular verse in Revelation will not be a problem because most preachers avoid the book of Revelation like the plague. They are afraid of most what they don't understand or don't like. Most of the Old Testament as well. And not to forget Romans.
The comments sadden me. Such infighting and backbiting. I believe in a posttrib premill return, semi Calvinist, semi Arminian, anti prosperity gospel, saved by grace through faith in Jesus. If I talked with any of you long enough, we would disagree on many issues. I would endeavor to whittle down to the gospel and if we can agree on this, we could debate and dialogue on other doctrines.
“There are many people who are willing to trade the truth for certainty.” If that doesn’t describe presuppositional apologetics I don’t know what does.
Rodrick Evans Right, but some presuppositions are asinine. If I said I base all my beliefs on the presupposition of the existence of leprechauns, you would rightly assume I’m insane. Saying everyone has presuppositions doesn’t justify the belief in the supernatural. I was once a Christian and believed it whole heartedly. Then I did some research. I know for a fact that belief in Christianity doesn’t not produce certainty in the repentant. I thought I was certain, and it turns out I was wrong. Everyone has been wrong about something they that they had certainty about and grownups admit when they’re wrong.
this is what happens when The Dividing Line is cancelled, James White will find a camera and a microphone somewhere and take over the show. ha ha, Love it!
I was doing a study on fasting and while reading other translations of 1 Corinthians 7:5 I noticed the word fasting taken out! I double checked the KJV to see if the word was italicized and was not, meaning it's in the original text! May be small to you but that's taking away from the word of God! Just one of many verses that other translations take away from! 1 Corinthians 7:5 King James Version (KJV) 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. 1 Corinthians 7:5 New International Version (NIV) 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:5 English Standard Version (ESV) 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Hi. You sound like me. I notice everything. NIV is the worst. If you dont want to only use a use KJV, try the ESV.I love it along with my ESV. Some ppl say it's no big dea they took out fasting. NIV took out fasting in many places. A powerful weapon the Lord gave us for spiritual warfare & a PERSON took it out. Hmmm? It is huge isnt it? These last revisions have taken fasting out along with other things & added things. Also ck the KJV where the Scripture says "And these three are one...." You will find the three are completely different from KJV to NIV. I will use ESV with my KJV so I'm not a "KJV only" person (anymore...hehe) but I've used KJV my entire life so now I KNOW when something is amiss like you did. That is a good thing! I'm grateful for that. All my memorization Is KJV. Its poetic & flows. I hear preachers on tv quote a Scripture from some version & barely recognize it. Only ESV am I able to say "Oh that's such n thus verse." Newer NIV have men & woman...brothers & sisters to "not offend" whereas before it was "to all men, or tell the brothers." Which meant mankind. As a woman I knew I was included. God said in Revelation not to ADD OR SUBTRACT to His Word or all the curses in His Word would be put upon those who did it. When I think of the message ( which is a mess) or the Passion (No thanks, I'll Pass) I just want to weep. The are not even a paraphrase & ppl think they are "Bibles." Sry, ya got me going. I LOVE james White and he did convince me KJV wasn't the "real" Bible, (only Koine Greek & Hebrew manuscripts are, so I use an online program that the Hebrew & Greek is side by side & I use KJV & ESV so when you highlight a word like say "discord" it gives you the greek meaning/definition etc. I never could figure out those vines, etc because you still had to know how to find word & it wasn't in alphabetical order. So since the word "love" has 4 (or more meanings) in the Bible this program is great for understanding which form is used where. Like when Jesus asked Peter "Do you love (Agape - unconditionally love) Me?" Peter says "Lord, You know I love (philio- friendship love) You. This REVOLUTIONIZED my Bible study. Sorry so long. You just seem to me to be a person of the Word who knows it, longs for it & can spot error. So this is free site. It can work on laptop, chromebook or phone. Using phone ( I have Android)you can flip back & forth. But it's best on computer & will sync to chromebook (or anything like a chromebook.) But to see it side.) It's called "Net Bible.org." Choose the Bible version.you want to use, pops up below and then if New Test, choose Greek and it pops up on left side. Then if you go to John chap 3, the Greek part will too and use cursor to highlight over Word you wish to get info on in Greek, and bam, you get definition, meaning, etc. I know you'd have figured all that out but...heehee. After you add it, just bookmark it because it's not a program, it's a website basically. You will love it. God bless you. Pls, stay away from NIV. (Not interesting version...heehee.) every time they redo it, it only gets worse. They are only in it for money that's why they got the journal, then, the coloring Bible, kids, boys, girls, etc. As long as they change SOMETHING,...they can resell it. For $70 plus bucks. I wish Jesus would make a giant whip from heaven & beat them all. It's extortion. At least the KJV can be given away & you can buy on at the dollar store for $5. God's Word should be free, so at dollar store...all your paying for is ink, paper, cover, transport & employee salary to sell it to you. All the rest is greed. God bless you. Hope you find that NetBible.org. . I credit "Fighting for the Faith" - Chris R. for testing it out for two days. God bless. Take care.
+stevie6621 Not really. They would have had to travel to Rome to see it, and whether the Romish authorities would have allowed them into their library seems doubtful.
+stalrunner David Daniels has PROOF that they DID have access to Vaticanus and Alexindrinus. His new video with that proof is supposed to be out on Monday (May 23)!
+stalrunner - That's Daniels' claim. From his Facebook post, regarding recording the video, he says: "It's 37 minutes long, and I only covered the important parts - including how we know the KJV translators had access to texts like Vaticanus and Alexandrinus! So on Monday this should be online." So we can watch and see for ourselves. :)
I’m not a Calvinist and I have many issues with Calvinist theology. Having said that I’ve been finding myself watching Jeff and Dr White a lot lately. Clearly men filled with the Holy Spirit.
thats because calvinism is a Spiritual revelation and its Gods perspective that He has told us. Once your eyes are opened its throughout the whole Bible. "I am not a calvinist out of choice but becuase i cannot help it. Its biblical." Charles Spurgeon. non calvinsit just means someone who doesnt know Gods word and what Jesus did on teh cross. Romans Ephesians Galatians Isaiah 59 "with his own arm He worked salvation" Isaiah 1 "if you had not left us some survivors we would have wiped out like sodom and gomorrah". Ezekiel 16 and 36 its really the whole bible its not elitism He has chosen the weak things of the world.
Well there’s also issues with the newer translations making Jesus out to not be the son of God so there is reason on why you would stick with the original because I also believe that new text found shouldn’t change the characteristics in God or the the perception of Jesus. Because the Bible does a really good job explaining on how we should judge scripture and make sure we don’t put our personal interpretation
54:17 -- the majority text contains the PA. One should be aware that this majority is not close. The PA is in over 1,300 manuscripts (yes, the note in the NKJV is off quite a bit.) -- about 85%.
God's word is absolute and has been preserved we can read it word for word and I know exactly what it is by the majority text it's perfectly logical 5700 manuscripts compared to a few random here and there
I’d be interested to hear Dr White discuss the omission of Junia for Junias, and now put back again in many translations today. I know I would conclude differently with him, probably, regarding Junia as an apostle, but I’d still be interested what his commentary would be. If anyone can direct me to any conversation he’s had regarding this that would be great.
Trading truth for certainty. Certainty is a property of propositions -truth statements. Confidence is a property of persons. One can be very confident and have no truth. Different categories.
You’re better than me. He lost me. He knows a lot, but seems to go off on too many tangents.
I’m in the middle on this. Some of it I can keep up with, but other times I’m a bit lost.

