I've never been in a Blizzard but I've been in situations when I was in the middle of no where and everything was white. It was difficult to tell what was the road and what wasn't. So I can only imagine what its like during an actual blizzard.
Went from St. Louis to Northern California. Sometimes I wanted to scream with how bored I was, but I was really happy with Wyoming. No cell coverage for me but I downloaded podcasts. I had no expectations and really just enjoyed the view.
I was raised in Cheyenne and went to the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Seems like I made this trip back and forth a thousand times. Thanks for the memories.
Born and raised in and near Cheyenne. I vividly remember driving Cheyenne to Laramie in a ground blizzard about 1968. One could look to the side and see lights a hundred miles away, but looking down you couldn't see the stripes on the road.It was like driving in milk. The "blizzard posts" on each side of the highway were life savers, as long as you remembered that the ones on the left were twice the distance apart as the ones on the right. On certain curves, in poor visibility, it could be deceiving, making you think the road curved one way, but it was just the reverse. But, an a clear day like this, it was wonderful.
I drove by myself from Philadelphia to California back in May 2020. I took I-76 to I-80 I really enjoyed the scenery. 3 days of amazing experience across America. 👍
drove from Davenport, IA to Arcata, CA and back by myself at the age of 21. Was an amazing experience I hope to do again soon. Stopped in Boulder, CO for a night then nonstop the rest of the way besides getting gas. Wish I had my CDL or the means to travel more. I really miss the freedom and sights the open road has to offer. Things just ain’t the same these days generally and personally but my hopes are high nonetheless.
Cast Iron Porterhouse We used to live in a concrete jungle. So I understand and sympathise with you. I never thought I would be here to be honest. Wishing you good luck and hope it happens for you some day.
Drove this in 2017 from Cleveland to Fairfield, California! Road trips are so much fun because there is so much to see that can't be seen from a boring ass plane ride. I am making the drive again I summer 2021 from Fairfield back to Cleveland to visit family!
I remember making that drive in August of 2015. I believe I coasted about the final 10 miles into Laramie. Had a Wyoming cop along side me the whole way. May have an 80 MPH speed limit, but don't go 81!
12:48 The Lincoln bust on the right was relocated from the old summit just to the south (left) of this position when the Interstate was built. There was a great restaurant/club at that summit. Lincoln is memorialized as the president that could see the need for a transcontinental roadway system (the railroad) and for whom the Lincoln Highway is named. From here on to Laramie, the downgrade is known as telephone Canyon, and was a real brake-burner for trucks.
One of the things I want to do is a long roadtrip, I love seeing the beauty of nature and you can do that via car. I hate flying and I haven't flown since 18 years. I am I avid roadtrip person
Oh man...this is so damn pretty place I mean I want that look like the sky blue with cloud and land color yellow or green I feel I want move this place I need it!
Before that trip in Wyoming, I did get blown off the road on I-69 in Michigan. That heightened my awareness that heavy winds, empty trailers and 18 wheelers are a bad combination. I was easing along I-69 on a cold day just after a snowstorm with winds blowing about 30 MPH. Hit a patch of black ice and was doing OK driving very slowly until a gust of crosswind caught my trailer. I immediately lost control, spun out across the median and jackknifed on the shoulder on the other side. While the wrecker was pulling me out, another driver did the same thing at the same spot.
Starting at around 10 minutes you get a glimpse of Veadawoo, a 1.4 billion year old sherman granite rock formation which acts as a a geological and symbolic divide between two vastly different cultures; Laramie and Cheyenne, 40 miles a part, worlds away. Yes I had to say it.