Jacob stands for the kjv. why would you support him?
+Clinton Post Jacob does not stand for the King James - he always reads from the New American Standard version- you should listen to his teachings properly without giving false opinions
Shew,that's a close call.
Listening to White, Brown and Prasch is like watching Satans army do their job. Let no man deceive you. More manuscripts means more confusion.

Thank you Dr James white for all what you are doing🙏
God bless you abundantly 😇❤️✊
Thank you Jeff, for allowing Dr. White to teach on the transmission of the text of Scripture. This broadcast was very informative and received outstanding teaching as always from Dr. White. Hope you and James keep teaching together, cause I love when you both share your knowledge of God's Word. God bless!
+Matthew Martin and Steven Anderson is a holy prophet of God right? Lol. Guys a joke.
James White is a bald faced liar. Read Dr. Samuel Gipp's book "An Understandable History of the Bible". He leaves James in the dust.
I love it when Dr. White gets on a roll !! ^_^
Dr. James White is a powerhouse of knowledge in his field! God bless you fellow brother in Christ!!
"There are many, many people who are willing to trade the truth for certainty." That is definitely true. Just look at the comments. SMH
If Early Church Father Cyprian quoted from the Textus Receptus about 250 AD, which text is the oldest?
Trade the truth for certainty... That's KookyTalk!
@Steven Irizarry link?

@Steven Irizarry l agree. Trent Horn, is a much better bibical scholar.
@Roisia Patricia Gaffney
Sure. If you like those who don't hesitate to lie and twist then Trent Horn gotta be your favorite.
The first video I saw of Dr. White, he was wearing a hawaiian shirt and discussing Mormonism lol. Great man of God.
I love the ministry of apologia church.
Thank you Dr. James White for making the distinction between believing Bible scholars and the unbelieving Bible Scholars.
As Dr White says, "Certainty comes from studying the truth." Sounds like Paul, 2Ti 2:15 "Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision."
I love u j. Durbs and dr. J wizzle 😂😂 u guys are are biblically sound and very clear in your arguments. All glory to GOD alone
so much knowledge and wisdom, God bless
I was KJVO of the worst sort for over 15 years. I was ordained under a ministry of Peter Ruckman himself. James Whites dividing line led me out of that Cultic position to the truth.
James White baffles you will bull and leads you away from the truth. Read Dr. Samuel Gipp's book "An Understandable History of the Bible".
KJV isn't just fine IS PERFECT!!!
I've never learned so much about church and biblical history.
Says a lot about how little you read.
At least that's what the KJV says :)
Anyway, no hate from me.
Anyway, that’s where I’m sure we will agree to disagree.
when you name yourself that close to an apology, you know what you get.
Dr. White is correct about the Apocalypse of St. John. Out of all books, the Apocalypse was the only book not allowed to be read during Church Services, hence it's small number of manuscripts avail..
I always learn so much from Dr. White.
I find it beneficial for learning Theology on Calvinist than to Charismatics and Pentecostals.

Which false Bibles are you referring to? And why are they false? I can't wait to hear this.

James White is wrong. KJV is the most perfect translation. Using all
the other perversions (I mean versions) just causes needless confusion
because these versions contradict each other, not to mention they are
all based on the Alexandrian (Egyptian) corrupted manuscripts. They are
all "for profit" translations that have to be at least 15% different
from each other to be considered an original work and therefore be
copyrightable. How on earth can anyone decipher God's true word by
reading hundreds of contradictory modern translations? The whole idea
is ludicrous. Trust the old KJV that stood the test of time.
Because James has "Dr." in front of his name people fall for all the
bull he spews. Like the saying goes -- if you can't dazzle them with
brilliance, baffle them with bull.
Thank God for Dr. White and Apologia Church.

lol nice to see the type of people this James White guy attracts. Agnostics, Roman Catholics, Orthodox people all love him, because of his intelect, not because he is faithful to God's word.
Proverbs 4:7
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

This video is absolutely helpful and great. It's a great encouragement to me. I love it. God bless you guys.
49:55: "It is unknown in the first 400 years of the church, with one possible exception in an early church father."
[Insert eye-roll GIF here.] Ambrose quoted the passage repeatedly; Jerome included the passage in the Vulgate, and stated that it was found in many manuscripts, both Greek and Latin.

I'm a KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, guy. Read, Compare, and then Re-Read again, and above all, pray without ceasing.
Exceptionally rational. Why don't people get that?

Love the info Dr White presents. This kind of info educated me as to what the New Testament actually is. To me, this glorifies God in a way like no other. The dispersion of the texts over time & distance combined with the overwhelming agreement bring confidence in God like nothing else can. Most likely Dr White is right about the Critical or Minority Texts. I love the word for word translations derived from both the TR & Minority texts & use them both. All I can say is thank God for loving humanity enough to give us scripture that reveals himself to mankind.

The Declaration of Arbroath is a declaration of Scottish independence, made in 1320. It is in the form of a letter in Latin submitted to Pope John XXII, dated 6 April 1320, intended to confirm Scotland's status as an independent, sovereign state and defending Scotland's right to use military action when unjustly attacked
The Copy of the Declaration of Arbroath(1320)

I'm cautious over brackets and margin notes of men, eg they say things like Behemoth was an elephant or rhino when clearly its a sauropod being described.
1-hour mark: the "The-text-has-grown" idea sounds fine in theory, but when Royse looked at seven important papyri, he concluded that the copyists made more omissions than additions, at a rate of about 6:4. If scribes really tended to include anything, we'd have a much bigger text than the Byzantine Text. Perhaps one should ask White about P75 and John 9:38-39 sometime.
Mind blown! Thank you Dr. White!