This must be the eastern part like around Nebraska or South Dakota? Flat prairies in the east instead of the mountains of the west? I’ve never been there that’s just how I imagine it
Great drive! Do you think I could use a clip of it for a project I'm working on about Wyoming? I'll totally credit you on screen. Let me know and thanks for considering!
Question for anybody familiar with the western United States: I'm planning on moving from Kansas City to Seattle in mid september. I'm debating on taking this way to get there or driving on I 90 through Montana. I've been looking at videos to give myself an idea of what I am up for and people have said I 90 is one of the most dangerous highways in the states. Looking for some advice on what would be the highway to take and if the weather is something I should be prepared for in mid september.
I've never personally driven I-90, at least not in any length. I've been on it in say Seattle but no road trips. Anyhow, the weather is always something to consider for sure. We can can start seeing snow here in Boulder as early as Halloween but I've seen Wyoming get snow before then. I don't know if that helps but here is a weather forecast site just for places along I-90 www.theweathernetwork.com/us/us-highway-weather-forecast/short-term/I-90
Thank you so much! Yeah I think I should be fine to be honest. I'm just trying to make sure I'm fully prepared for this trip and what I may encounter. I've heard that there is potential for snow and high winds early on in Montana but it seems like from what people say the chances of at least the snow are incredibly minimal.
Those mountain winds can be ferocious! I'm originally from Wets Texas and used to joke about the winds back home. That all stopped when we moved to Colorado lol I've seen 90+ MPH winds! Wyoming can be especially rough, its not uncommon to hear about a semi that was blown over. Maybe you should by a portable CB and listen to the truck chatter? They used to hang out on ch 19.
Yeah I've driven KC to Denver multiple times and know exactly that wind you're talking about. My explorer would blow all over the place. Thankfully I got a new Impala now so I think it should handle much better. What do you mean when you refer to CB? Sorry I'm only 24 and not too familiar with many outside devices for driving around.
CB is Citizen's Band, a type of radio. You should be able to get one at Radio Shack. Only one person can transmit on it at a time, it's not like a phone. Truckers often hang out on channel 19 on it.
With highways just straight for miles like this I honestly don't understand why you guys have such slow speed limits. I'm from Germany and we have so many corners and turns in our highways but we still have no speed limit at all on 2/3 of the highways, you are allowed to go as fast as you're car can go. Man, they way you could race and cover ground on those long straight stretches would be absolutely incredible in a supercar.
I was running Go Pro Hero 4 black cameras during the making of this video. I still have them but mostly use Go Pro Hero 7 Blacks. I like the quality better.
I don't have to put music but the cameras are mounted externally. The wind and road noise can be quite loud and annoying. I would love to use better music but copyright laws forbid it.
I drove from Boston to SF in September '19, taking I-80 the entire way, and the trip through Wyoming/Utah/Nevada was seriously life changing.
That is a serious road trip!
I-80 really is pretty, until the blizzards hit and you start praying for your life while in the middle of one.
I've never been in a Blizzard but I've been in situations when I was in the middle of no where and everything was white. It was difficult to tell what was the road and what wasn't. So I can only imagine what its like during an actual blizzard.
Went through it a month ago on greyhound to Seattle (from Mississippi)
YUP
Drove this in September 2019. Chicago to Salt Lake City. Great way to actually see America instead of flying over it.
Went from St. Louis to Northern California. Sometimes I wanted to scream with how bored I was, but I was really happy with Wyoming. No cell coverage for me but I downloaded podcasts. I had no expectations and really just enjoyed the view.