NIV changes "only begotten of the Father" to "One and Only" which is a New Age title for some cosmic god.Luke 4:4
(KJV) And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Luke 4:4 (NIV) Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'"
John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, ...
- romans 10:9
dont focuss on the "thing" thats also called being a pharisee and a legalist.
Focus on being FAITHFUL to Jesus and trust in HIM for your salvation. use whatever GOOD Bible translation as you wish.
There are many bad ones, I personally use the KJV but I am NOT a onlyist.
God Bless
Amen. We need to read Gods word and the entirety of it. And the KJV is just that.
Dr White is a freaking genius lol I'd be proud to meet him.
You got the freak part right.
Not really Winston. Dr. White and other Reformed churches had influenced me so much to love deeper and study God's word more joyfully not in an intuitive way but with the truth accepting the church history. Come on, I know you're a Barean too.

A mega Apologia broadcast? good to see Dr. White
Thanks so much for this episode. This was very helpful for me in understanding the strengths of reasoned eclecticism.
One of the best, thanks!
Wish I could just download all Dr. Whites knowledge into my brain 🧠 🙏👍🙌❤️I would have loved to have a Dad like him growing up😇

We are either chosen and saved by grace, or at our pleasure by an inner goodness
we produced the faith needed to be saved.
Is there a transcript for this interview? I'd love to know the spelling of some of these words so I can research them. CC isn't always accurate.
Thank you for all the great work james & Durbin !
dr.White-what is best translstion today?
I read only King James and an English version of the Aramaic Bible and have no problems. This is too much for most of us to care about just as long as God has inspired it I'm O.K..
Need meme on the comment at the last " don't come up with a standard Jesus did t use"
As an Agnostic I can respect James White. Even though I completely disagree on Christianity and religion in general.
You know a lot Dr. White thank you for this video.
this is what happens when The Dividing Line is cancelled, James White will find a camera and a microphone somewhere and take over the show. ha ha, Love it!
The radio program is not canceled...
Very helpful. Thank you for this.
1 Corinthians 7:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
1 Corinthians 7:5 New International Version (NIV)
5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
1 Corinthians 7:5 English Standard Version (ESV)
5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
God bless. Take care.
the majority text changes depending on which century, and the critical text changes depending on which edition of N-A.
Hello from an Anglican. Love the JC Ryle t-shirt!
i have all of james white books. not all of them but a lot of them. hes the best
KJV translators had access to Vaticanus but didn't use it and for good reason.
Are you sure about Alexandrinus? That didn't get shipped to England until the 1620s.
+stalrunner - That's Daniels' claim. From his Facebook post, regarding recording the video, he says: "It's 37 minutes long, and I only covered the important parts - including how we know the KJV translators had access to texts like Vaticanus and Alexandrinus! So on Monday this should be online."
So we can watch and see for ourselves. :)
Alrighty then.
So what is universally believed to be the most accurate Bible to study in our walk with Christ?? Can anyone tell me their opinion??
The most accurate is the original Hebrew and Greek, but if you want my recommendation of an English translation, try the NASB.
I’m not a Calvinist and I have many issues with Calvinist theology. Having said that I’ve been finding myself watching Jeff and Dr White a lot lately. Clearly men filled with the Holy Spirit.
Same.
thats because calvinism is a Spiritual revelation and its Gods perspective that He has told us. Once your eyes are opened its throughout the whole Bible.
"I am not a calvinist out of choice but becuase i cannot help it. Its biblical." Charles Spurgeon.
non calvinsit just means someone who doesnt know Gods word and what Jesus did on teh cross.
Romans Ephesians Galatians Isaiah 59 "with his own arm He worked salvation"
Isaiah 1 "if you had not left us some survivors we would have wiped out like sodom and gomorrah".
Ezekiel 16 and 36
its really the whole bible
its not elitism He has chosen the weak things of the world.
Dr white is a genius!
Great video thank you all
Do we have any original manuscripts today? And as I dont have the time to listen fully to this now, what's the most accurate bible? Thanks in advance.
God's word is absolute and has been preserved we can read it word for word and I know exactly what it is by the majority text it's perfectly logical 5700 manuscripts compared to a few random here and there
Great episode! Love it when yall have the doc over!:)
I’d be interested to hear Dr White discuss the omission of Junia for Junias, and now put back again in many translations today. I know I would conclude differently with him, probably, regarding Junia as an apostle, but I’d still be interested what his commentary would be. If anyone can direct me to any conversation he’s had regarding this that would be great.
who cares detached wackjob
desperate for any reason to quibble becuase you have never been converted
triggerrrrrred
I hope I can get an answer this late in the game. Can I get Dr Whites thoughts on the Nestle -Alan’s Greek text.
I need a transcript of this...broadcast..Frank Truek explained it with less big words. This was yet great, too
Trading truth for certainty. Certainty is a property of propositions -truth statements. Confidence is a property of persons. One can be very confident and have no truth. Different categories.
This was phenomenal!