That beautiful golden landscape with the open horizon is stunning as a back drop.
I've got to get on I-80
Thanks! Yes, I-80 is a nice drive for sure. 1-70 is another favorite as well.

I couldn't help myself. I timed your speed in a mile. Approx. 189.87 M.P.H.
Left the country in 2015, these are the trails of great memories.
Drove from Atlanta to Grant's Pass Oregon in 2016. The drive on 80 was magnificent. Beautiful country.
Cool, interestingly enough, I met someone the other day who drove a lot of this same route...moved to Colorado from Atlanta shortly afterwards.
Beautiful. How I envy you. Stuck in a concert jungle and hate it. Would love to move somewhere like that.

Home Sweet Home... this is where I grew up!
Paul Ayers same but now i live in columbia in the jungle
I love videos like this, they're so relaxing
Grew up east of Cheyenne Wyoming in Carpenter Wyoming. Worked and lived all over Wyoming. Love the state except for the WIND
My church youth group went to Wyoming and took this route. I miss how pretty it was
I love the high plains.
Thanks.

Finally a road trip with good music!
Reminds me of Western Kansas. Would love to visit Wyoming one day
Plan to visit both and Star Valley as I shortlist retirement from Army places to call home
Wyoming is beautiful. On a side note, At the start that is a rare Peterbilt 352 At the gas station.
Nice Pete cabover at the fuel island 👍
Agreed. You don't see a lot of them, at least I don't anymore. Now me, I'm more of a 379 Pete kinda guy. That what I drove back in my day. .
@@myroadtours6147 The 379’s are beautiful trucks they drive nice. Spent a few years in one. 👍
Oh man...this is so damn pretty place I mean I want that look like the sky blue with cloud and land color yellow or green I feel I want move this place I need it!
I lived in Laramie for three years. Moved away about four months ago and I already regret moving away.
I cant wait until I get settled in Laramie! Moving away from central Iowa
At 4:46, you can see the billboard that says "Jubitz Truck Stop...Only 1,216.4 miles."
I was afraid I was going to die in a windy snowstorm at the Gangplank in an 18 wheeler. Thank God I didn't.
Ya, winds can play hell with those large trucks. Occasionally we hear about one or two being blown over some where between Ft Collins and Cheyenne.

My next video, right along this stretch of I-80! It was only 36 degrees in Cheyenne... In JUNE! 😀
Haha. Yea. I'm in Laramie, bunch of the snow removal crews were shoveling
Enjoyed it. Thanks!
Are we there yet?...
Mom, she's looking at me.
I gotta pee.
Are we there yet?...
What's that funny smell?
I'm hungry.
Are we there yet?...
Wow! A whole 30 minute drive, in the summer time. Woo-hoo.
This must be the eastern part like around Nebraska or South Dakota? Flat prairies in the east instead of the mountains of the west? I’ve never been there that’s just how I imagine it
I came up North I-25 from Colorado and took a left headed west on I-80.
Reminds me of Road Rash on the Megadrive
Ha, I can see that lol
Nice vid. Txs
How long does it take to drive from Laramie to Cheyenne in the summer?
Its all interstate which is nice and summertime should make for decent weather barring isolated storms. You're looking at about an hour or less.
whats the dashcam that you are using
I use a Gopro Hero 4 Black.
I missed the Lincoln Memorial.
I'm for North Carolina and it sucks I'm going to move to Wyoming
North Carolina has variety of scenery oceans and mountains,no ocean in Wyoming.
Great drive! Do you think I could use a clip of it for a project I'm working on about Wyoming? I'll totally credit you on screen. Let me know and thanks for considering!
Sure.
Big fan Nick Johnson! Nice to see you here!
A trick : watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Pablo Alfred Yea, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself :)
I miss being out there!
I'm going to use this to as therapy to destress. If you saw the insanely shitty roads we have around us, you'd know what I mean

Right. I'm originally from West Texas and we have 85 MPH speed limits. Its no Autobahn but its fun.
Where is Jess and Slim ?
What camera?
I was running Go Pro Hero 4 black cameras during the making of this video. I still have them but mostly use Go Pro Hero 7 Blacks. I like the quality better.

I don't have to put music but the cameras are mounted externally. The wind and road noise can be quite loud and annoying. I would love to use better music but copyright laws forbid it.
it's all good till winter lol..
Why the music?
What a squalid place.
Thanks for your most valued opinion🖕
This is really not a pretty art of Wyoming. It gets better closer to Laramie when the national forest shows up around the Lincoln monument.
I have done that Cheyenne to Laramie trip....its not scenic at all.....lol.
Just some rocks on the way.....everything else is flat yellow plains.
Disculpen w larami
Nah Wyoming isnt real you making this up
music is really unecessary
Part of, not art.
